Historical precedent suggests risk assets trough not long after wars start While the duration of the war is unknown, Lee acknowledges, he senses Trump wants a quick end Stock markets bottom at the beginning and not end of wars is the reassuring message that Fundstrat's Tom Lee sent to investors in a note coinciding with the first quarter's final trading session. While the war's duration is unknown, Lee looks at seven major conflicts dating back to 1900 and finds equity markets have a habit of troughing early on because investors "price adverse risks early and quickly." Markets usually bottom early...

Hima-liars. Mount Everest guides have allegedly been secretly lacing tourists’ food to trigger costly helicopter rescues as part of a $20 million insurance scam, according to a new investigation. Police in Nepal have charged 32 individuals with organized crime and fraud charges related to the plot, which involves trekking company owners, helicopter operators, and hospital executives, the Kathmandu Post reported. Guides with the trekking agencies allegedly poisoned tourists by putting baking soda in their food to trigger severe gastrointestinal distress that mimicked altitude sickness or food poisoning, investigators said. Once ill, the visitors were allegedly pressured into agreeing to costly...

Fourth-generation Iowa farmer Mark Mueller is no stranger to the ups and downs of the agriculture industry. But right now, he thinks America is on the cusp of a farm crisis. “I am more concerned now than I have been in my 30 years of farming,” Mueller told NBC News. Even before the Iran war, Mueller said, many farmers felt they were being squeezed. Consolidation in the fertilizer industry and increased competition from abroad have resulted in higher prices for fertilizer and feed — and smaller returns on Mueller’s corn and soybean crops. Many farmers who couldn’t pay their bills...

Jane Sullivan Roberts, the wife of Chief Justice John Roberts, generated $10.3 million in commissions as a legal recruiter over an eight-year period, according to internal records cited by Business Insider. Roberts, who worked at legal recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa, generated the commissions from the years 2007 to 2014, according to the Business Insider story, which was noted by How Appealing. “Roberts’ apparent $10.3 million in compensation puts her toward the top of the pay scale for legal headhunters,” according to the article. Her “attributed revenue” to Major Lindsey was $13.3 million during that time. The commissions were...

Even the Reds are seeing red. Mayor Zohran Mamdani has succeeded in at least one thing during his fresh-faced administration — infuriating everyone, including his typically ride-or-die lefty buds, over his bald-faced lie that the City Council’s budget plan cuts services. Peeved City Council members roundly ripped Mamdani after he used one of his slick social-media videos Wednesday to call out Speaker Julie Menin by name and wrongly portray her budget proposal — an alternative to his doomsday version — as slashing billions of dollars from city agencies. “This is deeply misleading and potentially harmful! I thought these four years...

US President Donald Trump attacked Sir Keir Starmer again on Wednesday doing a brutal impersonation of the Prime Minister. Trump briefly mentioned King Charles' upcoming visit to the US this month before quickly turning back to Keir Starmer, who Trump has previously criticised for his response to the Iran war. Trump adopted a weak sounding voice to imitate Keir Starmer, saying that the UK was unable to send British forces to the region. The US president said he had asked whether the UK could send its "two old, worn-out aircraft carriers" to help secure the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said...

Gucci Mane was allegedly kidnapped and robbed during a “coordinated armed takeover” of a Dallas music studio where fellow rapper Pooh Shiesty allegedly brandished an AK-style pistol and forced the rap mogul to sign a document releasing Shiesty from his recording contract, federal prosecutors said Thursday. In a criminal complaint filed in Dallas federal court and obtained by Rolling Stone, prosecutors allege Sheisty, born Lontrell Williams Jr., “was upset with the terms of his [recording] contract” and set up a meeting with Mane, whose legal name is Radric Davis, to discuss the matter. The complaint identifies Mane by his initials,...

In Germany, a teenager who shot dead a police officer after firing at him multiple times has been acquitted of murder and will avoid prison — after telling a court he was often in a “bad mood” due to a lack of prospects. The Saarbrücken Regional Court ruled that the 19-year-old gunman, Ahmet Gürsel, bore diminished responsibility at the time of the killing of Police Chief Inspector Simon Bohr, 34, and instead convicted him only of aggravated robbery, ordering his placement in a secure psychiatric facility. The shooting took place in August 2025 in Völklingen, Saarland, after the defendant carried...

“Not all enemies are foreign, nor are they all outside our borders,” Hegseth said. “Some are domestic. Confirming your God-given right to self-protection is what I’m signing into action today.” The Defense secretary cited the shootings at Fort Stewart Army Base, Holloman Air Force Base and Naval Air Station Pensacola, saying they indicate “that some threats are closer to home than we would like.” “In these instances, minutes are a lifetime,” Hegseth said. “And our service members have the courage and training to make those precious, short minutes count.” Hegseth said his memo directs installation commanders to permit requests from...

In the annals of shameless media bias, CNN has just delivered another punch. On March 26, 2026, in the Palestinian village of Tayasir in Judea and Samaria, a CNN crew led by correspondent Jeremy Diamond and photojournalist Cyril Theophilos didn’t just stumble into a tense security situation, they went hunting for one. They were there to film the aftermath of an Israeli settler attack and the establishment of a new illegal outpost. Fair enough, if you’re into selective outrage. But when IDF soldiers from a reserve battalion showed up to secure the area and prevent clashes, the crew was ordered...

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum directing military installation commanders to allow War Department personnel — namely, uniformed service members — to request to carry privately owned firearms while in their nonofficial duty capacity on DOW property within the United States."Before today, it was virtually impossible … for War Department personnel to get permission to carry and store their own personal weapons aligned with the state laws where we operate our installations. … Well, that's no longer," Hegseth said during a social media video released today."The memo I'm signing today directs installation commanders to allow requests for personal...

Today, there are nearly 70,000 women serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. More than 10,000 are fighting directly on the frontlines. They are not there because of a quota. They are there because they wanted to serve, and serve they are… The drone revolution: where women excel The character of the fight has altered. No longer is strength the limiting factor. Now it’s precision, focus, and problem-solving. Women fly the latest FPV drones, command unmanned systems units, and conduct intelligence missions in Ukraine. The Khartiia Corps claims a 20 percent increase in female recruits for combat technology positions. Why? Because...
