A federal judge blocked a California gun law on Thursday that required people to undergo a background check before purchasing ammunition.
U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez in San Diego called the regulations "onerous and convoluted," adding that they violate a citizen's Second Amendment rights, the Associated Press reported.
Benitez ruled in favor of the California Rifle & Pistol Association, which had asked him to halt the background checks with a preliminary injunction.
"The experiment has been tried. The casualties have been counted. California's new ammunition background check law misfires and the Second Amendment rights of California citizens have been gravely injured," Benitez wrote in his 120-page opinion.

Same judge previously invalidated the 30 round mag ban only for the 9th to reinstate it.
There are no Bush judges. Only generic judges who fart rainbows and Trump judges.

Buying online, but ship to an FFL, has been the new, approved way. Don’t know if this will change (quickly).
Wait and see if the out of state merchants will ship directly to you.
They are very aware of Calif laws, and operate on the side of safety, for them.
It would seem that you can. Call and place an order and see what they say. When a judge struck down the high cap magazine ban, every gun store in the nation knew it within hours and was shipping mags to California as fast as they could process the orders and package the mags.
So, maybe I could sell a box of 22 to a friend, directly?
