I know, the title is creepy, but before jumping at me, just consider these facts... 1. IT IS THE WORST TIME TO BE IN POWER FOR ANY NATIONAL PARTY America has been suffering the worst economic crisis since 1929. Americans are blaming the party ruling the executive branch for this rout, and that's why McCain numbers are so low. Now think that Obama will begin his presidency with America depressed. The power will be 100% controlled by Democrats, and the anger of the folks will turn against them. 2. DECMOCRATS WILL HATE OBAMA JUST AS THEY NOW HATE THEIR DEMOCRATIC...

Sen. Barack Obama jumped to a 7-point lead in a Pennsylvania statewide poll of registered voters conducted between Sept. 23-Sept. 28 by Franklin & Marshall College. Franklin & Marshall poll director G. Terry Madonna told Tribune-Review reporter David M. Brown that the fundamentals are shifting in Obama’s favor with some support gains coming from female and independent voters. Late last evening, I stopped into a Southwestern Pennsylvania auto service garage and asked the three gentlemen working on various vehicles what their thoughts were on the election.

The government takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was necessary because of their massive losses on more than $1 trillion of subprime and Alt-A investments, almost all of which were added to their single-family book of business between 2005 and 2007. The most plausible explanation for the sudden adoption of this disastrous course--disastrous for them and for the U.S. financial markets--is their desire to continue to retain the support of Congress after their accounting scandals in 2003 and 2004 and the challenges to their business model that ensued. Although the strategy worked--Congress did not adopt strong government-sponsored enterprise (GSE)...

I think I speak for more than a few here when I say: I think I'm going to scream if I see another vanity thread on the bailout bill! Crap. I just saw one. AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I feel better now. Thank you.

Dan and Judy were the typical American couple. Ten years ago they purchased a 1000sq foot ranch home in a quiet suburban neighborhood. It was everything they ever dreamed of. Judy loved the huge yard surrounded by raspberry bushes and the family spent many nights laughing around the fire pit while roasting marshmellows. Dan built a rec area in the basement so the teenagers could have their friends over for vidio games or a game of pool. They worked hard and enjoyed life. Family are their fondest and most treasured moments. It didnt matter to them that they had a...

John missed an opportunity to call Obama out and have him try to defend giving 700B to Wall Street. He had a chance to introduce a new plan, but didn't. I say no to bail out, force these people who bought these houses to live in them and pay for them. Extend their terms to 50 or even 100 years if they need to. You and I know, there are people who are walking away from their houses because they don't have a stake in the game. They purchased houses far away from the city, then the value of their...

A friend of my sent me this note and I wanted to share it with every one I know. I would add my own comment about the upcoming election. If in any race at the federal level, an incumbent is returned to their seat, then the people of our Great country did not do their job. This election is critical, no matter what side of the aisle you are on. Brad White My friends; I am against the $85 Billion dollar bail out of AIG Instead, I am in favor of giving that same $85 Billion to America in a...

1. This is the largest expansion of government in the history of the world. 2. When the surgeon screws up a procedure and you sue for malpractice, who do you hire for the next surgery to repair the damage? The "oversight board" that the bill purported to create consisted of the exact same people who let this happen in the first place. 3. We are willing to take a short term hit in order to prevent the next trillion dollar bail out, and the next, and so on, because we don't believe either Wall Street or the government should be...

Last night Newt stated on Greta that the CEO of Goldman Sachs was the only private company represented at a meeting concerning bailout of AIG with Tres. Sec Paulson (former CEO of Goldman Sachs) and that Goldman Sachs had exposure of 20 billion dollars with AIG.The Newt stated Bush should fire Paulson. That this was a huge conflict of interest.Anyone hear more about this?

There are two reasons for our economic problems. The first is the refusal of Democrats to allow us to develop our own resources. The second is the Democratic slush fund call Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Why can't we make this case?? If we didn't have these problems we would be in great shape! How do we get around the biased press coverage and get this message out? McCain is dropping the ball!!!

This is a naming thread since the GOP won't do it.

McCain comes on FOX News cable this morning, about 30 minutes ago, and throws the election away. All he had to do was say that he is with the American people, that the American people had concerns with this bill and he is with the American people and understands why. All he had to do was say he is working for the American people and not politicians who create the problems and then want to be the same politicians who want to be in charge with fixing the problem. That this bill didn’t have the real reform we needed, that...

We can phone Congress and express our opinion but what else can we do? It drives me crazy that the legislators that are responsible for this debacle are still in charge of the same areas. What can we do about this outrage? Is the web of lies too entertwined in big business and all political parties? I believe if investigated, it would center on these democrats in power now and the CBC. The gate keepers have been very irresponsible and they should suffer the consequences.

We should rejoice in the fact that our Congressional representation actually listened to us and not the corrupt party leadership as they defeated the bailout. We might have cut our own throats, but at least for once they listened.

Does anyone know where I can see Pelosi's "offensive to republicans" speech from yesterday?

Blunt was first elected to Congress in 1996, when incumbent Congressman Mel Hancock honored his pledge to serve only four terms. Why can't all congressman be term limited to 8 years such as Mel Hancock and Tom Coburn agreed to? I am very upset (assuming politico website was true) Blunt encouraged retiring law markets to vote for this sham of a bill saying they won't face voters. I e-mailed a bunch of challengers of Republicans and Democrats who voted for this bill. The common answer was there's no way we'll win since it's a solid Republic/Democrat district. Look at Charlie...

I've not gotten to watch much of the MSMers today, but on a short break, I got to take a look at the CNBC guys and I suspect the conversation I saw between the anchor and somebody on the floor of one of the exchanges is a common thread for today. The common theme for today I suspect is that the market is recovering much of its losses because they expect that a deal will be done very soon. Specifically during this conversation, the guy on the floor talked about the e-mails Congress are now receiving in favor of the...
