What A Difference A ‘Surge’ Makes The ‘surge’ has not only made a difference for the citizens of Iraq, particularly in greater Baghdad, but it’s also apparently made a difference for the prospective Democratic candidates for President here at home. While the dem candidates still won’t admit publicly the extraordinary success the surge of American troops into Iraq has been, the way in which Hillary and Barack answered Tim Russert’s question of, ‘Will you pledge that by January 2013, the end of your first term more than five years from now, there will be no U.S. troops in Iraq?’ in...

October 29, 2004 John Kerry: Guilty of Attempted Brainwashing By Kyle B. Jones Despite what some might say clearly the most important issue in the upcoming election is our national security and in particular the defense of our homeland against terrorism. And when it comes to issues of our national security and defense John Kerry has proven himself to be the candidate of our enemies. In John Kerry’s closing remarks after the 1st presidential debate he stated: • “I have a plan for Iraq. I believe we can be successful. I’m not talking about leaving. I’m talking about winning. And...

Al-Sadr’s PLO Tactics And Why We Cannot Allow Them To Continue Right now in Najaf, Iraq Moqtada al-Sadr and many of his Mahdi Army militiamen are holed up in the Imam Ali Shrine and in the surrounding cemetery. The Imam Ali Shrine is one of the Shi’ite muslims’ most holy sites. This is where al-Sadr retreated to after his Mahdi Army was beaten AGAIN by joint US and Iraqi forces. Yesterday or the day before when AGAIN al-Sadr’s future looked grim he AGAIN asked for a ceasefire with American and coalition forces. Coalition forces immediately obliged him and went to...

I have recently contracted the internet trojan horse or virus or whatever you call it which automatically changes your homepage to about:blank(some weird search engine). This trojan didn't really bother me until recently(last night) it started automatically coming up when I would go to check my e-mail(both a hotmail and a yahoo account). I can type in my ID and password but then instead of getting my mail page I get the about:blank page and hence I cannot send or receive any e-mails at this time. I have Symantecs anti-Virus and have downloaded Adaware and neither has helped this problem....

April 08, 2004, 8:18 a.m. Learning from Sadr Listen to the Iraqis. By Michael Rubin As violence provoked by Muqtada al-Sadr's fringe Jaysh al-Mahdi militia enters its third day, Washington remains in a frenzy of misplaced panic. Senator Edward Kennedy (D., Mass.), in remarks rebroadcast throughout the Arab world on the al-Jazeera satellite television, declared "Iraq is George Bush's Vietnam and this country needs a new president." Senators Richard Lugar (R., Ind.) and Joseph Biden (D., Del.) raised the spectre of civil war in separate April 6 interviews. Speaking on the floor of the U.S. Senate on April 7, Robert...

Every time I get on the internet and type in the address for freerepublic.com(so far this is the only address where I receive the error) I get an error that says 'IE has caused an error in MSHTML.DLL' and then the window will automatically close. Can anyone tell me why I receive this error, why it only happens with freerepublic, and what I can do about it? I actually got into the site(in order to post this) by typing in the address to my personal page and then linking to the rest of the site. For some reason the site...

ELLEN KNICKMEYER Associated Press Writ By Nafi Diouf and Published: Jan 2, 2004 DAKAR, Senegal (AP) - American authorities are investigating whether a Boeing 727 shattered in a deadly Christmas Day crash off West Africa was the same jet that vanished in Angola last year, setting off a worldwide search, a U.S. State Department spokesman said Friday. Also, a Canadian humanitarian-flight pilot told The Associated Press he saw a 727 with the missing Angola jet's tail number at Guinea's airport in June - a...

I have just finished reading a book written by Tom Clancy and (Ret.)Gen. Fred Franks called 'Into The Storm' Ground-War In Iraq. In this book I learned the ammunition for our M1A1 tanks used in the Gulf War were coated in depleted uranium I assume to make them more solid and to give them the ability to more easily penetrate the armor of enemy tanks. I have also read an article on this forum posted last week(the source I dont remember) that stated the left-over or spent tank ammunition still in Iraq is posing radioactive problems to some areas there...

When I think of the Peace Corps I think of a bunch of 60s hippy peace-niks running around saying that we shouldnt build anymore tanks because we need to work towards 'peace' and not provoke anyone with our war machine as if we are the antagonizers and want to control the world. Would this observation be accurate and if not could you all fill me in.

Backpack nukes small but deadly Published 12/20/2001 6:55 PM NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Backpack nuclear devices are small, man-portable nuclear weapons with the explosive power of thousands of tons of TNT. These weapons were designed to be carried by one or two people for use behind enemy lines in the event of a war. With yields of up to 10 kilotons, they are relatively tiny when compared to the 100- to 25,000-kiloton bombs found in the U.S. nuclear arsenal. But they are nevertheless still weapons of mass destruction -- the bomb detonated at Hiroshima was about 15 kilotons ...
