Bob Grant calls Michael Reagan a sleazebag

"Right now we have a clandestine campaign going on to make sure Newt Gingrich is the Republican candidate because he is so flawed and unsteady he will implode in a spectacular fashion. This man is lacking in moral character and he verges on the psychopathic. If you need any convincing, ask yourself why would that sleazebag, Michael Reagan, the adopted son of the great Ronald Reagan, be supporting him?

I remember the 2004 election. George W. Bush was at Madison Square Garden where the Republican Convention was being held. All the broadcasters had a booth in operation. I had my broadcast booth close to Michael Reagan."

So the sum total of why Bob Grant hates Michael Reagan has to do with the fact that Michael Reagan was kind of rude to him once upon a time? Who knew Bob Grant was such a whiny beee-atch?

Sad that the former conservative, Grant, has bought into the Newt’s nuts, Romney will be a GREAT President and is “THE most electable, everyone else has said so, so it must be true.”

Television is such a unifier...it has brought forth all the 20+ year-old adolescents in the world, and given them a National "schoolyard" in which to call each other names.

America...the nation where half the people never grow up.

Sounds like it's a personal thing:

I remember the 2004 election. George W. Bush was at Madison Square Garden where the Republican Convention was being held. All the broadcasters had a booth in operation. I had my broadcast booth close to Michael Reagan. I walked over to his booth to invite him to appear on my show. I walked over to him and said , “Hello, Michael. I’m Bob Grant and I would like to have you on my show.” He looked at me with not even a hint of cordiality and coldly said, “I know who you are.” I must tell you his behavior made me feel strange. I had never said anything negative about him. As a matter of fact, I don’t believe I had ever said anything about him on the air or off. Nevertheless, there was this animus which was unmistakable. What was and is his problem? Is it jealousy? It really doesn’t matter what it is. Whatever it is, I hope he doesn’t convince any of you to vote for his candidate. Michael is a disgrace as are his step siblings, Ron Jr. and Patti Davis. How such a magnificent couple as Ronald and Nancy Reagan could have such children is pathetic and contrary to logic.

Not really something that the rest of us have to bother about.

Well, as Bob said, it must be jealousy. I know I’m VERY jealous of Bob Grant; who wouldn’t be?

Grant’s up there in age you know. Oh the poor man ! He’s having a senior moment and can’t tell the difference between Reagan’s kids.

This is pretty sad. Grant almost made his reputation on rudeness as much as his well-articulated conservative viewpoint. My guess is that Michael Reagan, who strikes me as a pretty classy guy, just didn't know who Bob was and/or he had other things on his mind.

I’ve only heard other talk show hosts mention Bob Grant, but never actually heard Grant himself on a show. From the way most other talkers yack about him he’s like the old patriarch of radio talkers.

BTW, Grant for the longest time advanced sterilization and supported the opinion of the Courts that first-trimester nascent human life is not a life worth saving.

Grant, your tennis shoes are too damn tight!

It's the problem with pioneers. You do something new, create a new field, and then it gets away from you, and you can't keep up with the new steps your succesors take. You get locked into the innovations that you made years ago. They become routine and you don't see where to go from there.

Bob Grant came in with this kind of Joe Pyne or Wally George or Morton Downey Jr. rudeness and obnoxiousness. That was where talk radio was 40 years ago. The medium evolved away from that, and Bob didn't evolve with it, but stuck with the style of his own day.

Grant is your typical North Eastern Republican with the gift of a nasty tongue as it concerns his profession. While he has been unjustly crucified for various remarks, he certainly deserves to be rebuked from time to time.
