Politico’s knee-jerk reaction to trust but not verify leftist magazine The Nation’s retort to Vice President J.D. Vance’s connection of the latter to billionaire George Soros is the epitome of what happens when journalists let Trump Derangement rot their brains so much they throw ethics to the wind. During his guest-host appearance for the Charlie Kirk Show September 15, Vance argued that Soros “funds” The Nation, which drew the ire of the magazine’s president Bhaskar Sunkara, who falsely accused him of “lying” in an X post. “[W]e're not funded, not one dime, by Soros or Open Society Foundation,” Sunkara railed....

The Washington Post September 11, 2025 Karen, I am writing to inform you that The Post is terminating your employment effective immediately for gross misconduct. Your public comments on social media regarding the death of Charlie Kirk violate The Post’s social media policies, harm the integrity of our organization, and potentially endanger the physical safety of our staff. Among other requirements, the Company-wide social media policy mandates that all employee social media postings be respectful and prohibits postings that disparage people based on their race, gender or other protected characteristics. The policy also reminds employees that everything they post is...

As Democrats search for their way out of the political wilderness, a new think tank, introduced on Wednesday, has some ideas about where the party went wrong. Among them: too much emphasis on issues like climate change and L.G.B.T.Q. rights, and far too much deference to the powerful liberal organizations championing those causes at the expense, some argue, of appealing to voters in battleground states. The think tank, the Searchlight Institute, was started by Adam Jentleson, a veteran Democratic operative. He knows that his effort, intended to minimize the sway that left-leaning groups have over candidates before what is expected...

@RepJamesComer 🚨BREAKING🚨 I'm calling on the CEOs of Discord, Steam, Twitch, & Reddit to testify at an Oversight Committee hearing on October 8. The hearing will examine the radicalization of online forum users, including instances of open incitement to commit politically motivated acts. @RepJamesComer The politically motivated assassination of Charlie Kirk claimed the life of a husband, father, and American patriot. In the wake of this tragedy, and amid other acts of politically motivated violence, Congress has a duty to oversee the online platforms that radicals have used to advance political violence. To prevent future radicalization and violence, the CEOs...

Former President Barack Obama believes the nation is at an “inflection point” following Charlie Kirk’s assassination as the Democrat said in his first public comments on the tragedy Tuesday that the conservative commentator’s violent death was a “tragedy” regardless of his views. “And then when it happens to somebody, even if you think they’re quote unquote ‘on the other side of the argument,’ that’s a threat to all of us and we have to be clear and forthright and condemn it,” Obama said as he addressed the shocking murder during a Pennsylvania forum. “Regardless of where you are on the...

A lot of "lawfare" coming out of Brazil these days. It reminds me of an earlier time when Frank Sinatra sang about that huge country in South America and their obsession with coffee: "The politician's daughter Was accused of drinkin' water And was fined a great big fifty dollar bill They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil." Yes, it was more of fun to sing about coffee or maybe do that famous bossa nova that you see in the carnival.Things are looking a little familiar down in Brazil. Opposition politicians going after the former president, who is planning...

Eighty-six years ago, Soviet forces crossed into Poland from the east, executing their part of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact; as in other campaigns both before and since, the Kremlin would follow a familiar playbook, using propaganda to mask their aggression and frame themselves as liberators. Having fought gallantly since Germany launched its Blitzkrieg on September 1, 1939, Poland’s hopes of survival crumbled on the morning of September 17 when approximately half a million Soviet troops poured over the border, backed up by almost 5,000 armored vehicles and 2,000 aircraft. Now fighting a war on two fronts, the country was left scrambling...

Those of us fortunate enough to live anywhere but New York City may take comfort from reading the news about what is arguably NYC’s biggest campaign issue in 2025 -- the lack of affordable housing in the nation’s biggest city. “There but for the grace of God go I,” we may say, shaking our heads in flyover country, where apartment rents and home prices may also be too high, but where there is at least some kind of availability. But NYC’s problem is only local in part; many of the inputs are nationwide issues, which a new mayor, regardless of...

VIDEO AT LINK................... The Tulsa County Public Defender’s Office has become embroiled in controversy following a social media post by assistant attorney Chance Bennett, who commented “Good” in response to the news of the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado strongly condemned the comment, calling it a “total and absolute lack of human decency” and stating that “we cannot celebrate the death of another human being.” County Prosecutor Steve Kunzweiler also expressed his disapproval, noting that Bennett’s behavior is “inappropriate” for someone holding a legal position in Oklahoma. The Public Defender’s Office issued a statement...

Inflation has remained relatively high, meaning goods are becoming more expensive, particularly the cost of food, official figures show. The rate of price rises remained at 3.8% in August, the same as in July, according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Food and non-alcoholic drinks price rises, however, accelerated from 4.9% to 5.1%, far higher than the headline rate and other measures of inflation. It's the fifth monthly rise in a row and the first time in 18 months such a high has been reached. "Small increases" were seen in vegetables, cheeses and fish, the ONS said....

Ukraine expects there will be around $3.5 billion by next month in a fund to buy weapons from the United States and help sustain its more than three-year fight against Russia’s all-out invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday. The financial arrangement known as the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List, or PURL, pools contributions from NATO members, except the United States, to purchase American weapons, munitions and equipment. “We received more than $2 billion from our partners specifically for the PURL program," Zelenskyy said at a joint news conference in Kyiv with visiting European Parliament President Roberta Metsola. "We will receive...

"I don’t get no respect," said Rodney Dangerfield, thousands of times. It was one of the great taglines in show-business history. It was the basis of his act—the denial of respect. Whatever his protestations, Rodney was one of the most beloved entertainers of the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s. There is now a biography, Nothin’ Comes Easy, by Michael Seth Starr. Mr. Starr has written many biographies of entertainers, and several of comedians such as Dangerfield. His other subjects include Joey Bishop, Redd Foxx, and Don Rickles. You may prefer to read a long magazine piece about Dangerfield. You may prefer...
