In Southern California, conservative radio has reached a new ratings high: first place. That would be KFI-AM we're talking about, home of Rush Limbaugh and morning host Bill Handel. With an overall share of 4.9 revealed in the lastest monthly Arbitron trend report, KFI has rocketed into the number one position, surpassing Spanish language formats and FM music stations. As far as we can tell, it's the first time this has occurred in Los Angeles.

On this morning's (Tuesday) Today, at 8:52am, Al Franken was on to promote his new book The Truth (with Jokes) and repeated his twisted quip from Friday's Late Show with David Letterman in which he predicted that Karl Rove and Lewis "Scooter" Libby will be "executed" for treason. Franken's "joke," that "George H.W. Bush, the President's father, said...that outing a CIA agent is treason. I agree. So I think that Rove and Libby will be executed," drew laughter from Matt Lauer and those in the Today show studio. [This item, by the MRC's Geoffrey Dickens, was posted late this morning...

Left of the Dial, which looks to be a 90-minute documentary that will deliver a glowing tribute to the left wing Air America radio talk show service, will debut Thursday night on HBO. The HBO Web site touted how "a group of investors set out to launch a liberal radio network that would challenge the dominance of America's airwaves by conservative talk radio." A synopsis of the documentary recounted how "in the days before launch, the energy picks up amidst a whirlwind of photo shoots, CNN sound bites, the creation of marketing/PR materials, and delivery of the hot-off-the-presses New York...
  • Shakeup At Air America Radio: CEO and Program Director Out

The Associated Press is reporting a shakeup in Air America Radio's top management. Mark Walsh, has stepped down as CEO of the new liberal Radio network and its Program Director, David Logan, has been put on "administrative leave". According to the AP, Walsh said, "he gave up his CEO title earlier this month but will continue to pursue deals for Progress Media." Progress Media is the parent company of Air America Radio. There was no further clarification as to why Logan was no longer actively programming the network. In the interim, Air America Radio is being run by David Goodfriend...

Sorry for the vanity, but this is information I thought Freepers would like to hear about. Apparently due to unresolved contractual disputes, the Los Angeles and Chicago affiliates of leftist Air America Radio have pulled the programming from their airwaves and returned to local programming. I'm hearing this second hand, so if anyone has verifiable information or clarifications, please post them.

I was listening to Air America online today, and I noticed that the majority of the the "O'Franken Factor" is dedicated to playing clips of Rush, Hannity, ect...., and responding to them. There is no message or philosophy as for them, just criticism of conservatives. Which is there right, but without any substance, makes their network flacid. I was looking forward to this network, because I've never heard a cognant liberal argument or philosophy that unifies all believers, and as to date, still waiting.

A Wonketeer writes, point your browser here (link) at noon and you will be able to listen to this crap fest yourself.Don't do it before noon or you will be subjected to more 1950's music than you can handle. When you think about it, it totally makes sense : Air America the liberal radio network, will not be broadcasting in the DC metro area.. DC went 70 percent for Gore! They don't need convincing. We suspect that Air America will blow. Then again, it could suck.Or perhaps it will achieve some mysterious simultaneous combination of the two. And while we are normally...

Whoever said that liberal radio couldn't be entertaining certainly hasn't listened to the first hour of this "monumental event". This show is so bad. Just to amuse yourself with what the liberals want to air in a head-to-head showdown against Rush Limbaugh, give it a listen. It will make your day. Needless to say, no worries of success here.

SCHEDULED TO LAUNCH ON THE EVE OF APRIL FOOLS’ DAY, the new “liberal” network Air America Radio is to begin airing on stations in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland and, maybe, San Francisco, five liberal cities where it can rouse the already-converted. Several of its key programs can also be heard via XM Satellite Radio’s new “America Left” Channel 167, also launching March 31.  (Air America’s Vice President of Programming Dave Logan was programming executive at XM.)  Its streaming internet audio might also be available at airamericaradio.com.Experts are betting that the new network will fail to make money...

NEW YORK (NNPA) - New York's radio station WLIB-1190 AM has been loyally "serving New York's Black community" - as its logo states - for decades now. In the early '90s WLIB was lauded as a resource for "Afrocentric" programming and became known for featuring Imhotep Gary Byrd's "Global Black Experience" show. The station was in many ways a Black activist outlet. But by the end of this month, WLIB will be taking on a different hue, as it joins the launch of Progress Media's "Air America Radio," the new, predominately White, liberal talk-radio network. Air America has reportedly partnered...

The creators of a fledgling liberal talk radio network who hope to challenge the dominance of conservative voices on the nation's airwaves said yesterday that its programming would make its debut on March 31 on low-rated stations in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The network, known as Air America Radio, said its hosts would include Al Franken, the comedian and political satirist, whose program will be broadcast from noon to 3 p.m.; Janeane Garofalo, an actress whose program will be on from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Chuck D, a hip-hop artist, who will be a co-anchor of a...
