The increase of vulgarity and profanity on this board is troublesome to me. It was not always so. I can remember the “olden days”. There was no profanity. None. And there was no chat. None. The first Freepers held one another to a high standard of discourse. I wonder why and how the profanity has become so common? The rule in the reply box includes “no profanity”. Do we have a problem of definition as to what constitutes profanity? Does replacing one of the letters in the “F” word with %## or ! mean that we have not used profanity...

If I come as an immigrant, you have an obligation to make me a citizen"So says Obama Aunt Zeituni Onyango. Onyango got permission to visit here in 2000 and overstayed her welcome. She sought asylum in 2003 and was turned down. She stayed anyway. Although on the public dole, she managed to donate $260 to Barack OBama's Presdential campaign. That's illegal, of course. Michael Graham notes with irony: Aunt Zeituni donated $260 to her nephew’s campaign for president - which is also against the law because she’s not a U.S. citizen. How against the law is it? Remember when the...

Top Obama adviser David Axelrod got an earful of the liberal blogosphere's anger at the White House moments ago, when a blogger on a conference call directly called out Axelrod over White House criticism of the left, accusing the administration of "hippie punching." "We're the girl you'll take under the bleachers but you won't be seen with in the light of day," the blogger, Susan Madrak of Crooks and Liars, pointedly told Axelrod on the call, which was organzied for liberal bloggers and progressive media[...] Madrak replied that Axelrod was missing the point -- that the criticism of the left...

NEA recommends the following Saul Alinsky books to those members of our Association who are involved in grassroots organizing, especially Association Representatives (ARs) — also known as building reps or shop stewards — and leaders at local affiliates. Saul Alinsky is widely recognized as the father of, and pre-imminent expert in, grassroots organizing, which is why we recommend that ARs and local leaders become familiar with his theories & materials. Alinsky’s writings have been called the “mother’s milk of the left,” however in an ironic homage, the conservative right has borrowed a page or two from the Alinsky playbook. Tea...
