Giving very premature babies high concentrations of oxygen soon after birth may reduce the risk of death by 50% compared to lower levels of oxygen, says new research. The study examined clinical trial data and outcomes of over one thousand premature babies who were given different oxygen concentrations. This included low concentrations of oxygen (~30%), intermediate (~50-65%) and high (~90%). People with type 2 diabetes who are treated with GLP-1 agonists have a decreased risk of developing dementia, according to a new study. Drugs known as GLP-1 agonists or GLP-1 analogs have become increasingly popular in treating type 2 diabetes and obesity as they help control blood sugar, promote weight loss and protect the heart. Endolymphatic duct blockage (EDB) is more effective than intratympanic methylprednisolone (ITMP) injection for controlling vertigo symptoms among patients with Meniere disease (MD), according to a study. Issam Saliba, M.D. and colleagues conducted a retrospective study to compare the effectiveness of EDB and ITMP injection to control refractory MD symptoms. Overall, 36 patients received ITMP injection and 52 underwent EDB.
