Three years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and through a year long process, I have been approved for Deep Brain Stimulation. I have 3 procedures to go through. The first on May 5 (tomorrow) is the simplest as they make four small incisions in my scalp and place small screws as markers for the MRI and CT which will be used to make a 3d printed jig for the second part. I will be under local anesthesia for this part because they don't want any movement during the CT and MRI. (I'm going to ask them to take...

A federal judge blocked a California gun law on Thursday that required people to undergo a background check before purchasing ammunition. U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez in San Diego called the regulations "onerous and convoluted," adding that they violate a citizen's Second Amendment rights, the Associated Press reported. Benitez ruled in favor of the California Rifle & Pistol Association, which had asked him to halt the background checks with a preliminary injunction. "The experiment has been tried. The casualties have been counted. California's new ammunition background check law misfires and the Second Amendment rights of California citizens have been gravely...

A judge in Harris County, Texas, on Wednesday ordered residents to start wearing face masks in public for 30 days beginning next week — or possibly face a fine. But Judge Lina Hidalgo’s action, which intended to help stem the spread of the coronavirus in the third most populous county in the U.S., drew immediate pushback — including from the state’s lieutenant governor, who called the move “the ultimate government overreach,” and Rep. Dan Crenshaw, who wrote that "commonsense guidelines" should never lead to "unjust tyranny." Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick noted in a Twitter message that Hidalgo’s order – affecting...

When California seceded, Washington, Oregon, and New York quickly followed declaring that their new union to be called the Peoples’ Republic of America. The New England states, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Pennsylvania followed suit to join the PRA, as did Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Hawaii, New Mexico, and Colorado. Parts of California split, denounced the secession; forming a new state called Jefferson and applied for statehood in the old USA. Eastern Washington and most of Oregon also left the PRA. The rural parts of Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania divorced themselves from the left wing lunacy of Minneapolis,...

Get a suppressor in 90 days or fewer!!! That is the thinking behind Congressman Greg Steube (R-FL-17) new bill, “H.R. 6126 – the End the Normalized Delay of Suppressors (ENDS) Act.” Introduced last month, the ENDS Act would cap suppressor transfer times at 90 days, meaning as long as the prospective purchaser wasn’t denied during the National Firearms Act (NFA) process, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) would have to automatically approve the transfer after 90 days. No more insane wait times! Currently, some purchasers can wait up to 18 months before getting their can. “I have...

A Florida man diagnosed with coronavirus claims he was saved from certain death by an anti-malaria drug touted as a possible treatment by President Trump. Rio Giardinieri, 52, told Los Angeles’ Fox 11 that he struggled with horrendous back pain, headaches, cough and fatigue for five days after catching COVID-19, possibly at a conference in New York. Doctors at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in South Florida diagnosed him with the coronavirus and pneumonia and put him on oxygen in the ICU, he told the outlet. After more than a week, doctors told him there was nothing more they could...

No one should flaunt safety by refusing to take precautions to avoid contracting the coronavirus, but there is also no reason to be panicked about it. First of all, the virus seems to be targeting elderly patients the most as comparatively few people under 50 have been hit with the virus. Children have been especially passed over by this strain. So, for most people, simply washing hands frequently and avoiding large gatherings of people in public spaces is enough of a precaution to take over the next month or so. The virus is nothing to ignore, for certain. But it...

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida -- In a demonstration Thursday for the U.S. Army's top civilian official, a Sikorsky-Boeing team flew experimental helicopter prototypes that could one day become the service's next scout and assault rotorcraft under the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) program. The SB-1 Defiant helicopter prototype performed a series of aerial maneuvers to show off its unique X2 technology, which features a coaxial rotor blade system and a large propeller in the tail section of the aircraft designed to aid in forward thrust. This was the first flight demonstration of the Defiant for Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy. Sen. Tammy...

Picking through a mountain of huge rocks with his tiny bare hands, the exhausted little boy makes a pitiful sight. His name is Dorsen and he is one of an army of children, some just four years old, working in the vast polluted mines of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where toxic red dust burns their eyes, and they run the risk of skin disease and a deadly lung condition. Here, for a wage of just 8p a day, the children are made to check the rocks for the tell-tale chocolate-brown streaks of cobalt – the prized ingredient essential for...

A program funded by 2020 presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg is paying the salaries of lawyers who are farmed out to liberal state attorney general offices to pursue climate-based litigation -- a compact critics say amounts to Bloomberg buying state law enforcement employees to advance his preferred political agenda. The arrangement, which currently pays the salaries of Special Assistant Attorneys General (SAAGs) in 10 Democratic AG offices, is drawing new scrutiny now that Bloomberg is running for president. The New York University School of Law's State Energy & Environmental Impact Center, which was started in 2017 with $5.6 million from Bloomberg's...

“Why do you feel like you were assigned the wrong sex at birth?” “Did your gender dysphoria start as a result of something like a trauma?” “Have your parents or friends encouraged you to believe you are trans?” These are just a few questions that a therapist is no longer able to ask children in states that have banned “conversion therapy.” According to the Equality Act, which was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, “conversion therapy” is a “discredited practice” and “is a form of discrimination that harms LGBTQ people by undermining individuals’ sense of self-worth, increasing suicide ideation...

The Obamas’ $60m book deal has broken all records. From James Patterson to JK Rowling and Pope John Paul II, here are some of their closest rivals. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/mar/01/richest-book-deals-of-all-time-hillary-clinton-james-patterson Pearson Publishing was paid for Commoncore but Penguin Random House Publishing did the Obama book deal. Bertelsmann and Pearson, the parent companies, owning 53% and 47%, respectively. In July 2017,...

Surveys sometimes reveal frightening or shocking things that Americans believe. A new survey by the American Culture & Faith Institute provides such a stunning insight. Four out of ten American adults (40%) claim that they prefer socialism to capitalism. snip The survey revealed, however, that the term “socialism” may not be widely understood by Americans. That insight was revealed through several testing approaches. For instance, the results found that when the 2,000 survey respondents were asked whether they preferred capitalism or socialism, and their answers were compared to their preferred form of government in specific governance situations, those who claimed...
