The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said Wednesday that victory in Iraq and Afghanistan won't come in one glorious battle. Instead, Adm. Mike Mullen told a Kansas State University audience, success in the long wars will be determined by use of military and diplomatic powers, along with support from U.S. allies. Mullen said there won't be a day when commanders "stand up and say 'That's it, it's over. We won."' "We will win, but we will do so only over time and only after near-constant reassessment and readjustment," Mullen said. "Quite frankly, it will feel a lot less...

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) - President Bush won NATO's endorsement Thursday for his plan to build a missile defense system in Europe over Russian objections. The proposal also advanced with Czech officials announcing an agreement to install a missile tracking site for the system in their country. NATO leaders were adopting a communique stating that "ballistic missile proliferation poses an increasing threat to allied forces, territory and populations." It also will recognize "the substantial contribution to the protection of allies ... to be provided by the U.S.-led system," according to senior American officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of...

I am curious why none of the media covers the most important aspect of the Malvo shootings. If you look at Newspapers on the dates when the shootings are underway you discover something I find quite interesting. The shootings begin to dominate the news the day before the debate on the Iraq war starts and they catch them the day after the declaration of war??? If you ask most people "do you remember the debate about starting the second Iraq war", they will all answer "yes of course". But if you followup with the question "name one point in the...

I recently received a reply to a post that stated: "This should be beneath a "freeper". Sad." So I asked.. what is it that makes a FReeper? My reply (and I will admit was tasteless) was also questioning. It stirred controversy and was removed? Why Moderators? Can you not tell me? Did it not meet with your "FReeper" mentality? According to all posted guidelines it should be listed but no, you chose to delete it. Yes.. I'm the first one IBTZ, I'm sure you'll nick me for speaking up..

Many argue that communism will never be possible because of "human nature". The essence of this false argument is the belief that a communist society would consist of an all-powerful central government that would tell everybody what to do--and would therefore undermine the creative initiative of individuals and the search for happiness. • This argument is based on two false assumptions: (1) It assumes that a communist society will look like the former Soviet Union, or the current China, North Korea, etc (ie: corrupt police states with a feudal-style ruling class) (2) It assumes that people will only work in...

Sometimes when its late at night, I like to look back on election night. I love to go over to DU and relive the pain and sorrow they went through. Call me crazy, but I love to watch the pain they go through during those hours. It just so happens that DU's archives are still open. All the way back ti Nov 2nd. Watch as they feel they are going to win the election (early exit polls), all the way to total melt down - when they know it’s lost. Its such a good feeling. I think everyone on this...

So what do you think the answer is to the question posed in this DUmmie THREAD titled, “Do you feel any animosity toward the Bush voters?” Do you think the DUmmies have warm, fuzzy feelings towards the Bush voters? Not exactly. Try out of control HATE and RAGE! However, there is one notable exception to this attitude among the Democrats. It has come to my attention that Senator Barack Obama is not only a lurker but also a big fan of the DUmmie FUnnies. From what I hear he gets a lot of laughs out of reading the DUFUs....

Dan Rather was on the run, chasing big stories from New York to Florida to Texas and back to CBS headquarters in Manhattan. In less than a week: The Republican National Convention. A deadly hurricane. An interview for a blockbuster CBS investigation. Former President Clinton's open-heart surgery. [snip] Rather, 73, recalled somewhat vaguely that he had heard from his star producer that Burkett was a "straight-talking West Texan" with a reputation as a "truth teller." Had he turned to Google, though, the CBS anchorman would have found stories painting Burkett as something quite different: a highly controversial and disgruntled retired...

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Charles Schumer, fresh in a new leadership role among Democrats, found himself at odds with some of them Thursday, including Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, over a ceremonial counting of President Bush's re-election victory. Schumer, D-N.Y., was tapped late last year to head the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and began the day touting the DSCC's lack of debt heading into the 2006 elections. The achievement was largely overshadowed by an objection to Ohio's electoral vote tallies by Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, joined by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. Some Democrats have complained that voting problems in Ohio, where...

WASHINGTON - The National Park Service has agreed to give thousands of anti-war demonstrators a prime spot along President Bush (news - web sites)'s inaugural parade route that will allow them to protest during the procession. The anti-war group A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition is planning to erect its own bleachers in the space, an open plaza on Pennsylvania Ave., just a few blocks from the Capitol building, said Brian Becker, national coordinator for the group. I have entered into the den of iniquity to seek redmeption from the evil that has overtaken us. I ache and groan not lightly but deeply into my very bowels at the doom that has overtaken us. One man, one party has stolen the soul of this nation and transformed us into those who kill and plunder. Oh, the grief of one more fraud that has installed this tyrant. Why must we endure such a pernicious monster? Deliver us from this monster. Take this cancer from us.

This is unbelievable .. tune in for a few laughs now or when it's repeated. The Zogby Brothers are taking their Doom and Gloom act out in public ... Their hypothesis: America is turning into a bunch of fundamentalists .. because the Evangelicals made the difference in this election and it's *VERY* frightening. What blather and swill. Just because we love America, value her and our traditions, and are protective and defensive about ANY enemies who dare trample on her or hurt us .. we're so angry and "skeeeery." "We have a serious problem in this country. We have to...
