Where you see the Texas Longhorns, you expect to see the most famous Longhorn of all, the team mascot, Bevo. But you won’t see him at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday.
That’s because Peach Bowl organizers claim Bevo is just too big.
“We love all of the great traditions of college football, and no doubt Bevo is one of the best, but the unfortunate reality is there simply is not enough room on the sidelines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium,” Peach Bowl organizers wrote in a statement released on Monday.

Maybe beef on the sideline conflicts with the sponsor of the bowl... /jk
There was also the issue of Bevo’s breaking out of his enclosure and trying to kill the opposing team’s mascot in 2019, but....
This is a good point. Eat Mor Chik’n indeed.
Tightest sidelines in the NCAA.
Good point!
Reminds me of a cartoon depicting a dejected husband, surrounded by police, gazing at his wife on the living room floor stating, “I didn’t believe her when she said her girdle was killing her.”
They’re still butt-hurt over Bevo attacking their stupid little bulldog when he got to close.
If they had ANY balls, the NCAA would step in an require them to allow the team mascot.
I worked on a ranch that had a herd of Longhorns, they’re really big, really smart, and not to be messed with.
We had a few shorter-horns in my neighborhood that I wouldn’t mess with, either.
If modern college games didn’t have 800-900 people standing on the sidelines there might be room.
He wasn’t going to do anything but look at the dog. If he’d wanted to kill him, it would have been over and done with in 2 seconds flat. No amount of handlers would have been able to stop him. He merely stretched his neck out making one of the fence sections to tip. Much ado about nothing. Yeah, we raised cattle.
Chick-fil-A?......
It was rather stupid of the humans to bring the dog out right by Bevo. But Bevo obviously wasn’t doing anything. If he were going to stomp the dog, the handlers wouldn’t have been able to stop him.
What if that beef critter decided to ‘pull a nutty” as my sweet (RIP) neighbor used to say?
Aiyee!!
Eh, they want to have that large a mascot, they may only be able to have him for home games. Can’t expect everyone else to cater to the Longhorns eccentricities.
I’m with you. That was not an attack.
Are we not men?
We are Devo....
How big is it?
Game is on Wednesday, Jan 1, not Saturday.
