Father of slain Marine wins case against funeral protesters

Albert Snyder of York, Pa., the father of a Westminster Marine who was killed in Iraq, today won his case in a Baltimore federal court against members of Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church who protested at his son's funeral last year.

The jury of five women and four men awarded Snyder $2.9 million in compensatory damages. The amount of punitive damages to be awarded has not yet been decided. The jury deliberated for about two hours yesterday and much of today.

I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt he'll ever see a dime of it.

They need to be horse whipped then tarred and feathered. A ride on a rail is in order too.

The Phelps’ need to be OJed anytime any one of them is seen anywhere with anything of value it should be taken out of their hands and turned over to the winner.

I was on a jury that awarded a guy a large amount of money. If the “church” doesn’t pay up, he can seize property and have it sold at auction to gain the money he has been awarded.

Great news! I don’t think he’ll get the settlement, but maybe it will knock ol Fred and Phamily back for a bit. I see red every time I hear about their turning up at a military funeral.

I'm pleased to see these creeps being held liable ... but $2.9 million in compensatory damages? That's an amazing award.
