NEA recommends the following Saul Alinsky books to those members of our Association who are involved in grassroots organizing, especially Association Representatives (ARs) also known as building reps or shop stewards and leaders at local affiliates.
Saul Alinsky is widely recognized as the father of, and pre-imminent expert in, grassroots organizing, which is why we recommend that ARs and local leaders become familiar with his theories & materials.
Alinskys writings have been called the mothers milk of the left, however in an ironic homage, the conservative right has borrowed a page or two from the Alinsky playbook. Tea Party leader and self-described conservative radical Michael Patrick Leahy, for example, has authored a book based on Alinskys teachings: Rules for Conservative Radicals.
We hope that ARs and local leaders of all political stripes will discern from Alinskys books grassroots organizing strategies that will best help us bring our members together around the common goal of improving public education.

Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom Lucifer
IT IS TIME TO END ALL TAXPAYER FUNDING OF EDU, EPA, NEA, INTERIOR ETC ETC ETC. NOW!
Alinsky’s crap is just that... crap.
Some wiener made up some supposed “rules” out of thin air which
have never been shown to be effective for anything and we are afraid of this?
Folks need to get over quaking at the mention of “Alinsky”.
They’ve all have probably already read Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto so Alinsky will probably have to do.
That’s why in Britain the NEA equivalent is the NUTs (National Union of Teachers). Real Truth in advertising.
When children come home with a copy of it because their teacher told them to read it...maybe that will get peoples attention.
That’s my point. It is time Americans put their foot down and defund these agencies.

ARs are NOT building reps. BRs are elected by the teachers in the building and have no power in the school or union what so ever. They serve to inform members of changes in local, state, or federal rules that affect us. They help with contract issues, issue ballots for votes, and report to the union any major problems that could led to a grievance being filed. In short they are the gofers for the executive board that does have the power.
BTW there is a Conservative Educators Caucus in the union. Not very powerful yet, but if conservative NEA members could get some support we could get in the fight for real.
The little buggers can read Harry Potter, too.
The spells don't work, the magic is fictional.
Alinsky's book is nothing to fear. It's a catch-phrase for weak folks who need a catch-all term for leftist activities.
Don't be weak. Spit on Alinsky. Ptui!!!
This clown needed the hell beat out of him every time he spoke.
If one wants proof that there’s no “education” in the NEA, and that a degree in education is worthless (remember, Ayers has a doctorate in this first-grade subject)...the proof is in this article.
I happily join you.

Must be an English teacher.
To be "pre-immanent" means to be somewhere before that wandering about wondering if there's a doorway someplace.
I copied it as is.
Nothing surprises me anymore.
I think you might get more support than you think.
Didn't know if you already knew about this or not.
It's the kind of thing that just a touch of knowledge or information from outside the neighborhood can destroy UTTERLY.
It was Alinsky's belief that "Change comes from power, and power comes from organization." Yet, with a modest amount of information, all but the most thoroughly institutionalized and well guarded organization can be disposed of like fluff. In truth "change" has its own mind, and "power" is frequently the first derivative of truth, and anything less than the truth will eventually get tangled up in its footwork and dispose of its proponants.
Somehow Alinsky got buried in a whole bunch of 19th century gobblydygook and just clean done plum fergot the old axiom that BS walks and money talks ~ (money being the language of well established institutions and organizational elements like governments, coinage, money, commercial codes, religions, and firearms).
I think we can use Alinsky's rules as a guide to how both the Obamistas and Clintonistas can be destroyed.
The commiecrats have a playbook(s) that teaches their minions how to employ radical tactics to gain control of the political landscape, schools, media etc..
The news media will never report the fact that the playbook(s) is required reading by the NEA..
Yet here you are using those same tactics on anyone who dares expose them.. Hmmmmmmm...
I've seen you browbeat people for posting blog postings to the news section... If we would've waited for the 'news' to report the facts on Rathergate we would've never learned the truth...
But don't let that stop you from pouncing on folks who may actually scoop the "news" folks with some actual facts..
