Conor McGregor is making a push to run for president of Ireland, and apparently Elon Musk is behind him. The UFC fighter wrote in March that he would be making a run for office and implored people to sign a petition last month that would "ensure" he is on the ballot. According to Irish news, however, the country's prime minister, Simon Harris, has ordered his Fine Gael party councilors to block independent candidates like McGregor from being nominated. The news caught the attention of Elon Musk on X, and he was not pleased. "Shame on Simon Harris for tyrannically blocking...

On Tuesday morning, Capitol Hill was rocked by the release of a never-before-seen military surveillance video showing what appears to be a glowing orb, an Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), shrugging off a U.S. Hellfire missile like it was a paper airplane. The 100-pound air-to-ground missile literally bounced off the craft, barely leaving an impact, before the UAP shot away at impossible speeds. The shocking footage, captured by an MQ-9 Reaper drone off the coast of Yemen on October 30, 2024, was unveiled by Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) during the latest congressional hearing on UAPs. Burlison wrote: Below is the video...

Sir Keir Starmer and Nato chief Mark Rutte said more pressure – including through sanctions – must be heaped on Vladimir Putin to engage with peace talks. It comes as US President Donald Trump has threatened stronger sanctions against Russia after it carried out the largest aerial attack on Ukraine since the war began. Sir Keir hosted Mr Rutte at Downing Street on Wednesday afternoon, after the Nato Secretary General joined a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG). A Downing Street spokeswoman said: “Turning to Ukraine, the leaders reflected on the situation on the frontline and underscored the...

CHICAGO (AP) — The streets in some of Chicago’s liveliest neighborhoods are quiet these days. Public schoolteachers want online learning for families scared to venture out. And houses of worship are urging people to carry identification everywhere they go. As the nation’s third-largest city awaits a much-hyped federal intervention, residents are making changes in their daily routines. President Donald Trump has promised Chicago will see a surge in deportations and National Guard troops as he targets Democratic strongholds. While the feeling of being vulnerable isn’t new, especially among immigrants, many say this time the fear is deeper and the preparations...

wo new Democrats who are expected to be sworn into Congress this month will be able to finalize the push to force a vote for a full release of the criminal files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. As Rep. Thomas Massie’s (R-KY) discharge petition is merely two signatures short of forcing House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to put Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna’s (D-CA) bill on the House floor for a vote, two special elections will take place this month in which the Democratic candidate will likely be the victor.

NEW YORK — (AP) — A New York City couple in their 70s was killed Monday in what the police commissioner said was a “horrific double homicide, robbery and arson" — the man tied to a pole and stabbed, the woman’s body severely burned as their home went up in flames. Frank Olton, 76, and Maureen Olton, 77, were found dead around 3:30 p.m. Monday, about 20 minutes after surveillance video showed suspect Jamel McGriff walking near their Queens home. The couple's son, a fire department EMT, called 911 after being alerted to the fire by the couple's alarm monitoring...

(DCNF)—U.S. job growth in the year through March was much weaker than previously reported, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) revisions released on Tuesday. The U.S. economy likely added 911,000 fewer jobs in the year ending in March — or an average of almost 76,000 fewer each month — according to the BLS’ preliminary benchmark revision. The report comes after job growth slowed in August, with the U.S. economy adding just 22,000 nonfarm payroll jobs, according to data released Friday by BLS. ADVERTISEMENT The jobs report revisions were even worse than the downward adjustment of 700,000 that was previously...

Short summary of updates: The risk level for transgender youth has sharply escalated in several states, with this month marking one of the most dangerous increases in years. The surge stems largely from mass compliance with Trump’s executive orders targeting gender-affirming care, leading many states to see some or all of their youth clinics shutter. State attorneys general could intervene by enforcing state equality protections—forcing clinics to fight the federal government in court rather than preemptively cut off care—but none have done so. For transgender adults, risk levels have risen significantly in only one state—Maine—though the broader increase comes through...

In her response to the murder of Iryna Zarutska on a light-rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina, the city’s mayor demonstrated the mindset that allowed the heinous act to happen in the first place. The mayor, Vi Lyles, called the murder of the young Ukraine refugee woman “a tragic situation that sheds light on problems with society safety nets related to mental health care.” This is euphemistic prattle. What Lyles calls “a tragic situation” was a gruesome crime, and lack of “society safety nets” must be her way of admitting that Charlotte serially failed to confine a deranged repeat offender...

Bad news for electric vehicle owners in California. The California DMV is reminding drivers that federal regulations authorizing Clean Air Vehicle decals, which allowed qualifying cars to use carpool lanes with a single occupant or pay reduced toll rates in some areas, will expire on Sept. 30. The decals were valid for up to four years, but the federal government’s decision to end the program means all decals will become invalid on Oct. 1, regardless of when they were issued.

“If mayors can’t keep their trains and buses safe, they don’t deserve the taxpayers’ money,” Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Sean Duffy said, making it clear that the DOT is investigating the devastating Charlotte stabbing. “I stand firm with President Trump’s message of zero tolerance for criminality, especially on our federal DOT funded public transportation,” Duffy said on X. Somebody did something very naughty, and I need to know who did it. I'm very serious here. If I don't get an answer, nobody gets anything to eat before dinner. Except for some light snacks around three. And cocktails at five, of course — I'm not a monster. So I just read this morning that some terrible — but perhaps terribly clever — person did a small drone strike on the lead boat of toxic pixie and part-time female He-Man impersonator Greta Thunberg's Happy Fun Hamas Terrorist Relief Flotilla. Or did they? According to the flotilla, one of their vessels...

85 percent of women in Amsterdam avoid specific places in the city because they feel unsafe, AT5 reported after surveying over 2,100 Amsterdam residents. Men included, around 70 percent of Amsterdammers have areas they consider dangerous. On average, Amsterdammers give how safe they feel in the city at night a 6 out of 10. But that comes with the warning to avoid certain places in the dark. City parks were most often mentioned, specifically Vondelpark, Sarphatipark, and Oosterpark. “You have less of an overview there, and there are fewer people around,” one respondent said about going to a park at...

Horrific video of the 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee’s death in an apparently random stabbing has become a flashpoint in the debate over crime in U.S. cities. The shocking and apparently random fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Aug. 22 has inflamed already furious debates over race and crime in U.S. cities. This uproar comes at a particularly perilous moment, with the Trump administration widening its National Guard deployments across the nation and the Supreme Court lifting restrictions that would prevent ICE agents from profiling people based on their ethnicity or what...

The Supreme Court agreed Tuesday to hear arguments over President Donald Trump’s sweeping global tariffs, taking up a fast-moving appeal that deals with the centerpiece of the administration’s economic agenda. In the meantime, the tariffs will remain in place while the court hears the case. Trump is pressing the justices to overturn a lower court ruling that found his administration acted unlawfully by imposing many of his import taxes, including the “Liberation Day” tariffs the White House announced in April and tariffs placed this year against China, Mexico and Canada that were designed to combat fentanyl entering the United States....

Attorney General Pam Bondi has directed her team to federally prosecute Decarlos Brown Jr., 34 — a repeat offender with a lengthy felony rap sheet — accused of murdering 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska. “Iryna Zarutska was a young woman living the American dream — her horrific murder is a direct result of failed soft-on-crime policies that put criminals before innocent people,” Bondi said in an X post on Tuesday. “I have directed my attorneys to federally prosecute DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat violent offender with a history of violent crime, for murder,” she continued, making it clear that they are seeking...

NASA may be preparing to deliver some monumental news about Mars after surprisingly calling for a rare news conference on Wednesday. Officials with the space agency said they plan to discuss a 'new finding' by the Perseverance rover, which has been on the Red Planet since 2021. The discovery involves a rock called 'Sapphire Canyon,' collected by the rover in July 2024 from an ancient river system in a Martian area called Neretva Vallis. Scientists are excited because this rock might contain 'biosignatures,' which are chemical clues that could hint at ancient microbial life on Mars. >>> While NASA has...
