If you live in TX House district 64(Denton), please vote for Mike Brucia, against Myra Crownover. Myra Crownover is a self-proclaimed smoke nazi, who will use her megalomaniac governmental power to dictate to business owners(i.e. bars and restaurants) over the use of a legal product, tobacco. SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - A former mechanic was convicted Thursday of raping and strangling an 11-year-old girl whose abduction was captured by a car-wash security camera.

The defendant, who is accused of kidnapping, raping and killing 11-year-old Carlie Brucia in Sarasota in February 2004, didn't take the stand. Instead, the jury heard his voice was on tape recordings made from the Manatee County Jail in the weeks that followed Carlie's disappearance. *****Smith says, "It was an accident, mom. Smith's defense attorney wants the judge to throw out a car wash surveillance videotape showing Carlie Brucia's abduction. He has also asked Circuit Judge Andrew Owens to ban Smith's jailhouse confession to his brother and to prevent prosecutors from telling the jury that Smith was in jail on a probation violation days before he was charged with the murder.

Two days after the arrest, Department of Corrections officials said Rapkin had two opportunities to have Smith arrested for probation violations before Carlie's death, but let the violations go unpunished.
