SECAUCUS, N.J. -- A New Jersey mayor says buses of migrants bound for New York City have been stopping at the train station in his town and others in an apparent effort to evade an executive order by New York's mayor trying to regulate how and when migrants can be dropped off in the city.

For people who don’t know, Christmas in Russia/Ukraine is a more traditional advent thing, and it’s not commercialized like in the West. It’s also on the 7th of January, because the Eastern Church uses the Julian (solar) calendar. So, New Year’s is the bigger celebration day of the period. They’ve even started with the Western-style gifts, but they do it on New Year’s, not on Christmas.

As we get closer to the one-quarter mark of the 21st century, it may seem that things are changing faster than ever before, especially in the areas of culture and media. I deal with music for a living and even I can’t keep up with everything that’s going on. But I think I can see things clearly enough to make some predictions and observations for music in 2024.

Despite months of feverish recruiting and manipulation of its numbers, United Teachers of Dade (UTD) came up short in its attempt to bring its membership up to the threshold necessary to avoid a recertification election required under terms of a new law passed by Florida’s legislature this past summer. On Dec. 19, UTD President Karla Hernandez-Mats confirmed the union hadn’t been able to persuade 60 percent of the 30,000 teachers it officially represents to become dues-paying members. A few days earlier, she claimed the union had increased its numbers to just more than 58 percent, including 800 new members. What...

An off-duty cop has been shot dead over $83.45 worth of stolen beer when he confronted three suspects robbing a convenience store. Sergeant Philip Dale Nix saw the trio shoplifting from a Sheetz on Sandy Ridge Road in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Saturday. He was allegedly gunned down by Jamere Justice Foster, 18, and died in hospital despite the efforts of a second off-duty policeman and a paramedic. 'He was a loving husband, father, son and brother with 22 years of service to the department and this community,' Greensboro Police Chief John Thompson said. 'We ask for prayers for the...

Ian Ziering was filmed being punched and kicked by a group of mini-bike riders in Los Angeles on Sunday in a shock traffic altercation. In video from the shock incident, The Beverly Hills, 90210 actor, 59, was seen clashing with one mini-bike rider on Hollywood Boulevard - approaching them and kicking them before striking them on the head. Ziering was then attacked by the rider who attempted to strike him, before the actor pushed the rider to the ground. Ziering was surrounded by other bikers from the group - who wore helmets in the exchange - and was seen being...

More Generation Z candidates are lining up to run for office this year amid frustration over the country’s aging political class. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) became Congress’s first member belonging to Gen Z — the age bracket considered to begin with people born in 1997 or later — after 2022’s midterms. Now, at least two fellow Gen Z Democrats are vying to join Frost this year as they look to broaden their generation’s presence in the House, where the median age of voting members is around 58 years.

During an appearance on this week’s broadcast of FNC’s “MediaBuzz,” Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) proclaimed her pro-life stance. However, she reiterated her criticism of Republicans and how they are handling abortion. “You have taken a lot of heat, especially from the right, for saying Republicans have to change the way that they talk about abortion,” FNC host Howard Kurtz said. “Absolutely, absolutely, and we are losing the fight on abortion every single day. We all know that being pro-life, and I’m pro-life, is the compassionate way forward, is the compassionate policy. But we’re losing the fight because we’re not being...

In a recent installment of the 'Club Random' podcast, talk show host Bill Maher and 'Family Guy' mastermind Seth MacFarlane engaged in a contentious debate regarding the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine, as reported by RadarOnline.com. Maher expressed his apprehensions about the US medical establishment's neglect of the concept of natural immunity, a sentiment challenged by MacFarlane during their debate. Debate over natural immunity and vaccination requirements Maher criticized the US's inadequate consideration of natural immunity in determining vaccination requirements, particularly questioning the necessity of vaccinating individuals who have previously contracted the disease, contrasting this approach with Europe's practices, and...

Explanation: Galaxies are fascinating not only for what is visible, but for what is invisible. Grand spiral galaxy NGC 1232, captured in detail by one of the Very Large Telescopes, is a good example. The visible is dominated by millions of bright stars and dark dust, caught up in a gravitational swirl of spiral arms revolving about the center. Open clusters containing bright blue stars can be seen sprinkled along these spiral arms, while dark lanes of dense interstellar dust can be seen sprinkled between them. Less visible, but detectable, are billions of dim normal stars and vast tracts of...

With a wary eye over the future of the federal courts, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts warned Sunday of the perils of artificial intelligence (AI) when deciding cases and other important legal matters. His remarks came in the annual year-end report issued by the head of the federal judiciary, which made no mention of current controversies surrounding his court, including calls for greater transparency and ethics reform binding the justices. Noting the legal profession in general is "notoriously averse to change," Roberts urged a go-slow approach when embracing new technologies by the courts. "AI obviously has great potential to...

Doctors in California who mail abortion pills to patients in other states will be protected from prosecution. Workers will receive more paid sick leave on the heels of a big year for labor. And companies can’t fire employees for using marijuana outside of work. These are among the hundreds of laws that take effect Jan. 1 in the nation’s most populous state. Each year, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signs hundreds of laws passed by the state Legislature. Most take effect Jan. 1 the following year. But sometimes lawmakers will delay a law’s effective date for a variety of reasons, including...

'Still investigating churchgoers?' ... The FBI of the days when it pursued and captured criminals and protected American citizens apparently is gone. In recent years it has been documented to have colluded with Democrats to make up stories about President Donald Trump to try to hurt him. It has interfered in an election by telling media corporations to suppress accurate, but damaging, information about Joe Biden. ... Then it suggested traditional Catholics were domestic terrorists. And threatened pro-life protesters trying to keep unborn babies from harm. And more ... So when it released an innocuous holiday greeting just days ago,...

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden appeared in a recorded message that was as notable for the usual malarkey about the economy spewed by the geriatric Democrat as it was for his wife’s bizarre attire. In their interview with Ryan Seacrest that aired on ABC’s annual edition of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” from Times Square, the couple engaged in the usual gaslighting about the miracles of “Bidenomics” in their message to Americans to kick off the new year, one in which Americans will get their first chance for a referendum on the regime’s disastrous policies in...

Former President Trump went after Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) for vetoing a proposed ban on gender-affirming health care for transgender minors Saturday. “DeWine has fallen to the Radical Left,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “No wonder he gets loudly booed in Ohio every time I introduce him at Rallies, but I won’t be introducing him any more. I’m finished with this ‘stiff.’ What was he thinking. The bill would have stopped child mutilation, and prevented men from playing in women’s sports. Legislature will hopefully overturn. Do it FAST!!!” The bill, House Bill 68, also had the aim...
