AUSTIN, Texas -- Bevo XIII, the winningest and longest-serving mascot in University of Texas history, died Monday, Oct. 9 at the age of 22. He died less than 48 hours after the Longhorns defeated the Oklahoma Sooners, 28-10, in the 2006 edition of the Red River Rivalry. Originally named Sunrise Express, Bevo XIII was born in February 1984 and became the UT mascot in 1988, serving for 16 years.
