With the federal EV incentive set to expire at the end of September, Ford is urging its dealers to prepare for a rush of buyers.
Ford warns dealers of upcoming EV rush Like most automakers, Ford is preparing for a shakeup under the Trump Administration. After the “One Big Beautiful Bill” was signed into law on July 4, the $7,500 and $4,000 tax credit for new and used EVs will no longer be available after September 30.
In a memo sent to dealers this week, Ford warned, “demand is expected to increase as the deadline approaches for eligible vehicles.”
The letter (via CarsDirect) confirmed that the EV tax credit “will no longer be available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025.”
Ford blamed Trump’s new bill for the expected rush of EV buyers ahead of the incentive deadline. Although the Mustang Mach-E doesn’t qualify for the credit, since it’s built in Mexico, Ford is passing it on through a leasing loophole. While it’s still available, the F-150 Lightning does qualify for the credit when purchased or leased.

Maybe a rush for their latest recalls.
Rush. 2 customers per week instead of one. 100% more customers! See how that works?

buwahahahaha
not seeing it.
These fools are so full of themselves it’s insane.
The staffs at these EV publications should be polishing their resumes.
People have money burning a hole in the pockets and want to throw it away ? LOL
That's right. Gotta find a way to "blame" Trump for something.
Ford is currently recalling over 1.7 million vehicles across multiple recalls due to various issues. One major recall affects over 1 million vehicles due to a rearview camera software glitch. Another recall involves over 850,000 vehicles due to a potential fuel pump failure. Ford is also recalling nearly 700,000 SUVs due to a fuel leak issue.
Mach-E sales 2024: 56,000
I don’t know about a run on EVs due to the expiring taxpayer rape, but I know I personally will experience a euphoric “EV rush” when this subsidy dies its well-deserved death!
“...Ford blamed Trump’s new bill..”
Blamed? The ringpiece Ford CEO should be on bended knee in gratitude for getting this EV dreck off their books and returning to normalcy.
Well dang it. Guess I’ll miss out then. 🙄
Some of these CEO's are severe idiots.
I read a story about the Ford CEO that decided to take a trip from Detroit to Denver in a F-150 Lightning. He made it to Denver, drove to a Ford dealer and left it there.
He later stated that the trip was so cumbersome that it was not worth it.
50 states, 12 mo/yr, so 56k/12/50 is about 100 cars per state per month. 25 per week. Or about one car per dealer per week, lol
I won’t be one of them, that’s for sure. Love my gasoline car.
>> Some of these CEO’s are severe idiots.
“They chose poorly” when they gambled on the inevitable success of the earth worshippers.
