Born probably near Spalatum (Split) with the name Diocles on 22 December AD 240 or 245, Diocletian was the son of a poor family in Dalmatia. It is said, that his father, apparently a scribe of a wealthy senator, might have been a former slave. Diocles rose through the ranks of the military and achieved high position. Throughout the AD 270's he was military commander in Moesia. From AD 283 onwards, under Carus and his son and successor Numerian he acted as commander of the imperial bodyguard (protectores domestici) and appears a rather dubious figure in the deaths of both...

Code Pink was out numbered by 3 or 4 to 1 and NOT happy about it!

He has had many years in which to make these same points...And then. after speaking thus and doing so at the time Rev Wright actually made his pronouncements - rather than waiting for a crisis in one of his electoral campaigns [as he has done] - he might have then actually done some things, in his capacity as a US Senator, to put those words into action

I wonder if anyone here imagines that Obama will do a Captain Queeg-like meltdown if the pressure grows? I would love to hear from others...

Predictions of record flooding along the lower Meramec River inspired many residents to load pickups and head for higher ground today, but the Valley Park mayor was urging his residents to stay put behind their new $49 million levee.

Get your barf bags ready, boys and girls. Barack Obama could have stayed home and forgotten about his speech yesterday, because America's liberals had all weekend to come up with excuses for hate speech, and they came up with some doozies. A few random thoughts, and then I'll get to the freakiest excuse of them all. Expect to hear Pat Robertson's name kicked around a lot over the next few days as Obama's defenders try to draw equivalency between his comments about 9/11 and Wright's decades of hate speech. On Glenn Beck's show last night we were treated to NPR/Esquire...

by Antenna Wilde Ever since Obama's speech on 3/18/08, one segment keeps ringing in my brain: "I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents." Wow… even Eskimo? This guy is good; he genetically associated himself with every person on the planet—in just one sentence. I'm sure that nailed down the Siamese-twin and hermaphrodite vote as well. All he has to do is get those aliens from Area 54 registered, and he's a shoe-in. I'd like to suggest the perfect running mate: Tiger Woods. I'm kind of jealous, that's all....

Dr. Walid Al-Rashudi, head of the Department of Islamic Studies at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, has decried “the incessant Zionist propaganda regarding the so-called Holocaust.” At issue, according to Rashudi, is the head-count of victims. “If 6 million died, where are the bodies?” Rashudi demanded to know, apparently unaware that most of the victims bodies had be cremated. Rashudi provided his own “best estimate” that about “50 to 60 Jews, at most died” and speculated that “the majority of these were probably killed by Allied bombing.” “Hitler has been slandered,” Rashudi claimed. “And Jews have used this slander to...

The Supreme Court of the United States has decided to take on the DC v. Heller case, and one of our candidates for Congress recently discussed the case with Jerry Agar, and you can listen in below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE6hAVzJyJU Its always good to see someone from this area get recognized nationally. John Armor is running for Congress in the NC-11 district. Here are two of the places I have been frequenting to keep up with this very important case, SCOTUSblog, and The Volokh Conspiracy, although the Bench Memo and the blogfather have been following it as well.

Besides that fact that the living God admitted today to lying on national television, his "race speech" was offensive and marks a giant leap forward for those who appreciate race baiting and victimization. The speech no doubt resonated with his followers, whose bobble head reaction was predictable. But for those of us not willing to buy into the Obama cult, the Reverend Wright scandal was not about race. It was about a presidential candidates mentor and spiritual leader accosting America, saying we brought 9-11 on ourselves and "inventing" the HIV virus. It was about a presidential canidate who claims he...

There's been lots of stories in the blogosphere the last couple days about Obama throwing his white grandmother under the bus when he tried to compare her to his racist preacher. What also needs to be appreciated is that he could really care less about his black Kenyan grandmother either. Together the Obamas made 1.67 million in 2005: In 2005, their income was $1.67 million, which was more than they had earned in the previous seven years combined. This helped them to guy a mansion: That year, as the Tribune reported, the Obamas moved to a $1.65-million Georgian Revival mansion...

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - Thomas Jefferson The Bill of Rights clearly articulates rights guaranteed to all citizens of the United States. Rights are largely a moral concept – the concept that facilitates individuals living within a larger society. The Bill of Rights essentially gives legal meaning to the moral rights expected of a free society. Stated another way, individual rights are the means of subordinating society to moral law. Since it cannot rightly be said that...

One of the big stories out of the southwest this week has been the abduction of a toddler from Child Protective Services--apparently abducted by his parents, apparently with the complicity of someone who has worked with CPS. According to Parents suspected of abuse accused of abducting tot (Arizona Republic, 3/15/08): "A 17-month-old who police say was abducted by his parents and presumably taken to Mexico has been in the care of Child Protective Services since he was about 2 months old, when abuse allegations surfaced. Authorities' efforts to find little Miguel Echave-Felix continued Friday... "Police said Miguel was kidnapped Wednesday...

Barack Obama wants America to believe that he went to the Trinity United Church of Christ for twenty years, and while he found the good Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright to be an “occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy” and heard him “make remarks that could be considered controversial,” he never heard him make them in the church or in private conversation with him...

UPDATED, 10 a.m. Missouri has been drenched with an inch to 10 inches of rain, swelling rivers and streams, driving residents from their homes and killing several people. The latest fatality involved a 67-year-old Springfield, Mo., man who died Tuesday night after he drove his 2006 Ford Focus into flood water on a farm road a mile east of his home. Troopers said the man likely died of a heart attack, but the car floated down stream 600 feet before it lodged onto debris floating in the water. The man, Ronald B. Rudd was pronounced dead at 7 p.m. His...

Many sources report these words of Jeremiah Wright: Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people! Wright is reporting what Obama thinks. In other words, Obama's spiritual mentor is telling us about insight he has into Barack Hussein Obama to the effect that Wright KNOWS what Obama thinks. There were conversations, dinners, social events, or other opportunities for sharing, and what Wright took away from them is that Barack Obama believes that "Rich White folks" are controlling everything. Everything. 1. Obama's speech dealt with...

Cromwell: Now, Sir Thomas, you stand on your silence. Sir Thomas More: I do. Cromwell: But, gentlemen of the jury, there are many kinds of silence. ... Suppose I were to take a dagger from my sleeve and make to kill the prisoner with it; and my lordships there, instead of crying out for me to stop, maintained their silence. That would betoken! It would betoken a willingness that I should do it, and under the law, they will be guilty with me. So silence can, according to the circumstances, speak! Let us consider now the circumstances of the prisoner's...
