I heard this morning from Chris Robinson that his dad had passed away on October 27, 2025. They live in Fresno, California. His beloved wife, Sheila, passed away on 11-18-2020. He is survived by his loving sons, Chris and John. He was the founder of this important internet platform for Conservatives, and was a true patriot. THIS was the last post that he wrote, thanking someone for their donation on 10-24-2025. For us who were privileged to have had the chance to meet him, he was a kind a gracious man who worked hard making FReeREpublic a safe place for...

As with many things Trump, the administration’s “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education” provoked accusations of authoritarian takeover of vital American institutions. And, as with many things Trump, the administration’s compact overreached in pursuit of a worthy goal, giving critics ammunition to oppose urgently needed reform. On Oct. 1, the Trump administration sent the compact to nine universities – the University of Arizona, Brown University, Dartmouth College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Southern California, the University of Texas Austin, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Virginia. (Subsequently the administration opened the deal to...

Finances are becoming dire for the more than 750,000 government workers who have been going without pay for a full month. The government has been closed for a full month — and federal workers who have missed two paychecks are now using credit cards to pay their bills, visiting food pantries to stock their kitchens and reviewing their bank accounts, plotting exactly how long they can manage without a salary. The answer is not much longer for Cynthia Brown, a Government Publishing Office staffer who has been working without pay. The 53-year-old said she is barely eating, subsisting on coffee and...

After an antisemitism watchdog posted a new video warning about socialist efforts to take over the Democratic Party from within, socialist leaders from across the country embraced the video and its message, appearing unafraid of such accusations. The Canary Mission's advertisement included recorded remarks from various leaders of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) describing their opposition to, and in some cases "hatred" of the Democratic Party, which one speaker says must be torn down. The video also shared remarks from DSA leaders describing how the Democratic Party, which one of the socialist speakers in the video referred to as...

It seems like every time I look at the news these last couple of weeks, there is another piece predicting doom and gloom for the Democratic Party. The latest came from Harry Enten at CNN, who said the data shows the shutdown standoff in Washington is backfiring for the left.“You might think,” he said, “given that the Republicans are in charge of both the House and the Senate, that a government shutdown might actually hurt the Republican brand. But in fact, it hasn’t. If anything, it’s been helped a little bit.”Enten went on to evaluate the Democrats’ chances in the...

A London mosque that barred women and girls over the age of 12 from participating in a charity fun run may have breached the Equality Act, a barrister has claimed. East London Mosque introduced the controversial restrictions for its event held in Victoria Park on Sunday. Despite being advertised on its website as a “family-friendly” and “inclusive” event open to men and boys of all ages, women and girls over 12 were not allowed to take part. However, the website noted that “everyone is welcome at the park to cheer on the runners.”

There was a time when conservative kids weren’t cool. A time when they were fogey-ish, bow-tied, out of step and out of touch. With their own generation at least. But that has changed. And nothing demonstrates that change more than something that happened at the University of Mississippi on Wednesday. From early morning the queues started to form. They grew throughout the day, in spite of the rain, as thousands of people waited to get into the Turning Point USA event.According to Turning Point Spokeman Andrew Kolvet more than half of the entire student body of the University packed into the...

Chuck Grassley reveals Biden Justice Department investigation details as new FBI leadership takes actionStaggering revelations came out this week concerning Operation Arctic Frost, the Biden Justice Department’s weaponization campaign against Republicans predicated on the non-crime of objecting to a presidential election.Democrats lodged similar objections in 1969, 2001, 2005 and, most infamously, in 2017 when they cited the discredited Steele Dossier to attempt to overturn President Trump’s victory. Yet, none faced charges. Objecting to elections is protected by the First Amendment and the Electoral Count Act of 1887. It was eminently reasonable for members of Congress — the arbiters of whether...

As a young reporter at The New York Times, I had the good fortune of working with an experienced political editor named Sheldon Binn. A wounded veteran of World War II, he explained the simple yardstick he used to judge politicians. “The only thing I ask is that they don’t make things worse,” I recall him saying. “That’s the best you can hope for.” As a wide-eyed idealist, I found his standard shockingly low and cynical. But these days, Binn’s rule makes more sense to me than ever. Exhibit A is the New York mayoral race, where the Democrats’ nominee,...

New York flirts with a familiar disaster as Zohran Mamdani rides Rousseauvian rhetoric toward the same ruinous script that doomed revolutions past.As the world waits for New York’s first Islamo-Communist mayor—hailed alike by the overtly malicious and the terminally stupefied—it may be worth stepping back to ask what the advent of Zohran Mamdani, the pampered 34-year-old rich kid who was born in Uganda, tells us about the decay of liberalism. In many ways, Mamdani—who, as I write this, is a comfortable 10-15 points ahead in the polls—is just the latest avatar of the AOC-Ilhan Omar wing of the Democratic party....

Democrats do not just need to win more people. They also need to win more places.Inside the Democratic Party — in its backrooms and its group chats, its conferences and its online flame wars — an increasingly bitter debate has taken hold over what the party needs to become to beat back Trumpism. Does it need to be more populist? More moderate? More socialist? Embrace the abundance agenda? Produce more vertical video? The answer is yes, yes to all of it — but to none of it in particular. The Democratic Party does not need to choose to be one thing....

Despite making up less than 1% of the U.S. population, transgender people are frequent targets of disinformation and scapegoating. This has been especially true for transgender athletes. This year, three volleyball players at Santa Rosa Junior College filed a U.S. Department of Education complaint alleging Title IX violations by the school and the California Community College Athletic Association for allowing a transgender player on the school’s team. The players claimed, among other things, that the trans player posed a physical danger to them.

...Tacitus, a Hellenistic writer on the art of war, invented the hydraulic telegraph. It used a set of predetermined messages attached to a vertical rod floating in a container of water. A twin of the system sat with at the second location, and its controller could mimic the messages sent by the first via a signal sent by torchlight. The system was adopted in situations that required urgent communication, such as war, but it had its drawbacks... the optical telegraph, also known as a semaphore telegraph, already used long-distance, line-of-sight signaling for rapid communication, typically with torches. With a predetermined set of...

A 13-year-old girl from East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, who went missing in October, has been recovered after being found hidden in a box covered by a sheet in the basement of a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, home. The teen was last seen at the Greyhound bus station in Baton Rouge after traveling from Columbus, Georgia. Authorities traced her through online activity, discovering she had been in contact with 26-year-old Ki-Shawn Crumity via Snapchat. Crumity allegedly lured her by promising to help her get adopted by a trusted adult. The girl was transported from Baton Rouge to Georgia by 62-year-old Ronald Smith...

Barack Obama formally endorsed Abigail Spanberger last month in a video. It wasn’t exactly a shock, but the media sure made a big deal about it. Her campaign had certainly taken a hit because of the Jay Jones scandal, so the timing made perfect sense in that context. But, when Obama rolled into Virginia Saturday to campaign for Abigail Spanberger, you had to wonder what exactly he was doing there. Spanberger, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, holds a comfortable lead over Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears in multiple polls, leading by 7.6 points in the RealClearPolitics average. o why would Obama...

The New York branch of the far-left Democratic Socialists of America says UK lawmaker Jeremy Corbyn is working the phones for New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Corbyn and Mamdani are both known for their far-left anti-Israel activism. Corbyn, the former head of the British Labour party, dragged the party through a series of antisemitism scandals, including facing accusations of being antisemitic himself, before a decisive electoral defeat in 2019 and his ouster in 2020. Mamdani is a longtime Democratic Socialists of America member, who is running for mayor as the Democratic party nominee. New York City’s Democratic Socialists...

Mike Benz has laid out a roadmap for Attorney General Pam Bondi to hold corrupt Obama-appointed Judge James Boasberg accountable. This comes amid the exploding Arctic Frost Scandal, where the Biden DOJ’s rogue Special Counsel Jack Smith orchestrated a massive spying operation on at least ten GOP senators and other conservatives. Senators Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz both confirmed this week that their official and campaign phone records were secretly subpoenaed by Special Counsel Jack Smith, with Judge Boasberg personally signing a gag order to conceal the unconstitutional seizure from them for over a year. Senator Graham revealed on X...

Ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee Rep. Jim Himes (Conn) took issue with the Trump Administration policy of having the US Navy blow up drug smugglers boats, saying "Sen Graham (SC) and other Republicans say it's okay to kill suspected drug smugglers, just so long as the American public supports it. What will they say when President Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez orders a strike on a MAGA demonstration or suppresses the speech of individuals who disagree with her policies? Do they really want to establish a precedent that the president can do whatever he or she wants?" "What precedent is he...

An online influencer has sparked a firestorm debate after calling for the government to feed “prison loaf” to poor people instead of giving them SNAP benefits to buy food. Diane Yap is going viral for suggesting that free nutraloaf — an unappetizing but nutritionally balanced mix of protein, carbs, fruits and vegetables mashed together — is the best solution to keep poor Americans from going hungry. “The point of EBT is to ensure people don’t starve to death. That’s it. Even if we agree that’s a worthwhile goal, it can be achieved with Nutraloaf,” wrote Diane Yap, founder of the...
