House Speaker Mike Johnsons, R-La., said Wednesday he will look at all available avenues should Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle buck calls for her resignation following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. He reportedly said earlier Wednesday he will be forming a special House task force to investigate the attempted assassination at a rally Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump’s right ear was bloodied by a bullet fired from suspected shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who also killed a rally attendee and injured two others before being gunned down by a Secret Service sniper.

We have created a generation of deeply damaged young men. On Sunday, South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham said that the blame for the assassination attempt on President Trump falls upon the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks. True, but I’d like to add to that indictment that our culture is also to blame. What I know of the 20-year-old Crooks is what you know of him, and while it’s tempting to say that nothing we’ve heard can be trusted to be true, we can at least assemble a picture of who he was—and wasn’t. Crooks did an evil thing, but we can point...

President Joe Biden has become more receptive in the last several days to hearing arguments about why he should drop his reelection bid, Democrats briefed on his conversations said Wednesday, after his party’s two top leaders in Congress privately told him they were deeply concerned about his prospects. Biden has not given any indication that he is changing his mind about staying in the race, the Democrats said, but has been willing to listen to rundowns of new and worrying polling data and has asked questions about how Vice President Kamala Harris could win. The accounts suggest that Biden, privately...

“Who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?” The Democrat press agents known as “the media” are frantically attempting to convince us that until the June 27 presidential debate, they didn’t know the extent and severity of Joe Biden’s cognitive and physical decline. That’s why since 2020 they smeared thousands of columns and videos documenting the decline as “disinformation” or “deep fakes” manufactured by the MAGA Ministry of Information. Essentially, they’ve been relying on the Marxist––of the Chico variety–– question, “Who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?”But for over a century we’ve known that the left is...

Celebrate diversity. Diversity is our strength and all that, and we all saw it in our social studies books back in seventh grade: smiling children, all carefully chosen to represent a smorgasbord of races and ethnicities, happily playing together without a care in the world. A recent incident in Queens, N.Y., however, shows how our indefatigable commitment to diversity really works in practice. The New York Post reportedSaturday that “a NYC taxi driver was hit with a hate crime [charge] for allegedly beheading a statue depicting a young Jesus outside a Queens Catholic church, prosecutors said.” The iconoclast who did the...

Deal with it. You knew that the New York Times wouldn’t let a patriotic holiday like Independence Day pass without taking a subversive shot at patriotism or America itself or her founding. Sure enough, author, editor, and Times columnist Pamela Paul wrote a July 4th opinion piece with a headline that, in addition to being wrong, was insulting to all Americans of faith: “Your Religious Values Are Not American Values.” Predictably, it regurgitates many of the Left’s usual negative tropes about Christianity and our country’s founding.Allow me to address some of those tropes, and please forgive the belated response to...

“By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit” (1 John 4:13). Experiencing the ministry of the Holy Spirit is evidence of genuine saving faith. In John 14:26, Jesus described the Holy Spirit as “the Helper.” One of the most important ways He helps us is by assuring us that we belong to God. Several works of the Holy Spirit, if present in our lives, give evidence of the genuineness of our salvation. In 1 Corinthians 12:3 Paul writes, “No one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ except by...

...but I was wrong. I was dead wrong on that. So, much has changed, right? I think a lot of us assume that the trials would have some impact. It didn't. The trials of Donald Trump have been so mishandled by the Democrats, both in terms of communication, the reality, you know, of each of the trials, Jack Smith screwing the Mar-a-Lago trial up, the Fani Willis and all the shenanigans going on in Georgia, all the issues that happened with, you know, Trump's trial, it's not hurting his poll numbers at all because the Democrats and -- is --...

UPDATE: The Trump campaign has not agreed to a date for a vice presidential debate, even though the Biden campaign has said that Kamala Harris has agreed to three different times. Brian Hughes, Trump campaign senior adviser, said in a statement, “We don’t know who the Democrat nominee for Vice President is going to be, so we can’t lock in a date before their convention. To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate.”

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has urged US President Joe Biden to make a decision to give up his bid for reelection, the Politico website reported, citing sources.Media previously reported that US Democratic House representatives are hoping that Pelosi will convince US President Joe Biden to withdraw as the Democratic presidential nominee. Pelosi reportedly talked with Biden last week, saying that some Democrat lawmakers will only become louder in their complaints about the president's alleged political weakness, according to Politico. The former speaker also asked Biden to make a decision about stepping down in the near future....

MSNBC's Joy Reid suggests Trump might not have been hit by a bullet at all, hints that the entire attack might be staged

As our esteemed President, Joseph Robinette Biden, recently intoned, we should tone down the hateful rhetoric and be about unity. Of course, doing so would overlook his evil and infamous “red light” speech given at Independence Hall (a sacrilege), a speech followed by innumerable comparisons between Trump and both Stalin and Hitler, not to mention the “very fine people” hoax, the bleach hoax, the Russia hoax, and on and on. Biden and his noisome minions are also forever intoning the “Threat to Democracy” mantra. It’s impossible to imagine that this rhetoric did not culminate in the recent event in Butler,...

The Biden administration on Thursday said it is forgiving $1.2 billion in student debt for 35,000 borrowers who work in public service, ranging from teachers to firefighters. The announcement marks the latest round in government loan relief after the Supreme Court last year blocked President Joe Biden's plan for broad-based college loan forgiveness. With the latest student loan forgiveness, the Biden administration said it has waived $168.5 billion in debt for roughly 4.8 million Americans, according to a statement from the Department of Education. That represents about 1 in 10 student loan borrowers, it added. The people who qualify for...

Before everything got disrupted by the attempt on President Trump’s life, I had written a post last week titled “Big Tech On The Path To Net Zero.” That post looked at the most recently issued “sustainability” reports from Google, Microsoft and Meta, and noted that all three admit to going rapidly in the opposite direction from “net zero.” As their businesses grow in the direction of power-hungry data centers and AI, they inevitably require large incremental amounts of always-available electricity — the kind of electricity that wind and sun cannot provide. Lacking viable alternatives to fossil fuels, their “emissions” rise....

The U.S. Secret Service said Wednesday that it stood by its female agents and was appalled by some of the criticism they’ve received on conservative social media since Saturday’s attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The Secret Service, in a statement to NBC News, said that the criticism from pundits and influencers was baseless. The agency also stood by its commitment to diversity in recruiting as helping, not hurting, the effectiveness of its protective teams. The statement follows a multiday campaign of derision by some conservatives who accused Kimberly Cheatle, the Secret Service director, of being unqualified and who...

Chris Baker at Lucky Gunner has produced a very good video summation of the use of handguns to defend against bears published on AmmoLand. The graphics in the video are well done. There were over 95 thousand views in five days, with 748 comments. The vast majority of comments were favorable. This is a well-made video worth watching if you prefer to obtain your information via video instead of print. The video is 11:48 minutes long. Chris has obviously studied the data collected and analyzed it from the long-running series at AmmoLand. He has created a good narrative and visual...
