Speaking to CBS News’s Lesley Stahl during his first presidential bid, Donald Trump made an unsurprising admission.Stahl had asked Trump why he continued to disparage journalists and the news media, describing them as an enemy of the American people. Trump’s explanation wasn’t that the media had earned that disparagement or to concede some exaggeration. Instead, he admitted that it was tactical.“I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me, no one will believe you,” Stahl recalled Trump telling her.Again, not surprising. But it does cast a different light on Trump’s...

Kevin McCarthy could lead a new house soon, The Post has learned. The ousted former speaker of the House of Representatives is widely seen as a top contender to be former President Donald Trump’s first chief of staff if he retakes the White House following the Nov. 5 election, according to sources familiar with the deliberations. No final decision has been made and there is no sign that McCarthy is campaigning for the coveted role — though one person said the Californian has shown openness to being part of a second Trump administration in some capacity. “[McCarthy] knows DC better...

Missouri, Kansas, and Idaho have filed an amended lawsuit in federal court, claiming their “sovereign” interest in “protecting… citizens” was violated by the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) decision to expand access to the abortion pill to mail-order dispensing. The lawsuit, State of Missouri; State of Kansas; State of Idaho v. FDA, filed on October 14, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas, is “asking US District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk to rollback efforts the Food and Drug Administration has taken over the past eight years to ease access to the drug, such as allowing it to be dispensed through the mail,” CNN reported....

A pig’s brain has been brought back to life, with functioning activity, nearly an hour after the animal had died. The eerie experiment aims to figure out how doctors can restore brain function to a patient who has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest stops blood flow from reaching the brain, which can cause serious, irreparable damage within minutes. This is why the resuscitation window for a cardiac arrest is so short.

Pro-life organizations are speaking out against Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris after she stated she did not believe in religious exemptions for abortion. Vice President Harris made the statement in an interview with NBC News Tuesday evening when asked directly if she would agree to any concessions on abortion such as religious exemptions. Christian and pro-life organizations are rallying against the candidate in response to her “pro-abortion” and “anti-religious freedom” stance. “I don’t think we should be making concessions when we’re talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body,” Harris said to Hallie Jackson Tuesday. “Kamala...

Known for her distaste for over-the-top, tech-heavy spaces (including their Washington home, the $130 million Xanadu 2.0), Melinda once shared in a CNN interview, “We certainly spend money on ourselves. You see it in the house that we built. We won’t have that house forever, though.” ... However, with the couple’s split before the yacht was finished, Gates decided to part ways with the $645 million behemoth, a reminder of their 27-year marriage. Now that Breakthrough has completed its sea trials, the vessel is seeking a new owner, perhaps another billionaire, before the end of this year.

During Kamala Harris’s interview with NBC News anchor Hallie Jackson on Tuesday evening, the subject of abortion came up. Unsurprisingly, Harris came out in strongly favor of legal abortion. She criticized President Trump’s Supreme Court appointees and said we need to “restore the protections of Roe v. Wade.” However, when asked if she would be willing to make concessions, including “religious exemptions,” she declined, stating, “We should not be making concessions when we are talking about a fundamental freedom.” The interview moved on to other subjects. However, Harris should make it clear what conscience rights she opposes. The federal government...

George Gascón is trailing his challenger, former federal prosecutor Nathan Hochman, in recent polls, and much of the incumbent’s support from 2020 has vanished.Hochman has unleashed a media blitz blaming Gascón for high-profile crimes, but the county race reflects a broader shift among voters across the state.Gascón has tried to maintain a positive spin, noting that he came from behind to defeat then-Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey in 2020. This year’s election is on Nov. 5. It’s a Saturday morning in late September, and Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón’s voice is hoarse as he struggles to film a TikTok...

As of this writing, in the four most recent national polls listed at the indispensable RealClearPolitics (RCP), former President Trump leads in all four. We are 11 days and change from Election Day and The Donald is polling better than ever before. After Kamala Harris successfully performed a palace coup to replace Joe Biden, the idea Trump could win the popular vote was thrown out the window. Kamala’s entrance on the national stage, which was backed by billions of dollars in free corporate media propaganda, almost immediately swamped Trump in the national polling. A month ago, plenty of people believed...

A vibrantly coloured, 15-metre-long quilt woven with stories of Catholic women who have had abortions has been unrolled outside the Vatican in protest against the topic being left off the agenda of a major summit hosted by Pope Francis. Thursday’s demonstration by Catholics for Choice, a US-based abortion rights group, comes days after the pontiff emphasised his traditional views of women while reiterating that abortion was “murder” and that doctors who terminate pregnancies were “hitmen”. Those words, made during a visit to Belgium, were enough to prompt the prime minister, Alexander De Croo, to summon the Vatican’s ambassador, it emerged...

Hey, we get it. The whole accusing the Republicans of groping some women a million years ago story may have worked for Democrats in years past BUT it would appear Americans of today are a bit more cynical and well, they just know better. Democrats are gonna democrat, and the media is going to do their part in trying to make sure whatever they throw at the wall sticks BUT this ridiculous story about Trump groping a model at a home Epstein didn't even OWN ... it backfired. Big time. The backfire was SO big that @KamalaGropedMe has been trending...

Nearly 55% of early in-person votes are GOP. Whether these early votes are coming at the expense of Election Day turnout is anyone’s guess, but thus far the Republican Party of Florida is winning the turnout war against the Florida Democratic Party. The secret sauce: a massive bank of early, in-person votes. As of Thursday morning, 620,322 Republicans have voted in person, compared to 313,682 Democrats, 188,420 no-party voters and 23,999 “others.” That gives the GOP more than 54% turnout among 1,146,123 early birds. Democrats do hold an advantage in returned mail ballots, at 709,736 to 606,191 for the GOP....

As we approach Election Day, I’m cautiously optimistic — not so much about the outcome of the election (it’s way too close for either side to feel confident), but rather about the durability and integrity of the process itself. The legal arguments Donald Trump used to try to reverse the election outcome in 2020 have been decisively rejected, and the legal loopholes he tried to open have been closed. I’m not arguing that we should be complacent. We should expect MAGA lawyers to bombard courts and state legislatures with frivolous arguments to try to reverse the outcome if Trump loses...

It is the 52nd Mersenne prime to be found since they were first studied over 350 years ago. A spiral representing primes. Image credit: Bocskai Istvan/Shutterstock.com The largest prime number ever discovered has been found by an amateur mathematician using Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS). Prime numbers, as you likely learned in school, are numbers that can only be divided by one and themselves. There are an infinite number of them, with all numbers greater than 1 being either a prime number or a composite of primes. But having discovered a whole lot of them, new primes are now...
