Adams was excoriated by conservative anti-tax groups and radio talkers (two of whom called to have his "head on a pike"), and a recall was threatened. It soon became apparent, however, that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Democratic leaders were rewarding Adams for his tax vote in the form of a budget "trailer bill" that amended redevelopment law. Sacramento, CA (AP) -- A California Republican Party committee has voted to reprimand six GOP lawmakers who voted for a compromise budget plan that boosts taxes. The measure, which was endorsed Saturday during the party's spring meeting in Sacramento, also denies the lawmakers any financial support from the party during the 2010 elections.
