Bad news for electric vehicle owners in California.
The California DMV is reminding drivers that federal regulations authorizing Clean Air Vehicle decals, which allowed qualifying cars to use carpool lanes with a single occupant or pay reduced toll rates in some areas, will expire on Sept. 30.
The decals were valid for up to four years, but the federal government’s decision to end the program means all decals will become invalid on Oct. 1, regardless of when they were issued.

Yes! I voted for this.
All things Democrat prove to be a scam in the end.
Don’t panic, single occupant California EV drivers.
Buy a cheap mannequin. Dress it up like a Muslim. Put it in your front passenger seat. No one will bother you.
Simple, eh?
Saving the Earth should be reward enough.
Solo carpool access? Is that where you can use the carpool lane as long as you are holding a red Solo cup?
Solo carpool access means Harrison Ford won’t be ticketed.
On a related note, I've seen a lot more Teslas around Pocatello this Summer. Recently, I've started checking to see if they have Idaho license plates. A few do and they are local (Bannock County 1B prefix) plates. Winter is coming. I only know of 2 places to charge an EV in town. The Walmart lot and one of the car dealers.

Me Too....
Ah, yes. The government giveth, and the government taketh away.
This is actually a repeat of the democRATS offering carpool lane access to the “correct” vehicle.
When the Prius hybrid first came out, the same virtue-signaling leftists purchased them. The Kalifornia democRATS dangled the same “carpool lane access” if you had, or would buy, a Prius. Later, they rescinded carpool lane “privilege.” More than a few of the Prius owners who ONLY purchased the Prius to access the carpool lane were none too pleased. Oh, well.
Ok, I laughed, that was good!
And those days are pretty much over, even as a passenger.
Boise metro has two Tesla dealerships, and one charging station I know of behind the Tucanos restaurant on Overland Rd. Teslas are everywhere around here.
“I only know of 2 places to charge an EV in town. The Walmart lot and one of the car dealers.”
Many may have a home charger.
I’d be reticent to use an EV in Houston due to the flooding issue in hurricane season every year. But for around town in a more inland place a Tesla might work well.
“”Yes he would, but for speeding in his rust bucket Ford Falcon.””
As long as he stays out of airplanes, it’s OK!

Some well-deserved PUNISHMENT for helping to advance the Democrat Agenda.
Boo hoo, libs, cry me a river.
Anything below that and it's cheaper to get a gas car. Drive more than 12K miles per year (we drive ours 18K on home charged miles, not counting charging on road trips) and an EV is worth it. But even with that, I wouldn't get one unless you have a gas car (like if you need 2 cars anyway in a marriage) for the road trips that don't have good fast charging options (or if you drive up north during the winter).
To be honest, the truly main reason I got an EV is because I charge it with home solar. I can't produce my own gasoline and do most of my driving in a gas car with homemade energy like I can with an EV. I just did the math as though the solar wouldn't be enough (and I'd have to pull power from the grid for charging).
