Archaeologists have cracked the code of 255 mysterious symbols carved into a rock in Canada more than 200 years ago. The writing was discovered in 2018 after a fallen tree revealed the square-shaped inscription near the town of Wawa, located about 155 miles from the nearest US border crossing in Michigan. Ryan Primrose, an archaeologist from the Ontario Center for Archaeological Education, has now revealed that the symbols form the Lord’s Prayer — a well-known Christian prayer — written in Swedish. He identified the characters as Nordic runes, part of an old alphabet once used in Sweden and other parts...

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney praised President Donald Trump for his “bold measures” to address substantial changes around the globe to commence the G7 meeting in Alberta, Canada, on Monday. Carney referenced several previous G7 gatherings throughout the last five decades at “turning points in history,” including after the fall of the Berlin Wall and after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, and contended the current moment is another turning point on the global stage: We’re meeting at one of those hinge moments, those turning points in history. The world’s more divided and dangerous. Hostile states...

Despite plans to demolish the complex, the city will repurpose the building for asylum housing. The German city of Bargteheide has scrapped plans to demolish a senior citizens’ residential complex on Nelkenweg after vacating all residents, opting instead to house asylum seekers in the building. Former residents had been told the building was uninhabitable and were forced to relocate. However, following an inspection, just five units will undergo renovation, while the remainder will be used as-is by the new arrivals. As reported by Abendblatt, Mayor Gabriele Hettwer defended the decision, saying all cost-related issues had been resolved and that a full...

As federal immigration enforcement operations ripple across Orange County, local community groups are scrambling to respond in real time. At the center of this grassroots effort is the Orange County Rapid Response Network, or OCRRN, a community-run coalition that’s become the primary source of updates on where Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids are happening, and where agents might go next. ... "Through those methods, De Anda said her team documented at least 50 to 60 detentions across the county over a three-day period this week." ... “What we have traditionally seen in terms of ICE agents is them wearing ICE...

*** Just before the attacks commenced, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slipped a prayer into a crack in the Western Wall. He scribbled this note with full knowledge that Operation Rising Lion was about to begin. The name of the plan is also likely a nod to Iran's pre-regime flag, which was emblazoned with a lion. ... And what ensued is said to have exceeded the Israelis' wildest expectations *** A crucial component to this sweeping success was the element of surprise. The Israelis engaged in deception and subterfuge of their own, of course, but the President of the United States...

Senate Finance Chair Mike Crapo on Monday unveiled changes to how the GOP’s “big, beautiful bill” would execute a major tax revamp and Medicaid cuts — two of the thorniest policy fights in the sweeping legislation. The release comes after closed-door negotiations between Crapo and his colleagues over how to revise the version of the megabill the House passed last month. Crapo’s plan would create more limited tax breaks for tips and overtime demanded by President Donald Trump. It also holds the cap on the state and local tax deduction to the current $10,000, far less than the House’s $40,000,...

After years of sellers calling the shots, some of the hottest pandemic-era housing markets are now grappling with a surplus of listings — and not enough willing buyers. According to real estate brokerage Redfin, April saw nearly half a million more homes listed than buyers in the market, the largest gap since at least 2013. But this supply surge hasn’t translated into a wave of closings. Instead, home sales have stalled in many areas, particularly across the Southeast and Southwest, where inventory has ballooned past pre-pandemic norms. In Miami, for example, there were almost three times as many sellers as...

HBO host Bill Maher accused actor Sean Penn of being a hypocrite this week after the actor slammed the comedian’s meeting with President Donald Trump. During the latest episode of Maher’s "Club Random" podcast, the comedian and political commentator called out Penn’s meetings with world dictators when the actor pointed out that he wouldn’t have gone to dinner with Trump like Maher had. "Really, you meet with f---ing Castro and Hugo Chavez, but not the President of the United States?" Maher asked. The disagreement came while the two discussed Maher’s meeting with the president at the White House in April....

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that sanctuary cities will be denied federal tax dollars to repair damage caused by the recent anti-ICE riots. Duffy made it clear that cities refusing to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement shouldn’t expect hardworking American taxpayers to foot the bill for destruction enabled by their own reckless policies. On Monday, Duffy announced that cities emboldening anti-ICE rioters will receive no funding to fix the damage caused by protestors who destroyed buildings and infrastructure, all the while their Democratic leaders stood by and cheered on the rioters. “The @USDOT will NOT fund rogue state actors who...
