Senate smear never paid a price for claiming he served. In the confirmation hearings for Jeff Sessions, president-elect Donald Trump’s choice for Attorney General, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Democrat, proceeded as though David Horowitz had been the AG choice. David Horowitz was not present but Blumenthal cited his statements that all the major Muslim organizations are connected to the Muslim Brotherhood, that 80 percent of the mosques in America are filled with hate against Jews, and that too many blacks are in prison because too many blacks commit crimes. Senator Blumenthal, an attorney, had not taken the trouble to investigate...

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) - At Archway Memorial Chapel in Hazelwood, owner Kenneth McGhee had nothing but good things to say about the Patriot Guard Riders, a volunteer motorcycle group that escorts funeral processions for fallen service members. "Very kind people, very diligent," McGhee said. "They are very dignified and very proud of the service they provide for fellow veterans." McGhee was particularly distressed to learn that a 64-year-old Patriot Guard Rider was struck by a vehicle and killed in south St. Louis County Monday while escorting a procession that originated at his funeral home. "Until we learned the...

On yesterdays mission, we were standing a flag line to the entrance of the cemetery waiting on the arrival of the coach. This young man, or should I say, Patriot, was skateboarding down the opposite side of the road. He saw all the flags and just had to check it out. He crossed the highway and came up to Peacekeeper to inquire about all the hub-bub. After Paul Anderson explained what we were doing, Paul invited Andrew to join us which he seemed genuinely exited to do. Andrew stood next to me so I offered him my flag. I...

Sandy “High Pockets” Hart of Santee has racked up 8,000 miles on her Harley-Davidson motorcycle honoring members of the military in this region. ((snip)) The Patriot Guard has grown from a handful of people who came together in 2005 to shelter families of troops killed in Iraq or Afghanistan from Westboro Baptist Church protesters, who claim that battlefield deaths are retribution for acceptance of gays and lesbians. It has since mushroomed to an estimated 300,000 volunteers nationwide, including more than 900 in Southern California. Hart had been a regular with a Harley-Davidson riding club based in San Diego, but all...

WASHINGTON — A husky voice gives a call to arms at Arlington National Cemetery and a row of nine bikers in jeans and leather vests salutes in unison as six Marines lift a coffin adorned with an American flag. The men don’t know the deceased or his family. But the uniforms — military and motorcycle — the thousands of white gravestones and the Stars and Stripes deeply connect the small gathering.((snip)) “We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that...

On Nov. 11, we observe Veterans Day to honor those who have served our country in the military and protected our way of life. Kansans can be proud that our state has a long history of supporting our country's veterans in gratitude for their service. These stories have and will continue to inspire people of our state, and nation, to do great things for those who sacrifice on our behalf. The Veterans Day holiday was founded by one of Kansas' own. Alvin King, of Emporia, proposed that Armistice Day be changed to recognize and honor veterans from all wars and...

There should be U.S. flags as far as the eye can see at Minnesota's Camp Ripley on Sunday. The Minnesota Patriot Guard says it's aiming for the longest known flag line in honor of military veterans during the base's open house. Flag lines are formed by people holding flags on poles a set distance apart. They are sometimes seen at soldier funerals to provide a buffer between those grieving and protesters. Patriot Guard members, many of whom ride motorcycles, are hoping for at least 2,000 participants.

Sergeant Charles “Leo” Wilson returns home to Ava, Missouri tonight. He has been escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders. (Thank you!) Ken just heard about this on the way home from work today. Ava is our home town. Upon checking the Funeral Home web page, we discovered that his niece was in our graduating class and Ken worked with his nephew. The funeral will be Saturday and God willing, we will be there. Thanks, once again, to all our veterans and their families. We don't have words to adequately tell how we appreciate your sacrifice. Mods, please move this thread if it doesn't belong in news. Georgia has been hit hard with the loss of 3 heroes in Afghanistan. All missions are in and around the Atlanta area. Rome, Peachtree City and Gainsville. This means the Guard will be stretched rather thin for all these missions. If any of you can attend, all the PGR mission threads containing details are located in the Georgia Forum. The link is: http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/profiles?location=58 You need not ride a motorcycle nor do you have to be a member of PGR to participate in honoring these heroes. I'll be going to...

On motorcycles and in a pickup, the Patriot Guard Riders on Monday escorted Spc. Frank Cheatham and more than 100 other soldiers from a Dyersburg armory along their first step to deployment in Iraq. Cheatham, of Hornbeak, Tenn., celebrated his 35th birthday with final hugs to his wife, two daughters, son, mother and sister in the chill morning air. The farewells came early and too quickly for Cheatham and his family. He returned from the Middle East fewer than six months ago, said his wife, Miki, 35. "He left on our anniversary last time," she said. One daughter, Madison, 13,...
