So I was searching out a school a relative attended in Tuscany in the 30s. The nuns wore a distinctive wimple. As I searched on the wimple, I discovered that according to the first website brought up, that of course wimples were brought back by the Crusaders to the benighted women of the Western culture. Muslims taught western women to use wimples. Because of course Western women were too darned stupid to cover their heads themselves, although they had been doing it for millennia. I have noticed recently that many historical reads say that Islam and Muslims have taught the...

Florida Highway Patrol launched into high alert this week after a barrage of 911 calls from motorists who swore they’d just spotted a truck hauling a full payload of missiles down the highway. “They were definitely concerned,” FHP Sgt. Steve Gaskins told The Post of the March 22 incident. The situation escalated quickly when a trooper, already locked and loaded with a description of a blue pickup traveling along Interstate 4, spotted the vehicle. Nipper, a longtime rocket enthusiast, explained to cops he’s part of local groups that regularly gather to have fun, put on exhibitions or teach kids about...

The guitarist and bassist has played on thousands of records, including hits by The Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, and Brenda Holloway. When guitarist/bassist Carol Kaye took her first gig as a session player in 1957 for a Sam Cooke session, she simply saw herself as a working mother who needed to provide for her children. “I knew it looked like money, and I had two kids to pay for,” she once told Far Out. Kaye was born to working-class, professional musician parents and grew up in a housing project during World War II. At the age of nine, her parents...

“A string of deaths and disappearances involving individuals linked to United States defence and aerospace research has ignited intense speculation online, with some claiming a hidden connection to classified programmes. In less than a year, six scientists and researchers tied to high-level projects have either died or gone missing, raising questions but also prompting experts to urge caution over unverified claims. The cases span from mid-2025 to early 2026 and involve individuals connected to agencies such as US Air Force Research Laboratory, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. One of the earliest cases is Monica Jacinto Reza,...

Double-check all sources, experts say es are warning the public about a multi-state scam targeting the immigrant community, with some victims losing as much as $30,000. According to Claudia Abasto Rivilla, founder and executive director of Salinas-based Latin Advocacy Network (LATINAN), scammers target Spanish- and Indigenous-language speakers using information gleaned from social media. They then use stolen identities and fake legal credentials to appear legitimate, she said. With an already tenuous legal status, victims are often too afraid to seek help or report the crime. Abasto said victims typically seek help only after being defrauded. She also said she...

According to a copy of the permit for the "flagship" march in St. Paul, Minn., Indivisible, a national well-heeled Democratic political advocacy organization funded by billionaire George Soros, is the lead coordinator for the protest. Vice President JD Vance won this year’s straw poll of attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference, with 53 percent of respondents saying he was their preferred choice in the 2028 Republican presidential primary. The figure, announced by organizers on Saturday, was a slight drop from his 61 percent support in last year’s poll, and it came as Secretary of State Marco Rubio continued to emerge as a contender in early 2028 conversations. Mr. Rubio earned 35 percent of the vote at CPAC this year, a leap from his 3 percent in 2025. The poll, which came as CPAC wrapped...

Egyptian archaeologists recently unearthed the remnants of a Christian monastic site from the 5th century — some 400 years after the time of Jesus Christ. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities wrote in a translated statement on March 23 that a building was recently found in the Qallaya area in Egypt’s Beheira Governorate. The structure, likely a guesthouse used to host visitors, is a remnant of the “early beginnings of Coptic monasticism,” the release said. Previous buildings have also been found at the site, and the newly discovered structure had 13 multipurpose rooms used for “hospitality and teaching …...

Qatar and Ukraine have signed a defence agreement seeking joint expertise on countering threats from missiles and drones, according to Qatar’s Ministry of Defence, as Iran continues attacking its Gulf neighbours. The agreement was made on Saturday during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Doha, following his stop in the UAE earlier in the day. Earlier on Saturday, Zelenskyy said Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates had also agreed to cooperate on defence, a day after signing a deal with Saudi Arabia during his visit to the kingdom on Thursday.

Vice President JD Vance says the war with Iran will continue “for a little while longer” until the US and Israel can “neuter” the Islamic Republic. “The president’s going to keep at it for a little while longer to ensure that once we leave, we don’t have to do this again for a very, very long time,” Vance told podcaster Benny Johnson. “This country is threatening us in all these ways. They’re still trying to build a nuclear weapon. We need to neuter them for a very, very long time, and that’s the purpose. Vance said the goal of the...

A 42-page Department of Defense Inspector General’s (DOD IG) report published Feb. 17 evaluated the federal government’s management of canine warfare, finding that widespread neglect of military working dogs (MWDs) on U.S. bases has resulted in disease outbreaks, exposure to toxic mold, and multiple deaths linked to inadequate housing. Some findings reported by the DOD IG include the following:Open-air facilities lacking shelter from cold, heat and rain.Very high rates of disease, including up to 47% of dogs sick at one location, “likely because of the poor kennel conditions.”No protection from hazardous exposure to black mold and other “toxic debris.”Four pneumonia dog...

A Canadian woman who went to the emergency room with back pain said she was left shocked when a doctor immediately floated the suggestion of euthanasia. Miriam Lancaster, 84, was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital last April with a fractured sacrum, a break at the base of the spine relatively frequent in elderly people. Lancaster said she was stunned by the doctors' immediate suggestion upon examination. ‘I was approached by a young lady doctor whose very first words out of her mouth is we would like to offer you [euthanasia],’ Lancaster said in a video posted on X. The retired...

A Florida fisherman changed his luck recently in a big way. Captain Jose Rodriguez Jr. of Cudjoe Key, Florida, takes clients out four to five times a week on a Florida Keys fishing charter to reel in trophy fish. But he’d never come close to catching a monster 500-pound swordfish. On Feb. 18, Rodriguez, along with a Pennsylvania family, landed a giant 480-pound swordfish, one of the largest of its kind caught in the Keys in recent years. “It was definitely a fight and a struggle,” Rodriguez, who helps run the family business, Above & Below Fishing Adventures, told Fox...

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew is urging Prime Minister Mark Carney to take stronger action to help end the ongoing war involving Iran, warning of its growing human and economic toll. In a letter sent to Carney, Kinew criticized the conflict as unnecessary and harmful, stressing that ordinary people are paying the price. He said the war is causing significant suffering abroad while also driving up costs and economic pressure for Canadians at home. Kinew called on the federal government to push for de-escalation and diplomatic efforts to bring the fighting to an end. He emphasized that Canada should not support...
