BATH, Maine (AP) — The U.S. Navy is ready to take ownership of the Zumwalt, its largest and most technologically sophisticated destroyer. Sailors' uniforms and personal effects, supplies and spare parts are being moved aboard the 610-foot warship in anticipation of crew members taking on their new charge, said Capt. James Kirk, the destroyer's skipper. The Zumbalt is the first new class of warship built at Bath Iron Works since the Arleigh Burke slid into the Kennebec River in 1989. The shipyard is expected to turn the destroyer over to the Navy this week. "We've overcome lots of obstacles to...

Either would be highly unpopular, and each party would blame the other. The public, however, would almost certainly blame Republicans. And which blame, according to Ponnuru and those...

Christian County commuters traveling into Springfield's east side can look forward to three levels of highway driving if a proposed redesign of the U.S. Highway 60/65 interchange north of Ozark is approved. The Missouri Dept. of Transportation released its plans for the redesigned interchange at a public meeting July 13 at its offices in Springfield. Visitors were able to view numerous conceptual designs for the project and discuss the work with MoDOT planners.
