Paul Ingrassia, President Donald Trump’s embattled nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, withdrew on Tuesday after his involvement in racist leaked texts from Young Republicans leaders.
Ingrassia announced that he is withdrawing from a hearing for his Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs appointment. Ingrassia reportedly described himself as having a “Nazi streak” in the messages that were leaked and first reported on by Politico.
“I will be withdrawing myself from Thursday’s HSGAC hearing to lead the Special Counsel because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time,” he wrote. “I appreciate the overwhelming support that I have received throughout this process and will continue to serve President Trump and this administration to Make America Great Again!”
Politico recently published messages from a text chain between several Young Republican leaders, some of which included racist language and even praise for Adolf Hitler.
Politico reported about Ingrassia:
Ingrassia made other racist remarks, according to the chain. In January 2024, he wrote of former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy: “Never trust a chinaman or Indian” and then added: “NEVER,” the texts show. Ramaswamy, the son of Indian immigrants, declined to comment.
A month later, discussing why some Republicans feel that Democrats make Black people into victims, the texts show Ingrassia remarked: “Blacks behave that way because that’s their natural state … You can’t change them.” He then added, according to the chat: “Proof: all of Africa is a shithole, and will always be that way.” (In his first term, Trump used the term “shithole countries” to describe some African nations and Haiti.)
Ingrassia’s lawyer at the time tried to cast doubt on the messages in a statement when Politico first published its story.
“In this age of AI, authentication of allegedly leaked messages, which could be outright falsehoods, doctored, or manipulated, or lacking critical context, is extremely difficult,” Edward Andrew Paltzik said.
Nazi is a synonym for control freak, so he might have skated on that alone. But an allegation of sexual harassment, and maybe more to come, may have sealed his fate. On this kind of thing, there’s never just one roach.
The sequence of events was reported as follows:
The female colleague initially objected to the arrangement but ultimately relented to avoid a scene in front of others.
The woman later filed a human resources complaint but withdrew it days afterward, reportedly fearing retaliation.
Sources told Politico that the woman had complained to at least five other administration officials, saying Ingrassia was making her feel uncomfortable and hurting her ability to do her job.
Ingrassia has denied any wrongdoing. ]
There was nothing even remotely controversial about his opinions, only that he made the mistake of saying them.
But sure, some will come here to tell me that I'm wrong, that MLK Day, Juneteenth, and Kwanzaa are wonderful American holidays, that blacks are by their nature industrious and law abiding, and that one should always trust Chinese and Indians.
“There was nothing even remotely controversial about his opinions, only that he made the mistake of saying them.”
If they weren’t controversial, what was the problem with sharing his opinions?
Do you really think that his comments on Indian-Americans and Chinese were acceptable?
(By the way, he did NOT say that Indians and Chinese could not always be trusted. He said that they could NEVER be trusted.)
Egad! Word for word, he sounds like certain Freepers. Maybe he is one of them.
Meanwhile democrats and their allies call for the death of republicans, the murder of children, killing “whiteness,” destroy the nation, destroy capitalism, on and on.
We could've just rolled our eyes and moved on.
Do you really think that his comments on Indian-Americans and Chinese were acceptable?
Increasingly, YES!
Try dropping the “meanwhile.’’
Moral relativism is a weak justification for abhorrent behavior.
And Democrats don't demand resignations or even apologies.
They want to win and know so do their voters.
Not us though. We clutch our pearls and demand our candidates withdraw from nominations so that someone more appealing to Democrats might get the nod.
Publicly making racially based generalizations about people is never going to fly. If you agree with them, that’s your prerogative, but everyone else isn’t obligated to commit suicide in the court of public opinion trying to defend the indefensible.
Keep acting as enforcers for the Left and see where this gets us.
Saying you have a “Nazi streak” is pretty much game over and it’s hardly a stretch for someone with common sense to believe that it would be. It indicates lack of ability to think clearly to even think such a thing, let alone continuing to show you have zero judgment in actually writing it down.
It's only indefensible when pearl clutchers clutch their pearls.
"Won't someone think of the people who will never vote for us???"
Spot on.
But, you're talking to some people who promote x-rated programming and also defended playing games where you hire and use prostitutes, then hack them to death in brutal, realistic fashion afterwards...saying it is "just a game."
It's indefensible because it was immoral and wrong and flies in the face of common decency.
Is it game over?
Maine Democratic Senate candidate insists he's 'not a secret Nazi' after controversial tattoo reveal
Is Graham Platner going to withdraw from the race after it was discovered he had a Death's Head tattoo?
No. He simply going to get it removed.
Will Democrats punish him and withhold their vote for a candidate who got Nazi tattoos?
Unlikely. Democrats want to win Senate seats.
Well, hopefully Trump will nominate someone more palatable to liberals and so-called "conservatives" who carry their water.
What he said is toxic to a majority of voters across the political spectrum. If you don’t understand that or believe that then you’re divorced from reality. Furthermore, why isn’t there someone else who could do just as well as this kid without the baggage? What’s so special about him that would justify a fight to the death over his nomination?
Your position is the linchpin of political correctness. Without this prohibition truth would emerge and we would all be better for it.
If we can’t say out loud that blacks are quick to violence as a group, and lack analytical math skills in learning, again not individually but as a group, we will always falsely blame the police for their crimes and the schools for their failures.
Because anyone who has gone through life without stating a controversial opinion is a soy boy and the media is going to unearth any controversial opinion that might've been shared by anyone remotely qualified for the job.
Do you want hard people in Homeland Security or do you want milquetoast wussies?
Anyways, the liberal media did their job. The dug up dirt that they knew would upset the pearl clutchers.
Congratulations!
