Grier reportedly admitted to agents that he had drunk several beers and multiple shots of alcohol before boarding the plane. He apparently fell asleep on the flight and awoke to flight attendants yelling at him for urinating on his seat. While he was apparently passed out, however, Grier allegedly struck a flight attendant who asked him multiple times to put on his mask, which had apparently fallen off while he was asleep. Grier reportedly told federal agents that he had no recollection of this. Unfortunately for Grier, he is facing federal charges of interfering with a flight crew and attendants....
  • Obamacare: Seven New Taxes on Citizens Earning Less than $250,000

While we were all debating the cost to our liberty due to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), we were ignoring the cost to our pockets. If there ever was a reason for bipartisan rage about this law, it should be on the twenty - yes, twenty - hidden new taxes of this law. Making matters even more relevant is that seven of these taxes are levied on all citizens regardless of income. Hence, Mr. Obama’s promise not to raise taxes on anyone earning less than $250,000 is just another falsehood associated with this legislation.
  • Analysis examines what it's like to be a 'rich' family in America

In the heated battle over extending the expiring Bush-era tax cuts, a single number has emerged from the crossfire: $250,000. It's the annual income that President Obama and others have repeatedly used to define what it means to be "rich" in America today. And even though a tentative deal has been reached on the cuts, $250,000 is etched in the minds of policymakers and pundits as the number that separates the middle class from the wealthy. By most measures, a $250,000 household income is substantial. It is six times the national average household income, and just 2.9 percent of couples...

Did my ears deceive me? Did I hear House Minority Leader John Boehner say on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday, "If the only option I have is to vote for those at 250 and below, of course I'm going to do that"? He was referring to voting for extending the Bush tax cuts to those making less than $250,000 a year. And he was referring to the issue when there is a building momentum to keep the tax cuts for everyone in an era of fragile economic growth and 9.6 percent unemployment. Even some Democrats are willing to keep the...
  • Keeping It Real: Obama's $250,000 Fallacy

Legalized RobberyCollecting more taxes than is absolutely necessary is legalized robbery. ~ Calvin Coolidge By: Larry Walker The question of the day: Why is making $250,000 a year suddenly considered wealthy? The Obama's made $5.5 million last year. Is that wealthy?Contrary to popular belief, $250,000 in 2010 had the same buying power as $20,722 in 1926. Annual inflation over this period was 3.01%. An income of $250,000, adjusted for inflation, would have placed a taxpayer in an 11% tax bracket in 1926. In order to have been considered in the top tax bracket back then, in today's dollars, would have...

Former USDA official Shirley Sherrod, who claims she was falsely smeared as a racist while she herself falsely smears Republicans and Fox News as racists, said this morning that she would like to see BigGovernment.com, the website that made her famous, shut down for the good of the country.CNN's American Morning reported on Sherrod's demand:She said if Breitbart's site were shut down, "That would be a great thing, because I don't see how that advances us in this country ... at a time when we should be trying to look at how we can make space for all of us...

In all of this talk about Obama's plan to raise the tax rate on those making more than $250,000 per year, I have a very simple, and perhaps naive, question. Is he talking about gross or net income? If he is talking about gross income, I can see that this would be a major hit for small businesses, especially those that use independent contractors, and also for professionals. For example, doctors usually run about 50% overhead. So, for a doctor to pay himself a salary of $150,000 he would have to gross $300,000. Can somebody help me out on this?

Front garden yields ancient tools Only one other handaxe of this type has been found that is bigger The Britons of 250,000 years ago were a good deal more sophisticated than they are sometimes given credit for, new archaeological evidence suggests. It comes in the form of giant flint handaxes that have been unearthed at a site at Cuxton in Kent. The tools display exquisite, almost flamboyant, workmanship not associated with this period until now. The axes - one of which measured 307mm (1ft) in length - were dug up from old sand deposits in a front garden. "It is...

Tools 'may be 250,000 years old' Archaeologists found the flint tools in Pan last summer Stone tools found at one of the South's most important early prehistoric sites could date back 250,000 years, archaeologists claim. The historic finds were uncovered at a former gravel quarry on the Isle of Wight during digs last summer. Flint axes found near Great Pan Farm, Newport, are thought to be of the sort used by Neanderthal man. Elephant teeth from the same period were also found. Specialists are now to carry out further investigations of the site. The Great Pan Farm site now looks...
