Former Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., was freed from prison last week thanks to his federal fraud sentence being commuted by President Donald Trump -- but he may not be free from criminal prosecution on the local level. The district attorney’s office in Nassau County, which is home to part of the district Santos represented, declined to say what, if anything, prosecutors might be investigating that could warrant state charges. "Since first learning of George Santos' actions, I have been at the forefront of bringing him to justice," Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said in a statement. "I am proud...

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — On Monday, Fairfax County Public Schools placed a teacher, who reported information about school staff allegedly arranging abortions for students, on paid administrative leave. The Centreville High School teacher’s leave is effective immediately, pending the conclusion of FCPS’s ongoing investigation focusing on concerns that she “may have engaged in serious professional misconduct.” On Tuesday, Zenaida Perez told 7News that she believes FCPS is retaliating against her for going public with the abortion story, which has received national media attention. “They are now suspending me with pay indefinitely," Perez told 7News on Tuesday. "Who knows until...

A new study shockingly reports that 94% of children born to American celebrities identify as transgender or non-binary.The idiom “keeping up with the Joneses” evolved from a 1913 newspaper comic strip of the same name that ran until 1938. The subject matter of the strip was the McGinis family who struggled to keep up with their neighbors—the Joneses. Ever since then, the phrase has been used to reference those people who strive to accumulate wealth or other goods that others have. Perhaps no one locale reflects this mindset among its residents more so than Hollywood. It is Hollywood that has become...

In a sense, it’s old news. In December 2021, CNN reported that the House’s select January 6 Committee had subpoenaed phone records of more than 100 people. But that was mostly Trump officials, including White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. No surprise there. After all, the January 6 Committee was empaneled for the specific purpose of turning President Trump into a criminal for supposedly aiding and abetting the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the Capitol. But when this story resurfaced earlier this month, there was something new, too. For one thing, the scope of the investigation was almost unbelievable – it...

Many GOP senators raised concerns directly with President Donald Trump on Tuesday about his idea to buy more beef from Argentina, according to four Republicans who attended a lunch hosted at the White House. The Rose Garden lunch was initially scheduled to celebrate GOP unity on the shutdown and clearing Trump’s nominees, but farm-state Republicans have been on edge after the president announced Sunday that he was considering a deal with one of American ranchers’ biggest competitors in order to lower food prices. Trump told lawmakers that he was worried about consumer beef prices in the U.S. but also worried...

As country music grew in popularity in America throughout the 1940s and 1950s, the roots of the genre also took hold in an unlikely place: Japan.A detail from the 1971 album of The Bluegrass 45, a legendary bluegrass band from Kobe, Japan. Rebel RecordsDuring World War II, the Armed Forces Radio Service provided entertainment for American troops stationed in Japan. But in the days after the war ended in 1945, the United States established a more permanent, far-reaching band of stations for its servicemembers remaining on bases in the rebuilding country. Until it was disbanded in 1997, this was known...

The rabbi of a prominent Manhattan synagogue slammed Zohran Mamdani as a “danger to the security of the New York Jewish community” — as he urged congregants to back Andrew Cuomo for mayor instead. “I believe Zohran Mamdani poses a danger to the security of the New York Jewish community,” Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, of the renowned Park Avenue Synagogue on the Upper East Side, said during his Saturday sermon. He said Mamdani refuses to denounce the phrase “Globalize the Intifada,” denies Israel’s legitimacy as a Jewish state, has vowed to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and cited his “thrice-repeated...

I don't know, man. This smells like a trap, even if Sen. John Fetterman offers this honestly. Ever since September 30, the Senate has had a clean continuing resolution on the table that will allow for several weeks of negotiations on the FY2026 budget. Senate Democrats refuse to end their filibuster, demanding well over a trillion dollars' worth of concessions, including the effective repeal of key parts of the GOP's reconciliation package that passed over the summer. For three weeks, Chuck Schumer has kept the government (mainly) shut down, and still refuses to consider ending the impasse. One big part...

President Trump succeeded in getting phase one of his peace plan enacted. That meant a ceasefire in which all of the 20 living Israeli hostages were returned to Israel in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and a partial withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza. (Hamas was supposed to return the deceased hostages as well but it seems that is going to take a bit longer to accomplish.) But the big question has been whether or not Trump's team could move on from a successful phase one of the plan to phase two, which everyone agrees is the tougher part....

President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has slapped illegal aliens with nearly $10 billion in fines, aiming to pressure them into self-deporting rather than draining taxpayer resources through lengthy court battles and forced removals. According to DHS officials, more than 31,600 fine notices have been issued, totaling over $9.6 billion. The new information about the fines was revealed by DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, who spoke with Breitbart News. These penalties are designed to hit illegal aliens where it hurts, their wallets, while offering grace for those who choose voluntary departure. Through the CBP Home mobile app, individuals...

Portugal has moved to ban burqas used for “gender or religious motives,” and fines for not abiding by the rules are steep. “If signed into law,” the bill, which was proposed by the Chega party, means face veils will not be allowed in most public spaces, Reuters reported on Friday, noting that veils will be allowed in airplanes, diplomatic premises, and places of worship. The outlet said France, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands have full or partial bans in place. It also explained, “President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa could still veto the bill or send it to the Constitutional Court...

"The stakes couldn't be higher," Jay Jones, the Virginia Democrat running for state attorney general, said Monday in an X post. It was an ironic post, coming 10 days after National Review reported numerous violent text messages Jones sent to a colleague in the legislature about a Republican lawmaker. Jones fantasized about urinating on the graves of political opponents as well as shooting then-Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert with "two bullets to the head." He also texted that he hoped Gilbert's wife, Jennifer, would one day hold one of her children as they died. He followed that post with the...

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he believes New York City could soon elect a "communist" mayor and signaled he’d prefer a Democrat to take the reins at City Hall over a far-left candidate. Asked during a White House press gaggle whether he’d urge Republican Curtis Sliwa to drop out of the race, Trump didn’t endorse anyone, but made clear his concern about current polling with just two weeks to go until Election Day. "Well, I looked at the polls and looks like we're going to have a communist as the mayor of New York," Trump said. "It'll be very...

Paul Ingrassia, President Donald Trump’s embattled nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, withdrew on Tuesday after his involvement in racist leaked texts from Young Republicans leaders. Ingrassia announced that he is withdrawing from a hearing for his Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs appointment. Ingrassia reportedly described himself as having a “Nazi streak” in the messages that were leaked and first reported on by Politico. “I will be withdrawing myself from Thursday’s HSGAC hearing to lead the Special Counsel because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time,” he wrote. “I appreciate the...

Kiss rocker Gene Simmons called out Jewish Hollywood celebrities pushing “incendiary” anti-Israel propaganda. “They don’t understand, they’re just idiots,” the “I Love It Loud” singer said. “Hey guys, my name is Haim, born in Haifa,” Simmons said in Hebrew, before switching to English, adding, “I’m one of you guys, so don’t worry about all the Jewish morons who are running around saying all kinds of incendiary things. They don’t understand, they’re just idiots.” “If they spent a day with you, and saw — well, imagine this, you live in Beverly Hills and 35,000 rockets come in that week from Pasadena,...

British Storm Shadow missiles have been used by Volodymyr Zelensky to strike an important chemical plant that produces gunpowder in southern Russia. The use of missiles supplied by Britain in Russia's Bryansk region will likely spark condemnation from Vladimir Putin's government. 'A massive combined missile and air strike was carried out, including the use of air-launched Storm Shadow missiles, which successfully penetrated the Russian air defense system,' Ukraine's General Staff said in a statement on X on Tuesday. 'This enterprise produces gunpowder, explosives, and components for rocket fuel, in particular for ammunition and missiles that the enemy uses to shell...

President Trump’s aggressive use of tariffs has secured overwhelming support among Republican voters, according to a new Economist/YouGov poll, cementing a dramatic transformation in conservative economic thinking that would have been unthinkable a generation ago. The survey, conducted Oct. 17-20, found that roughly two-thirds of Trump voters and Republicans support maintaining or increasing current tariff levels — a striking endorsement of trade policies that the party’s establishment once uniformly opposed. Among conservatives, 62 percent support maintaining or increasing current tariff levels. Even more remarkably, 59 percent of Trump voters back imposing a 100 percent tariff on all goods imported from...

Hillary Clinton continues to turn heads with her new-and-improved look. On Thursday, October 16, the former secretary of state, 77, attended the opening night of the revival of Ragtime on Broadway at The Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center in New York City. Celebrities — including Anna Wintour, Woody Allen, Rachel Zegler and Ben Platt — were among those who took in the musical, running now through January. At the event, Hillary wore a bright blue outfit with a matching scarf wrapped around her neck while smiling at the camera — but it was her bizarrely youthful appearance that caught...
