Vice President Kamala Harris will make her final case to voters Tuesday on the Ellipse—one last opportunity before Election Day to contrast her campaign with that of former President Donald Trump, who hosted his infamous “Stop the Steal” rally at the same White House-adjacent park on January 6, 2021. Here’s what Washingtonians should know ahead of Harris’s closing remarks:

Here are the two best Trump videos I have seen. Of course, you can't find them on Youtube (censored, I guess) so these are links from X. If someone has better links they can post them: Men not afraid of women - "Dear Kamala": https://x.com/i/status/1850424273401192705 This is too long for a campaign ad, but it is perfect. Trump theme song - salsa: https://x.com/BehizyTweets/status/1850319302076805232 I love Latin rythym, and this hits the right "notes", so to speak.

You’ve probably been reading in the news lately about how Democrats have started calling Donald Trump a fascist. They’re saying things like: “The stench of fascism is in the air,” and He wants to “replace the Bill of Rights with fascist precepts lifted verbatim from Mein Kampf,” and He “displays the supremacist ideology of Nazi Germany.’’ And, “He is a fascist, for his program takes immediate and direct aim at (a sector of) the working class.’’ Oh, wait. Those statements weren’t about Trump at all. The first quotation was what California Gov. Pat Brown said about Barry Goldwater in 1964....

A 74-year-old Pennsylvania resident was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill former President Donald Trump a day before his Penn State rally, declaring: “I’d like to shoot that guy.” Paul J. Gavenonis — who uses she/her pronouns, according to the Centre County Public Defender’s Office — was nabbed after she was overheard making the alleged threats while trying to buy a parking pass at the university’s transportation office last Friday, the Lexington Herald Leader reported. “I hate Donald Trump. I’d like to shoot that guy,” Gavenonis allegedly said after making a gun-racking motion with her hand.

Donald Trump is facing an extreme sliding-doors scenario on Election Day. If he wins, he would have the power to single-handedly scuttle the federal criminal cases against him, be immune from prosecution while in office, and, thanks to the Supreme Court, have broad immunity from prosecution once — if — he leaves. If he loses, though, he will face criminal penalties that could leave him in command of a 70-square-foot prison cell for most of the rest of his life. “He will be facing serious legal jeopardy if he loses. He knows that,” says Bennett Gershman, a professor of constitutional...

Veteran NBC journalist Andrea Mitchell announced Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that she would take on a different role after the presidential election. Mitchell said, “Now a personal note. In my heart and soul, I’m first and foremost a reporter and story teller. It’s what i started doing when I was chosen back in the sixth grade to write a weekly column about my activities in my elementary school for my hometown paper in New Rochelle, New York. Those are the roots to me growing into an NBC news correspondent. That’s why when we launched this program in 2008...

Justin Trudeau is creating a new arm of the state with sweeping powers aimed at criminalising opinions deemed ‘unacceptable’ by progressives. (skip) Anyone in Canada can seemingly snitch to this Commission, about any online content whatsoever – indeed, it encourages them to – and many will be more than happy to oblige. The Commission also has the power of a superior court of record, and can act in that manner. However, the members of the Commission are not defined with regard to the necessity of any professional competence (such as legal training). Worse: it says explicitly in the bill that their...

The Washington Post has been rocked by a tidal wave of cancellations from digital subscribers and a series of resignations from columnists, as the paper grapples with the fallout of owner Jeff Bezos’s decision to block an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for president. More than 200,000 people had canceled their digital subscriptions by midday Monday, according to two people at the paper with knowledge of internal matters. Not all cancellations take effect immediately. Still, the figure represents about 8% of the paper’s paid circulation of roughly 2.5 million subscribers, which includes print as well. The number of cancellations...

San Francisco 49ers player Jonathan Feliciano, who is of Puerto Rican heritage, is blasting the left and the media for attacking a comedian who appeared at Donald Trump’s huge rally at Madison Square Garden last weekend. Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe — whose schtick is as an insult comic — quickly came under fire for joking that Puerto Rico is an “island of garbage” at the October 27 rally in New York. But NFL player Feliciano was not at all offended. The 49ers guard took to his X account to scold people for getting mad at a comedian. “The only Puerto Ricans...

An early prototype of an atmospheric water harvesting device from H. Jeremy Cho’s lab. Credit: Jeff Scheid/UNLV ======================================================================== Researchers at UNLV have developed a groundbreaking technology that efficiently extracts large amounts of water from the air, even in extremely low-humidity conditions. Inspired by natural processes observed in tree frogs and air plants, this technology utilizes a hydrogel membrane and can be powered by solar energy, offering a sustainable water source for arid regions. Transforming Air Into Water Turning the air around us into drinking water has long seemed like a marvel, closer to science fiction than reality—especially when it comes...

A new cold fusion claim was made by the Indian company HYLENR. I had a look -- and I have some comments. I’ve spent a lot of time looking at what the LENR people are doing and in my impression most of them are neither stupid nor scammers. They’re serious but not always particularly great scientists. And yes, I’m a little skeptical about

Designating Election Day as a national holiday and giving workers the day off paid would largely mitigate the need for mail-in voting and make possible a return to paper ballots, eliminating the need for voting machines which have been swamped in scandal since 2020.
