Elon Musk was born a South African, so he’s ineligible to serve as either president or vice president of the United States. But he is swiftly showing, by dint of his enormous wealth and growing influence with the person Americans actually elected as president, that neither of those titles are necessary to dominate Washington.
Over the course of a few hours yesterday, Musk may have singlehandedly tanked a carefully negotiated bipartisan compromise to fund the government for the next three months and provide billions of dollars in aid for disaster relief and farmers. The deal was the work of House Speaker Mike Johnson, who, like Musk, is (er, has been) a close ally of President-Elect Donald Trump. To secure support from Democrats—who still hold the Senate for another few weeks—Johnson agreed to add a host of unrelated provisions, including a long-sought but politically dicey pay raise for lawmakers.

And didn’t you know the massive government spending bill was all about helping farmers?
Leave it to the Atlantic to even get the first sentence wrong.
(Although I admit to holding a minority view here, but it’s true. History is replete with non NBC presidents.)
Except that Musk without the support of millions of Americans would be far, far less influential. Musk is merely a conduit of information to the masses and the masses are simply fed up with the in-your-face corruption of DC. That’s the “power” that is deliberately ommited in this screed.
Elon Musk could very easily test those waters and when the argument presents itself, sue for discovery of Obama’s original birth certificate. Obama’s grandma was in Kenya when he was born there and she was proud to admit seeing her gay baby grandson.
It's funny to read their posts on X. They look and sound so deranged...
Notice how the Atlantic’s take is “Not funding farmers and disaster relief “ while ignoring the attack on free speech, the porkulus inserted into a bill that still spends more than we have?
The narrative of the coming Trump administration will be Musk is actually President dictating policy, not Trump.
HOORAY Elon!
The line item veto would be a step in the right direction. When a bill that is pork laden arrives at the president‘s desk, he could just delete the pork and approve the rest.
All bills should be evaluated by this standard: does it help, or does it do harm? Followed by who does it help and who does it harm?
Presidents have had “Special Advisors” since at least FDR. The DC clown show said not a word about it. This is garbage from clowns more interested in regaining political power then doing the will of the US Voters.
Most Americans are cheering Musk on.
Bingo! No one objects to such a provision. However, the other 1500 pages of bloat and pork and castration of
Republican goals is what needs to be addressed.
Musk is right in pointing out that giving the Democrat/Communist Party everything it wants is not the desired
result of 'negotiation.'
I want to tell you how welcome you are to the White House. I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered together at the White House, with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.JFK's Remarks at a Dinner Honoring Nobel Prize Winners of the Western Hemisphere [April 29, 1962](apropos of nothing)
The left like to make the rules and then howl when folks don’t follow their rules.
One key trick to defeating them is to make our own rules and ignore theirs.
Anything that disrupts the Deep State and the Uniparty is a good thing.
Musk is today’s shiny object.
Wait until the mass deportations of illegal aliens start.
The left will have a new shiny object.
If there was any question before, Elon Musk is certainly now the most influential "influencer" in America. Probably in the world. He is having a huge impact on the course of America and the world.
Trump introduced himself in 2016 as “counter puncher”.
Musk, however, likes to throw the first punch.
I’d say what we have here is a pretty formidable dynamic duo.
Well, it’s not the first time the ‘President’ was born in Africa. . . (evil grin)
Musk is just saying what 77 million voters voted for
if he goes against MAGA
that would be news
Let’s say they’re right about Musk being the president because Trump is too old. Why no curiosity about who’s running the country right now? Yes, I know it’s different for Dems.
