Bed Bath & Beyond Inc filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Sunday after the home goods retailer failed to secure funds to stay afloat. The Union, New Jersey-based home goods retailer filed for bankruptcy in a District of New Jersey court, listing both its estimated assets and liabilities in the range of $1 billion and $10 billion, according to a court filing. Bed Bath & Beyond said that it has received a commitment of approximately $240 million in debtor-in-possession financing from Sixth Street Specialty Lending Inc, according to a separate statement. The company added that its 360 Bed Bath...

Bed Bath & Beyond didn't pay severance to thousands of workers. The company laid off more than 1,000 workers in New Jersey days before a new severance law took effect. In early February, Diane Zaccagna learned that the Bed Bath & Beyond store in New Jersey where she had been working for 18 and a half years was closing and she would be laid off. "We knew Bed Bath was in trouble, but we thought we would have at least a couple more years," said Zaccagna, 50, who started out as a part-time employee and climbed her way to a...

Bed Bath & Beyond is closing 150 more stores — just a week after the struggling retailer announced the closure of 87 locations. The company's brick-and-mortar footprint has already shrunk dramatically, a regulatory filing showed late Monday, and the new closings mean it will have shuttered 400 stores in the past year — almost half the 950 or so stores it had open in February 2022. That includes last week's announcement that it was also closing all 49 remaining Harmon Face Value stores, which sold cosmetics; plus 5 BuyBuy Baby locations. A list of the new store closures wasn't immediately...

Bed Bath & Beyond on Tuesday posted wider quarterly losses than expected as its chief executive acknowledged the struggling retailer’s turnaround plan had not achieved its goals. Days after the company warned of potential bankruptcy, it painted an even more dire picture of its finances. Bed Bath lost $393 million during the fiscal third quarter, it said Tuesday, worse even than the $385.8 million quarterly loss it projected just last week and a 42% increase from year-ago losses. Bed Bath’s net losses have now exceeded $1.12 billion for the first nine months of the fiscal year.

Bed Bath & Beyond is considering declaring bankruptcy as the New Jersey-based retailer looks for ways to pare its debt. The home goods seller said in a news release that "there is substantial doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern" and that it is exploring a range of strategic alternatives, including selling assets, seeking additional capital or seeking bankruptcy protection. Shares of Bed Bath & Beyond, which jumped in 2021 as traders embraced the so-called meme stock, fell more than 20% in early trade. The company said it expects a net loss of $385.8 million in...

Bed Bath & Beyond exec Gustavo Arnal didn’t say a word to his wife before apparently leaping to his death from their swank, 18th-floor apartment in Lower Manhattan, The Post has learned. Arnal, 52, also didn’t leave a note explaining the plunge, which occurred while his wife was in the home with him around 12:20 a.m. Friday, law-enforcement sources said Sunday.

“Go woke, go broke” is the slogan that keeps on giving. The latest installment of woke, politically active retailers now facing financial ruin in the form of shuttering stores and mass layoffs is none other than conservative-hating Bed Bath & Beyond. According to CNBC, the retailer announced this week that it will close down 150 namesake stores, as well as plans to hand out pink slips to a whopping 20% of its workforce, mostly in the supply chain and corporate sectors of the business. The moves were announced ahead of an expected investor update on Wednesday in the company’s seemingly...

Within months after dropping MyPillow products from their stores, Bed Bath & Beyond is in a fiscal freefall. They have now fired their CEO and are turning off air conditioners in retail stores across the country in an effort to save money. Chances are dropping MyPillow played less of a role in their current freefall than the fact that Bidenomics is tearing through retail stores like an Oklahoma tornado, but it’s conspicuous that Bed Bath & Beyond seems to have been hit harder than less “woke” retailers. For transparency, we wholeheartedly support MyPillow, not just because they’re one of our...

A viral petition urging some of the country's biggest retail chains to stop selling MyPillow products has gained more than 90,000 signatures. The change.org petition demanding businesses such as Walmart and Amazon remove items from Mike Lindell's company from sale was created in mid-January after he was photographed holding a note before a meeting with then-president Donald Trump which appeared to show him advocating for martial law being imposed. The meeting took place in the wake of the deadly attack at the Capitol on January 6 in which far-right extremists and Trump supporters attempted to overthrow the government in support...

...Desperate for tax revenue, cities and towns across the country now routinely take property from unwilling sellers to make way for big-box retailers. Condemnation cases aren't tracked nationally, but even retailers themselves acknowledge that the explosive growth of the format in the 1990s and torrid competition for land has increasingly pushed them into increasingly problematic areas -- including sites owned by other people... [A] shareholder resolution: "adopt a policy for land procurement and use that incorporates social and environmental factors," particularly, the wishes of local property owners and community groups.... "If the company continues to operate in this manner, with...
