If anyone can help locate Vintage Frank from Queens, I am more than interested. Thank you! (His signature sign off when calling the Bob Grant Show.)

The Inventor of Controversial Talk Radio Probably no one in the history of New York talk radio is more associated with controversy than Bob Grant. No station is more associated with a wide variety of opinions than WABC. It's a perfect match. Bob Grant brings a history of more than 25 years of exciting talk to WABC. Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride! Life's more interesting that way! Controversial, opinionated and wildly popular, Bob Grant continues his long run as the "King of Talk Radio" in New York on WABC Radio. Bob has been in the...

Veteran New York radio personality Bob Grant — widely credited with inventing the conservative talk-radio format — has died at the age of 84. Grant, who lived in Toms River, N.J., passed away on New Year's Eve, according to the Branchburg Funeral Home. Grant began his career as a controversial talk show host in 1970 when he joined WMCA in New York and quickly bucked the liberal slant of many of the other hosts. The gravel-voiced talker's in-your-face opinions and regular telling off of callers often got him in hot water. He opened his show stating: "Good afternoon, ladies and...

The legendary and controversial Bob Grant has died. Grant spent the majority of his radio career talking in New York City. Grant moved to New York in 1970 to host a talk show on WMCA-AM, where he spent seven years steadily building his audience. Leaving WMCA in 1977, Grant worked his first stint at WOR, and later moved to WWDB in Philadelphia before returning to New York as the cornerstone of WABC’s new talk format in 1984. He remained at WABC until his much-publicized firing in 1996. Ten days later, Bob Grant was hired by WOR. …

I've listened to Bob Grant off and on for years, starting with the afternoon show on WOR 710. He was a true original, doing political talk radio years before it was in fashion and during the height of the so-called 'Fairness Doctrine'. Grant's show has always been provocative and has spawned a host of imitators: he was the original 'Get off my phone' guy who had zero patience for nitwit lefty callers. In addition to never suffering such fools, he also has good regular callers such as 'Jimmy from Brooklyn', who intimately understands the nature of the threat posed by...

"Mitt should have picked Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey as his running mate. Christie knows how to hit back. I only hope that by 2016 the GOP is smart enough to vote for Governor Christie. If they don’t pick him, then they might as well forget about being a national party. They can also forget about guys like me. There will be no point in allowing Hillary Clinton to pull another phony campaign out of her purse. I will be watching my fellow Republicans. And I don’t want to hear from any political moron who demands conservative purity. Those...

"Right now we have a clandestine campaign going on to make sure Newt Gingrich is the Republican candidate because he is so flawed and unsteady he will implode in a spectacular fashion. This man is lacking in moral character and he verges on the psychopathic. If you need any convincing, ask yourself why would that sleazebag, Michael Reagan, the adopted son of the great Ronald Reagan, be supporting him? I remember the 2004 election. George W. Bush was at Madison Square Garden where the Republican Convention was being held. All the broadcasters had a booth in operation. I had my...

My Easter Message April 22, 2011 Years ago Easter Sunday was more than the Easter Bunny and the Easter egg hunt and dressing up for the Easter parade. If you ask the average 12-year-old American kid what is Easter, he couldn’t tell you. Those of you who have listened to the Bob Grant Show on radio and of late read this column, know I am not a reverend or in any way known for pushing religion. I believe religion is a personal thing and if you worship in a different way than I do, so what? I think the worst...

Bob Grant is returning to WABC on Sundays, beginning September 13, and this has liberals outraged. Grant is 80 years old, and they still won't leave him alone. The columnists as usual only comment on things conservative hosts say, and include nothing that liberal hosts have said. http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2009/08/23/2009-08-23_tune_out_the_voice_of_hate_the_awful_bob_grant_is_back_on_the_citys_airwaves.html

It's another bad week for veteran New York radio personalities, as Bob Grant has lost his nightly show at WABC (again) and WBLS reportedly has terminated evening host Vaughn Harper and overnight host Champaine. A WABC (770 AM) spokeswoman confirmed that Grant will no longer do the 8-10 p.m. nightly show, but will do fill-in and other unspecified shifts. That could keep Grant busy for a while, because radio stations require lots of fill-ins during the yearend holidays. The bigger question may be whether his contract, which reportedly expires at the end of the year, will be renewed. Grant was...

Joe Scarborough looks like radio’s next syndicated talker. Can he make it, this time? The former Republican Congressman and current MSNBC "Morning Joe" host wants another shot at talk radio, and Citadel’s ABC Radio Networks is probably going to give him that chance. It would be for a late-morning program that might air 10-11:45am on WABC (770) and be syndicated nationally. Scarborough briefly hosted a show for Westwood in 2005. But it had trouble getting clearances in its 10am-1pm live timeslot and he left after about four months - the blink of an eye, in syndication terms. So what’s different...

Conservative pundit and author Ann Coulter declared that Barack Obama’s “civilian national security force” would likely result in “a lot more Waco raids.” The reference was to the February 1993 raid by federal agents on the Branch Davidian ranch near Waco and the subsequent siege, which left 86 dead, including four agents. During Coulter’s appearance on Bob Grant’s radio show on Nov. 5, Grant played a portion of Obama’s July 2 speech in Colorado: “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian...

Author Kenneth Timmermann was on Bob Grant's radio show tonight and he said that both the Obama and Clinton campaigns were secretly negotiating with the Iranian Islamic Republic. Timmermann said his source said that Obama has promised to recognized the Islamic Republic of Iran in exchange for a scale down nuclear weapons program. It also included what influence Iran would have in Iraq. The Islamic Republic believes that Obama has a better chance in the winning the election. I have heard Timmermann before and he seems to be a credible person even though he writes for Newsmax. He throughly documents...
