There was a time, before 1913, when you could keep every penny you earned. You did not have to file with the federal government, telling them what you earned and giving the feds their cut. Your finances were your business and no one else’s. You had the right to earn, own, and keep property, and it was sacrosanct, guaranteed by U.S. law and tradition.Andrii Yalanskyi/ShutterstockThere were no audits, investigations, account freezes, withholdings, or any other forms of payment. There was your productivity and you and that’s all.How was the government funded? It earned revenue through tariffs. These are paid directly...

If the Mexican cartels are concerned about President Donald Trump's plans for them, it sure didn't seem like it this night. If only because someone who was worried probably wouldn't show a reporter the guns he'd just smuggled from the U.S. nor the fentanyl he was about to ship back north. Not to mention a safe house filled with migrants about to be crossed illegally at the border wall. And yet that's what we saw, spending two nights with members of one the largest cartels in Mexico the week of Trump's inauguration. They asked us not to share which cartel,...

So. Much. Winning. Colombia's President Gustavo Petro has called on his fellow countrymen who are skulking in the United States to come home and help build their own country. What a novel idea. Why didn't anybody think of that before? Petro has been feuding with Trump for what seems like years, but in reality has been only two weeks, and he appears to be giving up the fight. Not that he puts it that way. He thought he was the unstoppable force, but he discovered that Donald Trump is the immovable object which was as harmed by Petro's petulance as...

President Donald Trump isn’t wasting any time in his second term. On Friday, Trump banned former CIA Director John Brennan, former National Security Advisor John Bolton, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper from all U.S. secure federal buildings. These are the same men who pushed the infamous Hunter Biden “Russian disinformation” hoax in 2020, misleading the American public just weeks before the presidential election. The January 29 cabinet memorandum broadened Trump’s initial executive order from his first day in office, which withdrew security clearances for 50 individuals.

CHICAGO — It was still dark and cold at 5:30 am Thursday when teams of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers hit the streets on “targeted enforcement” missions to arrest criminal illegal migrants. Further complicating matters, local activists, legislators and school administrators in Illinois have been...

As the new Trump administration is now governing full steam ahead, sovereignty is back with a vengeance. With inaugural balls still lingering in Washington’s atmosphere, Donald Trump wasted no time in reimplementing aspects of American sovereignty that were dismantled or neglected during Joe Biden’s time in office. In a flurry of executive orders, Trump canceled asylum appointments at the United States-Mexico border, laid the groundwork for ICE deportations, and withdrew the U.S. from the World Health Organization and the Paris climate accords. On the economic front, Trump is planning tariffs on China to curtail the flow of fentanyl. At universities,...

QUESTION: Ukraine’s another issue that’s got the party divided. SECRETARY RUBIO: Yeah. QUESTION: You’ve got a lot – I’m just sticking with the Republicans now, because there’s a whole other debate with the other side of the aisle – but who say no, Putin’s a bad actor; Russia’s a growing threat, and we’re doing the right thing by backing Ukraine. And I would say the majority of Republicans now are against that viewpoint and think we’ve lost – we’ve spent too much. It’s anyplace from 105 billion to 187 billion. And they’ve lost. We just have to be realistic about...
