A new mutant strain of mpox has been detected in England, health officials warned today. The unnamed patient had recently come to the UK after traveling to Asia. Seeking medical advice, the case was flagged with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) who undertook laboratory testing and discovered the strain contained elements of both 'clade Ib and clade IIb mpox'.
