Electric vehicles sure do seem safe and effective. Or am I mixing my propaganda? According to social media user Xian Ke, a Google-operated electric bus suffered a power loss on Monday morning while attempting to scale one of San Francisco’s many hills. The out-of-control bus then rolled down the hill and crashed into nine vehicles. From the video, it appeared that the bus had driven two vehicles onto a wide sidewalk. One of the vehicles looked wedged between a tree and a concrete or metal pole. The side of the gray bus proudly featured the words “100% Battery Electric.” Ke...

Hotel magnate and aerospace entrepreneur Robert Bigelow—who gave $20 million to a pro-Ron DeSantis super PAC in March—is now criticizing the Florida governor’s presidential campaign, hinting to the Financial Times he might throw his support behind Donald Trump, who leads among candidates for the Republican presidential nomination. Bigelow pointed to Hamas’ attack on Israel as a reason why he might shift his support to Trump, telling the Financial Times in an article published Wednesday the U.S. needs a strong and “streetwise” leader like the former president. He also told the Financial Times he thinks if Trump—who has been indicted four...

Publicly and privately, on the stump and in closed-door pitches to prospective donors, Donald Trump’s rivals pressed the case for months that the former president was a bad bet to beat Joe Biden. In the span of several days, that case unraveled. A small drumbeat of polling showing Trump's enduring strength has turned into a cacophony. And in the wake of polling from the New York Times and Siena College, which found Trump beating Biden in five battleground states — and a CBS News/YouGov poll that showed Trump leading Biden nationally — Republicans once skeptical of Trump’s viability in a...

Election offices in King, Pierce, Skagit and Spokane counties were evacuated Wednesday, three of which received a white powdery substance in the mail. It had a white, powdery substance inside, according to Pierce County Auditor Linda Farmer. Officials called 911 and everyone immediately left the building at about 8:30 a.m. A Tacoma Fire hazmat team responded and the substance tested presumptively as baking soda. Everyone returned to work by about 11 a.m. The FBI and the...

Explanation: There's a new space telescope in the sky: Euclid. Equipped with two large panoramic cameras, Euclid captures light from the visible to the near-infrared. It took five hours of observing for Euclid's 1.2-meter diameter primary mirror to capture, through its sharp optics, the 1000+ galaxies in the Perseus cluster, which lies 250 million light years away. More than 100,000 galaxies are visible in the background, some as far away as 10 billion light years. The revolutionary nature of Euclid lies in the combination of its wide field of view (twice the area of the full moon), its high angular...

Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on Wednesday for a united and Palestinian-led government for Gaza and the West Bank after the war ends, as a step toward Palestinian statehood. That vision sharpens U.S. differences with ally Israel on what the future should look like for the Palestinian territories once Israel’s military campaign against Hamas winds down. Blinken’s outline of what Americans think should come next for Gaza also serves as a check on the postwar scenarios floated by officials of Israel’s hard-right government and its supporters. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement Monday that Israel’s military would likely maintain security...

That will not happen.’ Do you agree or disagree?”In response,...

The 13 largest U.S. tire manufacturers are facing a lawsuit from a pair of California commercial fishing organizations that could force the companies to stop using a chemical added to almost every tire because it kills migrating salmon. Also found in footwear, synthetic turf and playground equipment, the rubber preservative 6PPD has been used in tires for 60 years. As tires wear, tiny particles of rubber are left behind on roads and parking lots, breaking down into a byproduct, 6PPD-quinone, that is deadly to salmon, steelhead trout and other aquatic wildlife when rains wash it into rivers. “This is the...
