Joseph Bologna, an actor, playwright and screenwriter who was so memorable as the egotistical King Kaiser in the 1982 comedy classic My Favorite Year, has died. He was 82. Bologna died Sunday morning at City of Hope hospital in Duarte, Calif. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer three years ago, said his wife of 52 years, actress and screenwriter Renee Taylor. Bologna received an Oscar nomination for adapted screenplay, shared with his wife and David Zelag Goodman, for his work on Lovers and Other Strangers (1970). The couple had first written it for Broadway in a 1968 production directed by...

Rio Has Given Up On Its Goal To Clean Up The Water In Time For The Olympics When bidding to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, Rio de Jaineiro promised the International Olympics Committee that it would eliminate 80 percent of the sewage found in the city's notoriously filthy water, and would fully regenerate the lagoon in which rowing and kayaking events will be held. Now a few months from the start of the games, Rio has given up on keeping those promises. Outside The Lines' Bonnie Ford has a thorough examination of the current state of Rio's water pollution, and...

While channel surfing I accidentally breezed by CNN and paused just long enough to see Wittle Wicky trying to be a good wittle boy and show a police helicopter being shot down by some criminals. He wasn't even trying to be subtle. He came right out and said with incredulity something like - and this is where the 2016 Olympics will be held. CNN isn't being just a little transparent are they?
  • UFO disclosure in Brazil: More top-secret files released by government

The Brazilian Government has just declassified a new set of significant previously secret UFO documents, now covering the 80s. We already had disclosures covering the 50s, 60s and 70s, all with very important documents and information. So far over 4,000 pages have been disclosed. The recent disclosure is particularly powerful because it contains dozens of reports of UFOs on May 19, 1986, considered the “Official UFO Night in Brazil”, when 21 spherical objects, estimated 100 meters in diameter – according to military sources – were detected by radars and spotted by civilian pilots, and literally jammed air traffic over the...

Francisco Teixeira is up at 6 every morning, taking care of his 7-month-old daughter. The 33-year-old then heads to the Brazilian Convenience Store on Main Street, which he runs with his wife. They keep it open until 8 every night. Teixeira has been in the United States for the past 12 years, including his first eight in Massachusetts. After a four-year stint in Florida, he moved here to take over the store last month. The state has become his second home. After having a child, he said, he isn't considering going back to Brazil, and is looking to buy a...

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - A Brazilian man who went to a clinic to have an aching ear checked ended up having a vasectomy after mistakenly believing that the doctor had called his name. A manager at the Doctor Jose Carlos de Espirito Santo clinic in the town of Montes Claros in southeastern Minas Gerais State told Reuters Wednesday Valdemar Lopes de Moraes, 39, entered the vasectomy room when Aldemar Aparecido Rodrigues' name was called. "He was called by the full name and yet thought it was him. But the strangest thing is that he asked no questions when the...
