"Forgive us our debts" (Matt. 6:12). Forgiveness removes the guilt and penalty of sin and restores intimacy with God. Man's greatest problem is sin. It renders him spiritually dead, alienates him from God and his fellow man, plagues him with guilt and fear, and can eventually damn him to eternal hell. The only solution is forgiveness—and the only source of forgiveness is Jesus Christ. All sin is punishable by death (Rom. 6:23) but Christ bore the sins of the world, thereby making it possible to be forgiven and have eternal life through faith in Him (John 3:16). What a glorious...

Critics say she’s not the brightest bulb! A state lawmaker has a dim-witted plan that would force the Empire State Building and nearly all of New York City to go dark after 11 p.m. — but detractors say the plan would let criminals run wild under the cloak of night. The “Dark Skies Protection Act,” sponsored by Manhattan Assemblywoman Deborah Glick, would require Big Apple businesses and residents to hit the off switch between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. to save energy, help migratory birds and avoid “light pollution,” according to the proposed bill. The goal is to “preserve and...

Daily Readings from the USCCBThe Jews picked up rocks to stone Jesus. Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of these are you trying to stone me?” The Jews answered him, “We are not stoning you for a good work but for blasphemy. You, a man, are making yourself God.” John 10:31–33The reason these Jews were so angry that they “picked up rocks to stone Jesus” was because He had just declared, “The Father and I are one” (John 10:30), a statement they understood as blasphemy. Through His words and works, Jesus...

The Royal Navy was facing growing criticism over its effectiveness as Defence Secretary John Healey struggled to say how many warships it has. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX) introduced legislation on Thursday requiring professional sports team owners to give local governments and investors a chance to buy their teams before relocating. It would require owners to provide at least a year’s notice before relocating. During the one-year notice period, local communities would have the opportunity to purchase the team at a fair market price. Sanders...

And I don’t want that for your dreams.” Swift arrived at the ceremony this evening with nine nominations, and by the time...
