Republicans from the Senate Judiciary Committee are slated to hold a press briefing Thursday afternoon on the Biden administration’s actions regarding border security. Senate Republicans are simmering over the state of border talks, and they argue Senate Democrats have little interest in meaningful negotiations, which have flatlined over the past week, hurting chances a supplemental will be passed by the end of the year, as The Hill reported. Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), John Cornyn (R-Texas), and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) are expected to speak. The briefing is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST. Watch the live video above.

Rep. Thomas Massie was condemned by top Democrats and the White House Tuesday for sharing a Drake-inspired meme that suggested Congress embraces Zionism more than American patriotism. The Kentucky Republican’s post on X showed one photo of the rapper holding his hand up and looking away with the captions “Congress these days” and “American patriotism.” In another photo, Drake is seen smiling and pointing toward another caption that reads: “Zionism.” The meme, which has been viewed more than 3 million times, earned the scorn of the Biden administration. “All Americans – including @HouseGOP leadership – should condemn this virulent Antisemitism...

Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) signed legislation repealing the basic skills test that had been previously required for college graduates to be certified as teachers in the state's public schools. "Forcing people to prove they are proficient in reading, writing and math in order to be accepted as teachers is out-dated," Murphy said. "In today's world these are no longer essential skills. Tik Tok videos and texting are the main methods of communication used by today's youngsters. This is what our teachers need to be using." Angela Morabito, a spokesperson for the Defense of Freedom Institute and former press secretary for...

Comprehensive research has shown not only that Washington knew in advance of the attack on Pearl Harbor, but that it deliberately withheld its foreknowledge from our commanders in Hawaii in the hope that the "surprise" attack would catapult the U.S. into World War II.On Sunday, December 7, 1941, Japan launched a sneak attack on the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, shattering the peace of a beautiful Hawaiian morning and leaving much of the fleet broken and burning. The destruction and death that the Japanese military visited upon Pearl Harbor that day — 18 naval vessels (including eight battleships) sunk...

A Kate Cox, the plaintiff in the case, will be authorized to obtain an abortion once the temporary restraining order is signed Thursday Travis County judge on Thursday ruled a woman in Texas can obtain an emergency medically indicated abortion, marking the first such intervention in the state since before Roe v. Wade was decided 50 years ago. After that landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that guaranteed a federal right to an abortion was overturned in 2022, Texas instituted a near-total abortion ban, with few exceptions including life-threatening complications.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana’s Court of Appeals questioned attorneys this week on exceptions to the state’s abortion ban in a case involving residents who are suing on grounds that it violates a state religious freedom law. The class action lawsuit, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana on behalf of five anonymous residents and the group Hoosier Jews for Choice, argues Indiana’s abortion ban violates the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act that was approved by Republican lawmakers in 2015. The suit was originally filed in September 2022 and a county judge sided with the residents last December. Indiana...

United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Cameron pressed U.S. lawmakers to pass funding for Ukraine because Russian President Vladimir Putin could “be back for more.” “This is an investment into the success, and the worst thing in the world would be to allow Putin a win in Ukraine, not just because that would be bad in itself, but he’d back for more,” Cameron, a former U.K. prime minister, said on CNN. Senate Democrats introduced a roughly $111 billion national security package requested by President Biden providing aid to Ukraine and Israel and security at the southern border, but the Senate voted...

(RNS) — Amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, another battle is playing out in Jerusalem among its small but storied Armenian Christian community, their own patriarch and an Australian-Israeli businessman who is said to be set on taking over the Armenian Quarter of the Old City. Last month, things escalated as Jewish settlers aided by dogs and bulldozers disrupted a long-running sit-in in a site known as the Cow’s Garden, currently a parking lot, where businessman Danny Rothman plans to build his latest hotel. Rothman’s company, Xana Capital Group, made a secret deal in...

As a frequent traveler, one of the biggest issues I deal with is what I eat. I am a very picky eater; a confirmed carnivore my love of vegetables is weak at best and most notably, I don’t eat any fish or seafood. My fellow Americans may wonder why I phrase it that way, but I’ll get to that in a second. The point of this post is that even after years of writing about this issue I’m still faced with certain difficulties when I travel, and since I’ve heard from many people around the world who are just...
