In Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin — all tight races — we see the larger contours of the entire presidential contest ahead of the first Harris-Trump debate. What makes these states close? We'll unpack some of the factors that stand out, including who's seen as better for key voter groups, who voters think has the cognitive health to serve and what to make of the campaign and social-media rhetoric. One one hand: Trump leads with voters who just don't think they're better off financially since the pandemic, whose incomes aren't keeping up with inflation and especially with non-college and White voters...

More than 20,000 Haitians are now living in Springfield, Ohio and the residents are fed up. Springfield has a population of about 60,000 people and Haitians now make up 25% of the population. Democrats want to take back Ohio so they have flooded parts of the state with Haitians and other illegal migrants. The City of Springfield held a City Commission meeting last week and angry residents went off on them for doing nothing about the Haitians wreaking havoc on the community and draining resources. Residents went off the local government officials for neglecting to keep the city clean and...

One of the hallmarks of narcissism is that when things go wrong, it’s always someone else’s fault. Being a narcissist means never having to say you’re sorry. Nothing more perfectly illustrates this truism than an essay from yesterday’s Los Angeles Times blaming Republicans for California’s myriad woes. While the author is correct that, when Republicans had the chance, they didn’t make smart decisions, the reality is that it’s the Democrats who have led California to the desperate place it’s in now. Steve Lopez’s essay doesn’t make the mistake of blaming Republicans for all the state’s problems. He concedes that Democrats...

New polls show Vice President Harris faces a major challenge in winning over male voters and is losing men by a bigger margin than she’s winning women in key states such as Pennsylvania, Nevada and North Carolina. New polling shows that male voters have shifted toward Trump and away from Harris in Pennsylvania, one of the biggest prizes of the 2024 electoral map. A new CNN/SSRS poll showed Trump leading Harris among likely male voters in Pennsylvania by 15 points — 55 percent to 40 percent — and Harris leading Trump among female voters in the state by 11 points...

It added that Bucharest had deployed F-16 warplanes to monitor its airspace and issued text alerts to residents of two eastern regions.

The pressure is mounting on Kamala Harris, as her campaign appears to be in full-blown panic mode ahead of the upcoming debate. According to a recent report from Fox News, Harris’s team has resorted to extreme measures to prepare their candidate, even going so far as to seclude her in a Pittsburgh hotel room with a stage setup and a Trump impersonator to simulate the debate environment. The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Harris is demanding a seated format and permission to use a “cheat-sheet” during the live debate—an unprecedented move that Trump’s campaign has swiftly condemned. This, they argue,...

The Gateway Pundit previously reported on the suspicious ‘warning call’ that Apalachee High School reportedly received the morning of the shooting. From TGP: “New details have emerged from Wednesday’s shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, regarding a warning the school received prior to the gunman opening fire. Despite reportedly receiving a phone call stating that the high school would be the first of five targets, seemingly nothing was done to prevent the violence.” Now bombshell text messages have been released by the Washington Post, showing that the warning calls that were previously reported came from the shooter’s mother,...

DOUGLAS — Former Vice President Dick Cheney and former congresswoman Liz Cheney escaped censure by the Wyoming Republican Party at its central committee meeting on Saturday because those in the state GOP don’t consider them “Wyoming Republicans” anymore. The Cheneys both said earlier in the week that they will vote for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for president because they oppose former President Donald Trump. At the Wyoming GOP’s Central Committee meeting on Saturday, the party declined to pass a resolution censuring the Cheneys because most of the membership does not view them as “Wyoming Republicans.” A...

In his first court appearance, the 17-year-old who shot San Francisco 49ers receiver Ricky Pearsall claimed he was “very sorry that this did happen.” That message came through his court-appointed attorney Bob Dunlap, who said the shooting was “completely out of character for him,” while confirming that the juvenile has another “outstanding matter” in San Joaquin County. The “matter” was not revealed and neither was the suspect’s identity. No photos of Pearsall’s assailant have appeared and a courtroom sketch portrays him with light brown hair, beard and pony tail, the style of a Malibu surfer. His mother, also unnamed, needed...

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) openly doubted that former President Donald Trump would show up to the presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, scheduled for Tuesday. In an interview at TribFest, the former House speaker was asked what advice she would give the former president regarding the debate, then joking that the two are “close.” “Do you think he’s gonna show up?” Pelosi responded. The interviewer asked if Pelosi knew something everyone else didn’t. “I know cowardice when I see it,” the former House speaker said. Pelosi and Trump have been rivals since the latter assumed the presidency in 2017,...

When the film Truth premiered in 2015, only a little over ten years after the events depicted, film critics seemed to take the movie as a historical account. Based on Mary Mapes’s memoir Truth and Duty, the film was something else again. It prompted John and me to revisit the story in the Weekly Standard article “Rather shameful.” On Power Line I itemized “problems” with the film in “Lies of Truth.” Today is the twentieth anniversary of the CBS News broadcast that we helped expose as a fraud in the run-up to the 2004 presidential election. I find that even...
