Border Patrol agents have been subject to criticism from Democratic politicians and left-leaning talking heads in a highly polarized environment. One example came earlier this year when Rep. An Army soldier is being hailed a hero for saving the lives of several children during the shooting in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday. Army Pfc. Glendon Oakley Jr., 22, said he was inside a sporting goods store at the Cielo Vista Mall when a child ran inside and began shouting that there was an active shooter nearby. Oakley said once he exited the store, he saw children running everywhere. A group of them were huddled together in the mall’s play area, screaming for their parents. Albert Snyder of York, Pa., the father of a Westminster Marine who was killed in Iraq, today won his case in a Baltimore federal court against members of Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church who protested at his son's funeral last year. The jury of five women and four men awarded Snyder $2.9 million in compensatory damages. The amount of punitive damages to be awarded has not yet been decided. The jury deliberated for about two hours yesterday and much of today.
