Wife of Chief Justice Roberts generated $10M in commissions in this job, whistleblower says

Jane Sullivan Roberts, the wife of Chief Justice John Roberts, generated $10.3 million in commissions as a legal recruiter over an eight-year period, according to internal records cited by Business Insider.

Roberts, who worked at legal recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa, generated the commissions from the years 2007 to 2014, according to the Business Insider story, which was noted by How Appealing.

“Roberts’ apparent $10.3 million in compensation puts her toward the top of the pay scale for legal headhunters,” according to the article.

Her “attributed revenue” to Major Lindsey was $13.3 million during that time. The commissions were her share of the revenue.

The internal records were contained in a whistleblower complaint filed by Kendal B. Price, a disgruntled employee at Major Lindsey. Price said in an affidavit he thinks that at least some of Roberts’ “remarkable success” was the result of her spouse’s position.

This is an old story, from 2023, but I had never heard this material before. Maybe this gives indight into John Roberts actions as Chief Justice. A court spokeswoman told the New York Times that the chief justice had consulted the conduct code for federal judges, as well as a 2009 advisory opinion that said judges “need not recuse merely because” a spouse worked as a recruiter for a firm.

Maybe that’s why Roberts won’t reign in the rogue Federal judges.

🧵THREAD: Is Trump’s hunch about foreign influence in SCOTUS correct?
After the Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling on tariffs, Trump said “It’s my opinion that the court has been swayed by foreign interests and a political movement that is far smaller than people would ever think.”

“Trump is likely referring to the ideology of supranationalism — a centuries-old ideology that considered tariffs to be among the highest economical blunders, not for economic reasons, but because tariffs dare to assert national rights in a telos of universal liberalism. But is he right about the foreign influence? “

“As has been widely reported, @MikeBenzCyber has unpacked the details of the friendship between John Roberts and Norm Eisen, and their Prague vacations where they discussed “American and European rule-of law issues” together”

I became aware of this information on a twitter thread by DataRepublican (small r)

Why is she still working? Good question. Dunno. Maybe she just likes working.

Supreme court justices need TERM LIMITS.
Why should we be stuck with them until they quit or croak?

Term limits are not a magic bullet. They would cause just as many problems as they solve.

But like democrats, you can say you did something, just not solved the problem.

The upside of lifetime appointments is that careful examination is applied. It has worked well more often than not. Follow the plan of our founders, don’t change things and make it worse.

“They would cause just as many problems as they solve.”
I don’t agree with that, especially when US citizens have no part in choosing them and the democrat party wants to expand the number of judges by 4.
Congress should have term limits too.

Rich people don’t get rich by being indifferent to getting as much money as they can get, it is like looking at a 500 pound person and thinking they have eaten enough, they are probably pretty casual about food now.

Yeah I’ve known a few wealthy people. Hard working driven people. They all kept working even after they had acquired plenty because that is what successful people do.

I don’t agree with that...

Clarence Thomas would have been term-limited out long ago.
