Why Did Rod Dreher Become Eastern Orthodox?Editor’s note: we appeal with love and respect to our separated brother, Mr. Rod Dreher, and all Catholics who have questioned or lost their faith in the ancient doctrine of the Apostolic See and taken refuge in one of the Greek schisms. This piece is authored by a Russian Orthodox Christian who reconciled with Rome after a thorough study of the Fathers and writes from Russia. The United States and Russia are not now on best terms. Yet, no compatriot of mine would deny you Yankees, your taste for a good bargain. So, as a...

Cleanup in Terminal 3! A group of travelers and one employee threw punches, grabbed hair and whacked each other with “Wet Floor” signs in a wild, caught-on-camera brawl reminiscent of a WWE match inside Chicago O’Hare International Airport last week. Insane video shared on social media of the Dec. 12 melee shows three men — including an employee in a blue shirt — seemingly teaming up against one man in a white T-shirt inside American Airlines Terminal Three. The men punch each other and use the yellow floor signs as weapons, smacking each other in the head and body as...

For the first time in history, a Nativity scene was displayed on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Tuesday, marking what organizers say is a milestone for religious freedom and the First Amendment. The display, accompanied by prayer, Christmas carols and a reading of the Christmas story, was made possible by a landmark federal court decision that granted Rev. Patrick Mahoney and his supporters the right to peacefully celebrate the Christmas season on Capitol grounds. Held on the southeastern steps of the Capitol, the display was the culmination of a legal battle that began over a decade ago when Mahoney,...

The Georgia Court of Appeals has disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her entire office from her 2020 election interference case against President-elect Donald Trump. In a surprise ruling on Thursday, a three-judge panel from the second division of Georgia’s appellate court denied a request to throw out the entire case but granted a motion to get rid of Willis, and her team who led the indictment against Trump, and 18 other co-defendants last year. In a 12-page order, Judge Trenton Brown stated that Trump and eight of his co-defendants had “numerous grounds” to appeal the case after...

Thousands of Amazon workers organized under the Teamsters union went on strike at 6 a.m. Thursday after the company's "repeated refusal to follow the law and bargain." Amazon Teamsters at seven facilities in Skokie, Illinois; New York City; Atlanta; San Francisco; and Southern California are participating in the "largest strike" against the trillion-dollar company in American history, the union said in a news release. Workers at other facilities are prepared to join them. WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Congress introduced bold legislation this week that, if passed, would ban reading any future spending bills until after they become law. "We needed to pass a new budget to give ourselves raises and pay off lobbyists and bankrupt the country," said House Representative Kay Granger, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee. "But people keep reading the bill and ruining everything." "Reading is a grave threat to democracy," she added. House Speaker Mike Johnson, who previously said reading is fundamental, plans to bring the Readers Are Dweebs Bill to the house floor soon. "Look, I...

Call it the dark side of liberation. America’s most loyal allies in Syria, the Kurds, are now facing the wrath of Turkish proxies that helped topple Bashar al-Assad’s tyranny earlier this month. As of now neither President Joe Biden nor president-elect Donald Trump have offered any guarantees for the survival of the 200,000 Kurds who are now at risk of being cleansed from the northeastern city of Kobani and surrounding areas. “We feel betrayed,” Ilham Ahmed, a Kurd who serves as the de facto foreign minister for the North and East Syrian administration, told The Free Press in an interview...

The Charlotte Hornets organization was apparently visited by three ghosts last night. A day after receiving criticism for a skit in which a child was "given" a PlayStation 5 then had it taken away, the Hornets apologized and announced in a statement they were making things right. The child will receive the PS5, as well as a VIP experience at a future game. The Hornets' full statement: During last night's game there was an on-court skit that missed the mark. The skit included bad decision making and poor communication. Simply put, we turned the ball over and we apologize. We...

The Federal Aviation Administration has temporarily banned drone operations over parts of New Jersey until mid-January and warned that the government may respond with “deadly force” against drones that pose a threat. Beginning on Wednesday and through Jan. 17, unmanned aircraft are barred from flying within a nautical mile of specified airspace outlined in an FAA Notice to Airmen, or NOTAM. The government may use “deadly force” against the drones if they present an “imminent security threat,” the NOTAM said.

FBI agents on Tuesday raided the home of Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Brian Williams in connection with a bomb threat he allegedly made against City Hall earlier this year, a spokesperson for Mayor Karen Bass said. The mayor's office was notified of the search, according to a statement released Wednesday afternoon by Bass's spokesperson Zach Seidl. Williams "was immediately placed on administrative leave," the statement said. "The Mayor takes this matter very seriously. When the threat was reported, LAPD investigated and determined there was no immediate danger. Following additional investigation, LAPD referred this matter to the FBI for further investigation."...

A state appeals court on Thursday removed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from the Georgia election interference case against Donald Trump and others but did not dismiss the indictment, leaving the future of the prosecution uncertain. The case against Trump and more than a dozen others had already been largely stalled for months while the Georgia Court of Appeals considered the pretrial appeal. The new ruling means it will be up to the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia to find another prosecutor to take over the case and to decide whether to continue to pursue it...

Elon Musk was born a South African, so he’s ineligible to serve as either president or vice president of the United States. But he is swiftly showing, by dint of his enormous wealth and growing influence with the person Americans actually elected as president, that neither of those titles are necessary to dominate Washington. Over the course of a few hours yesterday, Musk may have singlehandedly tanked a carefully negotiated bipartisan compromise to fund the government for the next three months and provide billions of dollars in aid for disaster relief and farmers. The deal was the work of House...

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries appeared to shut down Republicans’ push to raise the debt ceiling in a Thursday morning social media post. “GOP extremists want House Democrats to raise the debt ceiling so that House Republicans can lower the amount of your Social Security check. Hard pass,” he posted on his Bluesky account. Jeffries' statement — pointedly not posted on Elon Musk’s X — comes as Republicans are floating the idea for a new stopgap measure to fund the government that would include disaster aid and raising the debt ceiling. And behind closed doors, leaders projected unity and urged...

We find it hard to believe, but according to Mike Benz, a former State Department official, the Biden White House lavished a multinational media syndicate with hundreds of millions of dollars. For its “investment,” the administration apparently received hit pieces against a political enemy. If that’s the price for supporting a corrupt regime, what could we get for trying to hold government accountable for its abuses and malpractice and misfeasance? Benz, deputy assistant secretary of State under President Donald Trump, tweeted earlier this week that “The Biden Admin paid Reuters over $300 million in government contracts. 11 different Biden government...

During an interview with NBC's Kristen Welker President-Elect Donald Trump said "my nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy Jr. will investigate whether the surge in autism is linked to the surge in vaccinations we're giving to infants. Twenty-five years ago one in 100,000 children was diagnosed as autistic. Now it's almost one in 100. These days we're giving more vaccinations to even younger infants than ever before. Often they're getting multiple shots at a time. Maybe it's too much for them to take without suffering some damage." "Some of what I've been hearing about how Pfizer...
