As the calendar comes to an end, and with it, we approach the end of the first year of the second Trump administration, polling companies and media sites are naturally looking for news stories about how the electorate “feels” about the economy. It’s a permanent question, of course, as it should be, on sites like RealClearPolitics and other polling-tracker focused sites, but there has been an uptick lately, and the question “How do you rate President Trump’s handling of the economy?” is now more frequently in the headlines than usual. The problem is, it’s an amazingly subjective question, because there...

Russia on Wednesday shot down President Trump’s claim that the Kremlin had already agreed to some concessions on ending the war in Ukraine — as Moscow blasted innocent Ukrainians with fresh drone strikes overnight. Multiple Russian officials insisted it was too premature to speak about accepting any peace plan and that Moscow wouldn’t agree to anything that didn’t fully meet its demands. “There can be no talk of any concessions or surrender of our approaches to the key aspects of resolving the problems facing us, including in the context of the special operation [in Ukraine],” said Sergei Ryabkov, a Russian...

The New Yorker magazine is catching flak for publishing what critics called a sympathetic profile of a convicted murderer who was deported by the Trump administration. Orville Etoria, 62, originally from Jamaica, was detained in New York City during a routine ICE check-in in June and sent to Eswatini in southern Africa - a country he has no ties to. Etoria was profiled by the magazine along with several others subjected to what the story slammed as 'secretive third-country removals.' Etoria was convicted of second-degree murder after shooting a man in a Brooklyn leather-goods store in 1996. He was sentenced...

A recent study conducted at UC Berkeley found that methane leaks from oil production and distribution are negligible, outweighed by orders of magnitude from natural leakage along the state’s ubiquitous earthquake faults.

@mtgreenee Oh I haven’t suffered enough for you while you post all day behind a screen? Do I have to stay until I’m assassinated like our friend Charlie Kirk. Will that be good enough for you then? Sh*t posting on the internet all day isn’t fighting. Get off YOUR ass and run for Congress. I fought harder than anyone in the real arena, not social media. Put down your little pebbles and put your money where your mouth is. @Cernovich Replying to @mtgreenee You need to serve out your full term.

The Fulton County, Georgia, election interference case against President Donald Trump and others has been dismissed after the prosecutor who took over the case requested that it be dropped. "In my professional judgment, the citizens of Georgia are not served by pursuing this case in full for another five to ten years," wrote Pete Skandalakis, the executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia, who took over the case after the original prosecutor was disqualified from the case. Within minutes of Skandalakis' court filing, the judge overseeing the case granted the request and dismissed the case.

The Department of Homeland Security paid a company — filled with Secretary Kristi Noem’s friends and allies — to create at least one of several political ads in a potential violation of ethics laws, according to an investigation by ProPublica. President Donald Trump asked DHS to create the ads to “thank me for closing the border.” They feature Noem doing exactly that while criticizing the “weak leadership” of prior Democratic administrations. The money could have instead been spent on actual border security. ProPublica reports the ad spending totals $220 million. DHS’ also ignored competitive bidding laws by claiming the border...

This is mind-blowing. Bernie Sanders in 2015: Open borders is a right-wing proposal. Immigration can make Americans poorer. Of course by 2019 Bernie Sanders was saying the complete opposite because Bernie is a grifter.

Two Charlotte County men face felony charges after allegedly trespassing onto a DeSoto County farm and shooting a cow in the head while they were on their way to school. The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Matthew Robert Wright and Gavin Hunter McMillan on charges of armed trespass and aggravated animal cruelty, the press release stated. Thomas Butler discovered the men on his family’s cattle farm northwest of Arcadia on Friday. One man stood in the pasture holding the dead heifer’s head, telling Butler “someone shot this cow,” according to Fox 4, which cited an arrest report. When Butler asked...

“Gus” the turkey has been spending Thanksgiving week much differently than millions of other unlucky gobblers across the U.S. As he trots in a sprawling animal sanctuary on the Colorado plains, he is stopped every few steps by staff who pet him, hug him or even give him a peck on his red face. Gus has been there since 2023 after being pardoned by the governor. “What do you think? Do you want to do snuggles today?” Lanette Cook, education and engagement manager at the Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary in Erie, says to Gus. Gus is among a growing number...

A startling new study says Artificial Intelligence may be close to replacing many jobs for humans, and many jobs occupied by lawyers as well. "AI is a wonderful tool that can help people in many amazing ways," explained lead researcher Stan Marsden. "But we worry it will soon replace a significant number of jobs that humans hold in the workplace. It might also take jobs from lawyers and other non-human entities as well." The study showed a startling trend as AI replaces human-held jobs at a faster and faster rate. Job experts worry that many humans and lawyers might be...

Inside a West Philadelphia hair salon Tuesday, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro signed a law solidifying protections against hair discrimination in the state. The CROWN Act, which stands for "Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair," prohibits discrimination based on a person's hairstyle, type or texture. Pennsylvania is the 28th state to pass a version of the CROWN Act. "This is a place where the community gets nurtured, and folks get to walk in and walk out looking and feeling their absolute best," Shapiro said. "I think that's noble work." "Wearing our crown is very important to me," said...

Daily Readings from the USCCBWednesday of the Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time“Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.” Luke 21:14–15This line is embedded in today’s Gospel in which Jesus makes it clear that His followers will be persecuted. Many of them will be seized, sent to prison, hated and even be put to death. For some, this will even happen at the hands of their own family. But Jesus tells them this to prepare them and to...

A physicist has proposed a radical new theory of consciousness – and it could finally explain what happens when you die. Consciousness does not emerge from human brains, according to Professor Maria Strømme, a professor of nanotechnology at Uppsala University. Instead, she claims that it exists as a fundamental field - a 'building block' of the universe. If this is correct, 'mysterious' phenomena such as telepathy, near–death experiences, and even life after death could finally be explained by science. According to Professor Strømme's theory, consciousness does not end when we die. Instead, when a person passes away, their consciousness simply...

One wonders: Have the Democrats thought this through? Do they have an endgame? Either way, their reckless rhetoric can only lead to a dark place — as it has already. Monday on CNN’s “The Arena with Kasie Hunt,” Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego of Arizona appeared to threaten “consequences” for military service members who take part in a potential court-martial of his colleague, Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona. In a clip posted to the social media platform X, host Kasie Hunt asked Gallego about his “level of trust in the U.S. military justice system,” to which the senator, with shocking...

The Hayli Gubbi volcano in Ethiopia, located about 500 miles from the capital city of Addis Ababa, erupted on Sunday for the first time in about 12,000 years. The eruption was not too devastating as such events go, but it did release an enormous plume of ash, which rode the subtropical jet stream and quickly expanded to cover parts of Yemen, Oman, India, and Pakistan. Air India announced it canceled at least 11 flights on Tuesday due to concerns over the cloud. “The affected altitude is between 8.5 kilometers (5.2 miles) and 15 kilometers above the sea level,” said Mrutyunjay...
