In a last desperate attempt to save Barack Obama’s hopes of re-election, Hillary Clinton took a leaf from Charles Dickens’ Sydney Carton, and did the “far, far better thing,” taking responsibility for the failure to provide security for the consulate in Benghazi and for the long series of misstatements, fabrications, and falsehoods describing the carefully-planned terrorist attack calculatedly timed to occur on 9/11 as a spontaneous mob outburst provoked by an obscure video. Hillary Clinton, of course, does not fully resemble Sydney Carton. She is not going to the guillotine. She is only “accepting responsibility,” which in the manner of...

Cambridge, Mass. — Celebrated historian Bertram Oxley has uncovered a memorandum from former Japanese Emperor Hirohito to Admiral Yamamoto dated December 6, 1941, showing that the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was motivated by an offensive film made by Charlie Chaplin ridiculing Japanese cuisine.

Some of Biden's wife's Tweets during the debate last night: How badly do you want to take a razor to that little V of hair in the middle of Paul Ryan's forehead? Now let's all go back to forgetting about Kentucky until the next Kentucky Derby. Joe's using his thoughtful voice now. Joe's never given up on the idea that if you laugh hard enough you can float up to the ceiling. Joe's smiling so much because he wants to show off his recently bleached teeth, ok? Joe's wearing his "Gettin' Lucky in Kentucky" shirt underneath his suit tonight.

President Obama is proud of his bailout of General Motors. That’s good, because, if he wins a second term, he is probably going to have to bail GM out again. The company is once again losing market share, and it seems unable to develop products that are truly competitive in the U.S. market. Right now, the federal government owns 500,000,000 shares of GM, or about 26% of the company. It would need to get about $53.00/share for these to break even on the bailout, but the stock closed at only $20.21/share on Tuesday. This left the government holding $10.1 billion...

Team Obama is having trouble coming up with a slogan that sticks. They’ve tried pilfering the Ford auto company’s slogan, “Built to Last,” but that didn’t work out so well. Neither did “Win the Future,” “We Can’t Wait,” or “A Fair Shot.” So, what do you think Obama should use as a campaign slogan?

That Anthony Bourdain sure knows how to get people talking. The "No Reservations" host sounds off on other food stars in TV Guide Magazine. He has the strongest words for Paula Deen. "The worst, most dangerous person to America is clearly Paula Deen," Bourdain says. "She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations and she's proud of the fact that her food is f------ bad for you [...] plus, her food sucks."

It is becoming increasingly obvious that Anthony Weiner sent a college co-ed a picture of his . . . well I’m not sure which word I should use . . . weiner . . . on twitter. CNN Reporter Dana Bash has the four questions Congressman Weiner needs to answer: Is the picture of the Congressman? Why did the Congressman hire a lawyer? Why won’t the Congressman let law enforcement handle the matter? Why is Congressman Weiner following a 21 year old college student on twitter?

Sunday evening, the New York Daily News took the unusual step of publishing a statement in which a 21-year-old college student from Seattle denied being the mistress of Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY). Gennette Cordova said she had never even met the congressman, explaining that an April message on her Twitter account describing Weiner as her "boyfriend" was intended as a joke. Yet it was not what Cordova said on Twitter that made her statement so newsworthy. Rather, it was what was sent to her late Friday night from the congressman's Twitter account: a link to a photo showing the crotch...

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice says the Obama administration has not ruled out arming Libyan rebels in their fight against Muammar al-Qaddafi, according to Reuters. This comes Libyan government tanks and rockets blunted a rebel assault on Qaddafi's hometown of Sirte on Tuesday and drove back the ragtag army of irregulars, even as world leaders prepared to debate the country future in London.

Why is the looming NFL strike different from all other strikes? Well, first, it's not a strike, it's a lockout. Or at least it will be on March 4, when the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the National Football League and the player's union expires and the owners padlock the gates. Apparently most sportswriters are rusty when it comes to covering sports labor issues - or perhaps they were never taught that much in the first place - so they don't know the difference. There's a big difference, and even some veteran sportswriters don't seem to know it. Here's the Daily...

McLean, VA -- U.S. Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) may never go grocery shopping for his wife again. While shopping this past Saturday afternoon amongst the food aisles at his local gourmet grocer in McLean, Virginia, Sen. Reid came across a fellow shopper who recognized him and asked a question that the senior senator from Nevada plainly did not want to answer. The private citizen acknowledged upfront to the U.S. Senate's most powerful Democrat that he was a Republican and wanted to know from Mr. Reid himself why the Majority Leader was refusing to allow the just-passed House bill to repeal...
