The election is over. Let the infighting begin. For me it began Wednesday morning just after I awoke. I had spent the prior evening covering Republican senatorial candidate Bob Hugin's loss to Democratic incumbent Bob Menendez and didn't get to sleep until 2 a.m.After fortifying myself with some strong coffee, I checked my phone. There was a voicemail from the most prominent conservative Republican in the state Senate, Mike Doherty of Warren County. Doherty was upset at the comments in my election-night column from the most prominent moderate Republican in the Assembly, minority leader Jon Bramnick.Bramnick had pinned the blame...

In all fairness, Nancy Pelosi deserves to be chosen Speaker of the House by the Democrats. If they give her a hard time, perhaps we will add some Republican votes. She has earned this great honor!

Half of Americans believe that Republicans will maintain control of the House in the midterm elections Tuesday, according to Gallup's nal poll. The result of that question has lined up with the actual election outcome every time Gallup has asked it since 1946. Fifty percent of Americans believe Republicans will stay in power in the House, while 44 percent believe Democrats will take control. In a larger note of condence, Americans also believe that Republicans will retain the majority in the Senate. Sixty-one percent say Republicans will hold power in the Senate following the elections, and 33 percent believe that...

The gathering at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC, on Saturday was a stark contrast to recent rallies where people dressed in black and held signs disparaging President Donald Trump and members of his administration. The #WalkAway rally featured a sea of red, white, and blue-clad participants, waving flags, wearing Make America Great hats, and even pussy hats made infamous during the Women’s March were transformed into bright red, Trump-supporting headgear. The success of a weekend of events to support Trump and Republicans ahead of the midterm elections on November 6 even impressed Brandon Straka, the former Democrat who launched the...

TALLAHASSEE — More than 2 million Florida voters have cast ballots and Republicans maintain a solid advantage over Democrats in turnout. The blue wave remains mostly a mirage. More Republicans are "bringing it home" so far, in the words of Democratic candidate for governor Andrew Gillum. Typically, the GOP has led from the start in mail ballots, and it edged ahead of the Democrats in early voting Thursday for the first time as several more GOP counties began early voting

Texas Democratic Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke said at a CNN town hall Thursday night that he would still vote to impeach President Donald Trump. The El Paso congressman challenging Sen. Ted Cruz said that his position on impeachment hadn't changed, even as Cruz has used the issue to galvanize conservative voters against O'Rourke's campaign. Asked by CNN's Dana Bash if he had changed his mind after saying he'd vote to impeach Trump this summer, O'Rourke said, "I haven't." He pointed to the ongoing probe into whether Trump's 2016 campaign colluded with Russia. "There may be an open question as to...

...“A race-by-race analysis of Democratic House targets shows the party is close to winning the majority, but they do not have it put away, in our judgment, with Election Day less than three weeks away,” said Kyle Kondik, managing editor of Sabato's Crystal Ball in his new post. ...the Democrats in a worst-case scenario could be four seats shy of the needed 23 needed to install Rep. Nancy Pelosi as speaker. Of course there are caveats, such as the impact of the huge influx of money to Democrats and President Trump’s decision to campaign furiously through Election Day, but the...

Full title: Newt Gingrich: Here's a leader with a plan to genuinely control our southern border. He needs our supportWhen House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., introduced the Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act he set the stage for a vital national debate on important questions. Does our safety matter? Does the safety of our children matter? Does the safety of our neighborhoods and communities matter? Every American should be grateful that McCarthy is boldly setting out a plan to genuinely control our southern border and provided the resources and organization needed. He has written a bill that he...

U.S. Democratic Senate hopeful Kyrsten Sinema said “I don’t care” if people go and fight for the Taliban in Afghanistan in a newly resurfaced radio interview and co-hosted a radio show with a conspiracy theorist who claimed the September 11, 2001 terror attacks were perpetrated by the government, Fox News can reveal. Sinema appeared on a radio show in February 2003 hosted by Ernest Hancock, a libertarian activist who presented “The Valley of the Sun” program on a local Arizona radio station. During the interview, Sinema told the host that she didn't object to individuals going abroad and fighting for...

Women who supported the confirmation of Supreme CourtJustice Brett M. Kavanaugh have been reamed on the left as brainwashed, shameful, privilege-defending gender traitors, and it’s starting to annoy them. Anti-Kavanaugh activists saved their most virulent post-confirmation screeds for women who refused to condemn Justice Kavanaugh — especially the white ones — another indication of the resistance’s growing irritation with centrist and conservative women putting due process over feminist solidarity. “I find the idea that ‘as a woman’ I must think a certain way extremely patronizing,” said Allie Stuckey, host of CRTV’s “Relatable.” “If these so-called feminists really believed in female...

The first people to vote in this year’s midterm elections have already returned their ballots to state elections officials in North Carolina, seven weeks before much of the rest of the country gets to weigh in. Those voters — 181 of whom have voted so far, according to the state Board of Elections — are part of an increasing number of Americans who cast their ballots before Election Day. This year, more than 40 percent of all voters are likely to take advantage of mail-in, absentee or early voting options. “There’s been this revolution in the use of mailed-out ballots...

Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill was hit with another politically damaging report Tuesday when her local newspaper revealed businesses tied to her husband have gotten more than $131 million in federal subsidies since she took office. According to an investigation by The Kansas City Star, Joseph Shepard's personal income also has grown since McCaskill took office in 2007. He reportedly made between $1,608 and $16,731 in 2006. But by 2017, Shepard reportedly earned between $365,374 and $1.2 million "from investments in housing projects that received federal subsidies." The information came from the senator's financial disclosure forms, which only provide a range...

Pennsylvania candidates will face off for the first time under the state’s new congressional map in primaries on Tuesday, as Democrats eye several seats they believe can deliver them the House majority in November. Pennsylvania’s state Supreme Court struck down the old map in January, just months ahead of the May primaries, ruling that the districts were gerrymandered by Republicans. The new lines imposed by the court present several opportunities for Democratic pickups, especially around Philadelphia’s suburbs. Tuesday also offers an opportunity for female candidates to make inroads and potentially get one step closer to breaking into Pennsylvania’s all-male congressional...

Insert all the appropriate caveats: It’s only early May, this is one poll, candidate quality matters, we don’t know what big issues or scandals or events will alter the political landscape between now and November, etcetera. But this poll from Morning Consult should have the National Republican Senate Committee doing cartwheels, as this is a terrific time to be a GOP challenger. IMAGE OF POLL RESULTS:

We know that conservatives will never restrict guns or gun ownership. Yet the liberals have no issue that Democarts refuse to do anything. Proof that liberal concern is fake.

Next month’s special election in Pennsylvania’s 18th district, between Republican state Sen. Rick Saccone and Democrat Conor Lamb, will be the first congressional election after last week’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida. The irony here is that Lamb, a former prosecutor, doesn’t actually want much more gun control, and he’s taken some heat from Democrats because of it. At a recent debate, Lamb said he would not support a ban on assault weapons like the AR-15 reportedly used by the Florida shooter. He echoed a statement he made after the Florida shooting, saying that Congress should shore up existing safeguards...

Trump's day of reckoning ... The one thing that could dramatically diminish President Trump’s chances of avoiding impeachment and chalking up legislative wins is Democrats winning the House. And, thanks to series of recent developments, Trump knows this no longer just seems plausible, but probable. Hill sources tell us that a House Democratic takeover is now likely. One strategist close to Republican leaders believes that a loss of the House is "baked in," and said top Republicans don't see a way to avoid it. It would take a flip of 24 seats for Dems to take over. The average loss...

PBS NEWSHOUR: Syndicated columnist Mark Shields and New York Times columnist David Brooks join Judy Woodruff to discuss the week’s news, ..... DAVID BROOKS: I think the Republicans are going to do very bad in the midterm, but not because of the tax bill... So you can vote on a lot of things. In general, when you run up big deficits and give away — back money to people, they like it. And people like me say, hey, you should worry about the deficits or you should worry about the distribution effects. ....... JUDY WOODRUFF: Well, you brought up the...

RUSH: “Rand Paul Calls for Investigation of Obama Officials Colluding Against Trump: ‘Worse than Watergate!’” This happened yesterday. Rand Paul “on Thursday called for an investigation about ‘high ranking Obama government officials’ who might have worked together to stop the election of President Trump. Time to investigate high-ranking Obama government officials who might have colluded to prevent the election of @realDonaldTrump! This could be WORSE than Watergate!’ “Paul’s call adds a high-profile voice to the chorus of Republicans who are calling for a special counsel to investigate whether Obama officials tried to stop Trump’s election…'” I mean… (sigh) You know,...

If Democrats were hoping for an epic rebound in 2018, similar to the stunning tea party wave of 2010, they could end up being very, very disappointed. There are 33 Senate seats up for reelection in 2018 — and just eight are held by Republicans....
