Queen bee standing on a supersedure cell (peanut-shaped structure, center). Within the supersedure cell is a new queen bee that the workers have reared as a replacement. Credit: Shelley Hoover ============================================================================ New research reveals how viral infections in queen bees disturb colony stability and pinpoints a specific pheromone that may help preserve unity and productivity within hives. It may sound like the plot of a medieval drama: a once-powerful ruler, weakened by illness, is overthrown by her own followers. In honey bee colonies, however, such dramatic power shifts are real—and they happen frequently, carrying both benefits and risks for the...

In the grip of constant terror, Africans have become a people of suffering, living on high alert as armed gangs spill blood from the sands of Sudan to the churches of the Congo. In Nigeria, which has gotten the lion’s share of the attention thanks to pop star Nicki Minaj’s personal crusade, men with machetes and rifles gunned down more Christians on Wednesday, turning a house of worship into a place of terror. Children’s screams rip through the air in the footage of the massacre, as the pastor and other people are rushed away to an unknown fate in a...

New York is a lost cause. A jury in Suffolk County last week redistributed $112 million in state taxpayer wealth to a band of illegal aliens because they were mildly inconvenienced by local cops. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office didn’t do anything unusual. Deputies routinely pick up hooligans for various offenses against public order. If U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials notice an illegal alien’s name on the arrestee list, they will dispatch a “detainer” request to the locals. When that happens, Suffolk will hold the perps for no more than 48 hours before transferring them into the custody of...

As we joked earlier this week about the overnight Bitcoin dump – the “Korean Krypto Kamikazes“ – the selling has continued with no clear catalyst. The largest crypto asset briefly plunged to $81,569 and is now on track for its worst month since 2022. BTC dropped as much as 6% early Friday to $81,569, while Ether and smaller tokens plunged into the abyss as risk-off sentiment hit both crypto and equity futures (market wrap). Bitcoin is now down roughly 25% for the month. Nearly $1 billion in positions were liquidated during the overnight flush, stoking fears that the bear market...

At approximately 1:05 a.m. on Friday, police officers at the airport were conducting "routine security checks" in Terminal 1 when they "encountered an adult male with a knife," officials said. The U.S. Border Patrol is monitoring millions of American drivers nationwide in a secretive program to identify and detain people whose travel patterns it deems suspicious, The Associated Press has found. The Border Patrol's predictive intelligence program has resulted in people being stopped, searched and in some cases arrested. A network of cameras scans and records vehicle license plate information, and an algorithm flags vehicles deemed suspicious based on where they came from, where they were going and which route they took. Federal agents in turn may then flag local law enforcement. Suddenly, drivers find themselves pulled over - often...

(The Epoch Times)—WASHINGTON—Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) said on Nov. 20 that he will file a resolution to expel Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-Fla.) from Congress. The Department of Justice indicted Cherfilus-McCormick, 46, on Nov. 19 for allegedly stealing $5 million in FEMA funds. She and her brother, Edwin Cherfilus, 51, undertook a COVID-19 vaccination contract through their company in July 2021 when it received an overpayment of $5 million, according to the Justice Department. The two allegedly took the $5 million and put it in multiple accounts to cover up the source of the funds, according to the Justice Department. A...

BELEM, Brazil (AP) — Several nations and environmental groups on Friday slammed proposals in the final stages of this year’s U.N. climate talks for failing to explicitly mention the cause of global warming — the burning of fuels such as oil, gas and coal — with one top negotiator warning the talks are on “the verge of collapse.” Juan Carlos Monterrey Gomez, a top negotiator for Panama, said the decades-long United Nations process risks “becoming a clown show” for the omission.

When Obama administration officials manufactured U.S. intelligence tying Donald Trump to Moscow following his stunning 2016 victory, they had no idea Trump’s own political appointees would help them undermine Trump’s presidency – and his chances of reelection in 2020. RCI’s review of recently declassified documents and exclusive interviews with former Trump officials reveals for the first time how key members of Trump’s cabinet and other appointees during his first term shrouded the previous administration’s machinations and either deliberately or inadvertently misled the public into thinking the fake Russiagate intelligence was real.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Grammy-winning rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel of the Fugees was sentenced on Thursday to 14 years in prison for a case in which he was convicted of illegally funneling millions of dollars in foreign contributions to former President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. Michel, 52, declined to address the court before U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly sentenced him. In April 2023, a federal jury convicted Michel of 10 counts, including conspiracy and acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government. The trial in Washington, D.C., included testimony from actor Leonardo DiCaprio and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions....

A cadre of democrats have produced a video in which they encourage members of the military to defy orders. But not directly. In a redux of the "51 former intelligence experts" letter, these democrats - Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) - Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) - Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) - Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-N.H.) - Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.) - Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.) have created something that, just like the laptop letter, doesn't come right out and say it, but very strongly implies it. BREAKING: Elected Democrats just released a video encouraging members of the military to commit treason...

New court filings show that former FBI Director James Comey’s indictment on charges of obstructing justice and making false statements to Congress was properly voted on by members of the grand jury. Lindsey Halligan, the interim U.S. Attorney had admitted to the trial judge on Wednesday that the full grand jury never saw the final version of the charges against Comey. Comey’s defense team had seized upon that admission as a possible misstep which could doom the prosecution’s case, but filings from Halligan’s office later that same day appear to show that correct procedures were followed and that the charges...

Michael English, a Democratic candidate running for mayor of Providence, is addressing renewed attention on a criminal record that includes child molestation convictions from the late 1990s. English has referred to the actions that led to his convictions as “immature decisions” that resulted in a “period of incarceration.” According to the Providence Journal, English was 26 when he engaged in a relationship with a 13-year-old. The outlet reported that after serving a little over a year in prison, English attempted to contact the victim again in 2009. The Providence Journal reviewed court documents related to the case, as English’s file...

The Trump administration is insisting that Ukraine’s government agree to a much-criticized plan to end Russia’s invasion by the Thanksgiving holiday — or it will cut off intelligence sharing and shipments of weapons to the beleaguered European nation, according to a new report. The 28-point plan, details of which were reported by The Post on Thursday, was presented to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll. Reuters reported Friday that Kyiv has come under greater pressure from Washington to sign on to the deal than at any point in the 33-month-old conflict. The framework calls for US recognition...
